  1. What the hell took me so long to see A Quiet Place? Such a brilliant movie and likely to be one of my favorite films of the year.
  2. I love that line of reasoning. Anything that packs a punch can now be called a roller coaster, including Chuck Norris. Does this mean that Mike Tyson also has bite?
  3. ^That made me think of that godawful Will Smith movie Wild, Wild West for whatever reason. And now I want to see a steampunk-themed Endeavor.
  4. I know this has been discussed before, but since I'm feeling lazy right now, what do people think of the Comfort Inn across from the park? I'm looking at booking three nights there the first week of August and I can get a really good deal there through my timeshare.
  5. Well, I know you had fun at the parks, Phil. But what about Michael? How's his thrill tolerance these days?
  6. What kind of Enterprise was it that it has a no single-riders policy?
  7. Renegade is also getting some track work done. Maintenance was working on it this morning. I can also say that after today's shift, I can operate 2 credits: Mad Mouse and Delirious.
  8. I don't know how well that pocket's going to hold your phone. So begins the quest for a onesie with zippered pockets.
  9. ^It's definitely easier to keep track of as many ride ops neglect to click the turnstiles for the re-riders at Valleyfair (Something I've done before as well a time or two like when a group had a bumper cars marathon at the end of the night). And that skews ridership numbers. I'm curious what other reasons might be for that policy.
  10. A paperback copy of Batman: The Long Halloween--$24
  11. Coming Soon to SYFY: Sharknado 19: Iron Sharknado
  12. Came in to post a couple burgers I've had in the past week. Up first is the Steak & Shake Royale. Bacon, cheese, and a fried egg. Decent enough for a fast-casual chain, but the name reminds me so much of Pulp Fiction. It didn't help that I was dining with my father, Marvin. Burger #2 is the Glazed Donut Burger (with added egg) from Sickie's Garage in Fargo, ND. I didn't enjoy how the glaze melted into the burger patty, but it was otherwise delicious.
  13. Patriot at Worlds of Fun
  14. Expedition Everest--Disney's Animal Kingdom
  15. Rita's is no longer listed on the park's website. If anything takes its place in Route 76, it's either that Coke station, or a hot dog stand. The other Rita's now sells Nordic Waffles.
  16. ^I want to shake the hand of the clever bastard that thought of that.
  17. Steel Venom--Valleyfair Launching in 3...2...1... Coming for you! Getting Closer... Strike! Up the spike Whee!
  18. ^No worries. Many assume that they are the main panel. When I've worked the platform for an S&S Space Shot, I've noticed many an eye on me as I have my hand over the "ride stop" button thinking that it's the button that actually launches the cart up the tower. So of course I play around with them a little bit.
  19. ^Yeah, that's just the platform dispatch button. Most coasters and a number of flats have them in addition to the main panel in the booth. Both the booth and the platform have a dispatch button that must be pressed in conjunction for the train to dispatch. But yes, I do enjoy the graphic on it.
  20. You are now 6'4" living in a house with 6 foot ceilings. I wish I had superpowers. Like that doesn't happen with a 4.0 GPA?
