Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"

Wood: El Toro (best), Thunderhawk (worst) Steel: Maverick (best), Great Bear (worst) -
^ That's good to know. That link answered my question about whether or not its open to the public, because you are able to buy a ticket for those dates through the website, so it couldn't possibly be just passholders. I'm sure it'll still be dead since most folks will figure the park is closed after this weekend. I guess because SORA is being used for the Grape Adventure thing, no sense in having Bizarro open back there, and Parachutes probably aren't open since that area is going to be Treetop Summit (according to the HITP map) and I bet they'll use the structure of it for the parks giant X-mas tree like they did w/ Dare Devil Dive @ SFOG. Perfect spot since you'll be able to see it from the lot. This is also makes me excited for what they are going to be doing to Skull Mountain.

Alright so I'm thinking based on the wording "Great Adventure will now be open" that its open to the public so where your pass is from shouldn't matter unless you are trying to get the BAF 9.99 discount. Otherwise wouldn't it say "Great Adventure is now open for passholders"? In addition, the parks hours for those days are 11am-7 Friday (schools in Jersey are closed that day so makes sense, will probably be DEAD), 12-5 Sat and Sunday (while the wine-o fest is going on). Also is anyone excited as me to realize the park is open all day on Black Friday for HITP? Hopefully all the a$$holes of the area will be ripping each others faces off in Walmarts while I'll be marathoning Nitro!

The wording says "Great Adventure Passholders" but I really don't know. I am pretty sure I'm going up this Sunday, at least for a little bit in the morning, but if that falls through at least I have next weekend. I wish it was just passholders next weekend, the two passholders night I've gone (Coasters After Dark the last two years) I felt like Clark Griswold in a completely empty park.

Depeche Mode - Suffer Well

I just got tix to see Deerhunter for my third time at a cozy little venue near my house the week of my birthday, first week of December. First time I saw them was 2010 in NYC, and then again in 2013 at the same venue I'll see them at in a little over a month. Any fans here? For the unfamiliar they are an awesome little weirdo indie rock band based in Atlanta and have been putting out LPs once every other year since 2005, each always very different from the last but always unmistakably them, and I love each of them. Here's a few of their latest songs from their new LP, Fading Frontier.

Saving places / re-entering the line
boldikus replied to LuminousAphid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hate line jumpers. If you see its a long line, go to the bathroom first. Otherwise you should have a disability pass or flash pass. Most times its kids who are bullsh!tting. I have witnessed parents with an entire group of 7-8 kids in tow skipping an entire line. Ive also witnessed people get caught and thrown out of line. I like the idea of publicly shaming them by chanting "LINE CUTTERS! LINE CUTTERS!" People have a mob mentality most of the time and would likely join in. Can we collectively make this a thing?? -
This map for HITP was posted about a month ago. Its not super easy to see but you can see (as ^ Coasterbill said) Golden Kingdom, Plaza Del Carnival, Frontier Adventures will all be closed. This is exactly why I am hoping to get up to ride Toro, Zum and Bizarro this coming weekend. Also it'll be interesting to see what they do in Old Country.

My other half is dying to do this also. We planned to do it this year but its only during July and August and we weren't both down there on a weekend morning together this year to do it, so 2016 it is. -
Moreys Piers Discussion Thread

Interesting. Saving up some more cash for a coaster? I think its safe to say the woodie is not happening for 2016. Maybe a coaster of some sort in 2017. But I have this feeling, based on nothing really, that the planned woodie has been shelved. I could see them shuffling a few things around and getting something completely different, with Castaway Cove getting Gale Force next year. Locals have been begging Moreys for a new coaster for years (just look at the comments on their FB page for proof of this), a compact looping/launched/combination of those steel coaster would require a lot less shuffling things around and would be more cost effective on a maintenance level. Keep in mind not only would they have to shuffle around the entire front and north side of Surfside to fit that woodie in, but the old (Hunts) pier it was planned to travel over to and spend the majority of its track length on, is not just that go-kart track but also all of their storage and maintenance. And that all has to go somewhere. Something tells me the reason it was delayed is because it was maybe a little too ambitious. Those blueprints/model surfaced almost a decade ago. Wow I just realized that including that, Moreys has FOUR go-kart tracks, one on each pier. Best one is on Mariners, always has been. Anyways, where are all the go-kart enthusiasts at? Any other parks have that many go-kart tracks? Fun fact: a long time ago I once kinda sat in a little kids puke on that Tornado ride. Also since the Morey's thread got bumped wanted to share a few pictures as the resident Morey geek around here. Posted on their FB page this week: How many coasters can you spot? And then this photo from 1985 of Sea Serpent, the first ever boomerang in the United States (and my first coaster w/ inversions, opened 1984), and the then brand new Vekoma made Giant Wheel (that thankfully has an awesome new lighting package). I rode both in 1985. I'm old. Posted by Wildwood 365 -
That's something I always think about when I see these older coasters using this cable system. I think it works like a detachable chairlift. In this case, the train has a grip underneath that is constitued of two parts: a fixed jaw and another one on a spring. So naturally, the grip is closed thanks to the spring resilience. At the beginning of the lift, you can see a metal plate on the track. The train will run over it, and thanks to a system of cams and levers, will open the grip. In the meantime, the cable will slide into it, the metal plate comes to an end and the grip is closed. Same process in reverse at the top. Ive actually always wondered the same thing about El Toro's cable lift, since unlike the newer Intamin steel cable lifts, El Toro connects to the lift after a turnaround, and not out of the station like I305, Skyrush, Millennium, etc. Anyone know if Toro's works the same way? Or can someone explain it to me? (sorry to threadjack!) Also, thanks for the report. Cool photos and video.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
boldikus replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WTF? LOL! Is it a prerequisite that as an enthusiast that I have to feel I am "better" than the GP? LMAO. How would what does and does not make me nauseous make the GP smarter and me dumber? Who are you to tell anyone what can or cannot make them sick?? Riding rides, just like music and food, is subjective - what one person likes I might hate and vice versa. Maybe when you are an adult you will gain the ability to have some empathy for people before you judge them. Oh OK I guess I just imagined that time I puked up my entire days meals immediately after riding the tea cups at Moreys about 15 years ago. It didn't happen, because flat rides can't make me sick right? FFS. THIS. I rode any and everything all day long when I was a kid. Suddenly in my 20's I started to feel sick on any ride that spins in a tight circumference - tea cups and the like are main offenders for me. I'd love to be able to ride those rides but I don't want to end my day with my head in a trash can. I don't even mess with Dramamine. If I have to take something to enjoy a ride I just won't ride. I've recently been ok on rides like Pipe Scream, but an experiment on Ragin Cajun last year reminded me those rides are not for me.
