Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Valleyfair has a new blog post listing some new additions and changes for 2019.: http://bit.ly/2X4LqZQ A few highlights: -They’ve confirmed that the construction between The Wave and Corkscrew is for the Superior Stage, which will be used for various performances and events. -Soak City will also be receiving a new performance stage, located between the bar and the wave pool. -The restroom near Wild Thing was given a renovation. As you can see below, it’s a massive improvement over what it used to be. Photo from the link above. -

^ I worked in Rides at VF from 2016 through 2018. You probably won't find out your ride location until after you go through orientation/start training. -

^ If the back of the park is still flooded, Opening Day would likely not be pushed back. They'd just have the rest of the park open and have the back rides open later on once the flooding recedes and ride testing is complete. If parking lot flooding is as bad as it was in 2014 they might have to have everyone park at Canterbury Park and then bus them over to VF. Still a month away from opening so hopefully that's enough time for floodwaters to recede even with the upcoming snowstorm. I'd bet passholder ride nights will be announced at some point since Exclusive Ride Times are still listed as a passholder benefit. -

It’s still a bit early but the forecast is calling for about a foot of snow next week in Central Minnesota. Spring was fun while it lasted. -

Looks like High Roller is getting some more retracking this year, this time in the bunny hills after the first turnaround. Photo from VF's Twitter. -
Just now. When was the last time you rode an Arrow coaster?

The park just posted a pic on Twitter of some digging going on in the field between The Wave and Corkscrew, I wonder what it’s for. Photo from @ValleyfairMN on Twitter. -

I drove by the park this morning and did not see any flooding from the road, though there is still a decent amount of snow on the ground so there could be flooding in the near future. -

I stayed at the Comfort Inn three years ago and it was good overall. Nothing fancy but room was comfortable, it has free breakfast, and it's within walking distance of the park if necessary. -
I'm in the process of planning a six day, five park coaster trip across Pennsylvania and New Jersey for this summer, where I'm looking to visit Kennywood, Hersheypark, Knoebels, Dorney Park, and Six Flags Great Adventure, all for the first time. I plan on taking the trip during mid/late June or mid-July, preferably the former, and it would likely be a Monday to Saturday trip. Looking for some advice on a few parts of the trip planning. I already purchased my Kennywood ticket on their website, and will likely do the same for Knoebels soon. I'll be able to get into Dorney Park free since I'm working at Cedar Point this summer and I've heard my employee ID will get me into Hersheypark for free as well. Six Flags Great Adventure I'm not fully sure how I should get tickets yet. I’m looking to visit for an evening and a full day and was unable to find a starlight/evening ticket on the park and was wondering if they offer it at the gate and what the price is. The other, more likely option would be for me to buy a season pass because unless an evening ticket (if it exists) is about $30 or less, the season pass looks like it would be the cheaper option even though I don't anticipate visiting any other Six Flags parks this year besides Great Adventure. As of right now this is the itinerary I'm planning on going with... Day 1 (Monday): Drive from Cedar Point to Kennywood stay from open to around 8 pm, then drive to hotel about halfway to Hershey. Day 2 (Tuesday): Finish drive to Hersheypark, stay at park from open to close. Day 3 (Wednesday): Drive to Knoebels, stay at park from open to close. Day 4 (Thursday): Drive to Dorney Park, stay from open to 3 or 4 pm, then drive to Six Flags Great Adventure and stay until close. Day 5 (Friday): Six Flags Great Adventure from open to close. Day 6 (Saturday): Drive back to Cedar Point. Does this look like a good/realistic schedule? Do the times I want to stay at each park look acceptable or should I plan more or less time at some of them? Does the park/driving schedule I want to use sound doable or would I probably tire myself out at that rate? Additionally, I'm already budgeting for one day of Platinum Flash Pass at Great Adventure. Since I'm planning on hitting Hersheypark on a Tuesday, would it be worth getting Fast Track or Fast Track Unlimited when I'm there? Finally, is there any other advice you have or anything else I should know about visiting these parks? Any input is appreciated.

Need some input, is it possible to do both Knoebels and Dorney Park in one day? I’m planning a Pennsylvania/New Jersey coaster road trip for this summer and trying to see if I can/should attempt to ride all the coasters at both parks in one day. It seems doable since the parks are only 1.5 hours apart, though with all the good things I’ve heard about Knoebels, I wonder if I might need more than 4-5 hours there. -

After seeing that POV, I’m a lot more excited to ride it in about two months. I doubt it’s going to top Fury but it’s looking to be a fantastic ride in its own right. -

^ Nick Universe’s operations aren’t that bad, I’ve seen them dispatch rides fairly quickly when they are fully staffed. As for the direction the park seems to be moving in, it seems to be the best business choice and I’m fine with it. Despite what a few dozen coaster enthusiasts think about Valleyfair, most of the general public seems to like the park just fine. -

I’m happy to announce I’ve accepted an offer for a Ride Operator position at Cedar Point for the 2019 season. I’ll be starting in early June and I’m excited to get to work at America’s Roller Coast.
