  1. ^ I'm surprised people aren't photoshopping other stuff on these and tweeting him back. I suck at PS but seems easy enough to do for someone with skills.
  2. Seemed like Batman @ SFFT went up really quick. What was it like 6 weeks? Using that timeframe, I wouldn't expect GreatAdv to even start vertical construction until February at the earliest. Seriously. I hope I'm wrong and we get to check out them building this thing during Holiday in the Park, but as usual they are probably aiming for a Memorial Day weekend opening so that leaves them plenty of time in the spring for construction.
  3. Sounds like you all had a good time this weekend. Have to admit kinda jealous I didn't make more of an effort to get up there, just had stuff around the house to do and with the crappy weather I was rather unmotivated, and couldn't be bothered to make the trek up there. Sounds like it was great for marathoning tho! Talked to a few other folks who were there this weekend and they all said it was dead and had a great time. Yesterday (Sunday) looked especially awesome with it turning nice and sunny in the afternoon but the park stayed quiet.
  4. Tom Vek - A Chore
  5. Sunday is actually not looking too bad. Maybe a morning visit?
  6. We're getting hit by a Nor'easter right now, its actually a different weather pattern than Joaquin. But what we are getting now is hitting the shore points pretty hard - Ocean City in particular is almost completely under water, and the back bay in Wildwood, which is normally a block away from my parents home, is currently in their back yard.
  7. Having a moment of silence or some sh*t over here for the Great White. Hang in there, buddy. Photo credit: Watch The Tram Car Please dot com Kinda hard to see, but that the first and 3rd turnarounds - the two closest to the ocean, there behind the Wildwood Convention Center. The ocean has come up to and in some spots come passed the boardwalk, which basically means the entire coaster (and most definitely the tunnel right out the of the station) are completely flooded. For those unfamiliar, the majority of the ride was built not on the pier, but right on the beach. To give you an idea of how far up the water is (if you are not familiar with Wildwood).

  9. Whoa whoa whoa whoa now. Let's not lose our minds here. Even as the founder of the Cult of Skull/Skank Mountain I take offense to this statement.
  10. According to my rankings its currently Stinger. Really smooth and dare I say... kinda fun.
  11. ^ Which is exactly my concern with that Skyrush lift motor. Seems silly to have it that low to the creek especially when so much of the ride is pretty far above it (save for the first turn at the bottom of the drop), considering the history of flooding Hershey has had along the creek. I guess it has to be there for some reason my non-engineer brain cannot decipher. My number 1 goal in October is to ride Skyrush so I am over here doing an anti-rain dance for my beloved Hersheypark.
  12. How about that time they added a water feature to Great Bear? Really made for an exciting finale to the ride!
  13. Yeah but that lift motor is awfully close to the creek.
  14. Keep an eye on Ka (its not hard to, you can see it from basically anywhere in the park) - if its generally quiet and you see if running, haul ass over there. Otherwise, just pack a poncho and be prepared to kill time in a restaurant/arcade/etc if the rains get bad and rides shut down. Or of course you could just marathon
  15. "Love" is a really strong word to describe my opinion on Wildcat, but I don't personally have an issue with the ride. After all the hype of how bad it is, I rode it and got off and first thing I said was "coaster enthusiasts are pussies".
  16. Their general weather policy is "we don't care". Coasterbill can you chime in with your excellent riding-Nitro-in-the-sleet-and-freezing-rain story from last fall? That pretty much sums it up. The only thing I could see winds affecting are KA and Zum because of their height, but I haven't personally experienced that. I'd love to ride Zum on a windy day, probably feels insane up there.
  17. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Hershey typically floods in the lower elevation areas in the front of the park around the creek. So Skyrush, the entrance plaza, SDL, and Comet are usually affected. Wildcat should remain unscathed.
  18. They are very very easy to miss. Right before the last turn is a not very well lit pumpkin of all things (someone recently brought up a great point on here - since when do pumpkins grow inside a dark mountain? LOL), and then on the brake run during the strobe attack there is a skeleton hanging to your left.
  19. omg Title Fairy YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS even better! you just made my morning!
  20. I fully expect reports of potentially major flooding at Hershey (and likely Knoebels) this week with the amount of rain that fell today and forecast to fall the rest of the week. It's been teeming in Philly since this afternoon.
  21. First off, you absolutely cannot stop the hype train on Skull Mountain. This is now a movement and we'll stop at nothing to get this monster to the tippy top of next years Mitch Hawker. Secondly, I get the surging thing you are talking about, I feel that too. But I'm too distracted by the excellently bad blaring death metal and two randomly placed half ass props keeping me giggling beyond control anytime I ride to really care.
  22. A bunch of threads on here have become Skull Mountain appreciation threads. You know why? Because he's the true underdog of the community. But he holds the power. And with that power - day by day, he converts yet another hapless enthusiast into a disciple of his almighty persuasive and unexpected force. Seriously this is hilarious and I love that it keeps coming up. Can we please have a TPR meetup and take over a train already?? (even tho we'd all fight for the back row) Related: coasterbill texted me this from the park the other day. true story.
