  1. ^Disappointing is the best word to describe Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I'm a fan of J.A. Bayona's prior work and the film had some good direction and some genuine moments of tension, and at times was a good, mindless popcorn flick. But the script needed another rewrite or 12. And they're bringing Trevorrow back to write and direct the next one? I mean, I'm still going to eventually see it because I am a fan of this franchise, but the script here left a very sour taste in my mouth.
  2. So is Fury an "I need to rent a locker" scenario, or an "I can toss my stuff onto the platform" scenario?
  3. I hope I'm not turning this thread into the Kings Dominion thread by asking this, but what is the loose article/platform/bin/locker situation at the park? Specifically Fury and Nighthawk. Are there any rides that glasses cannot be worn on even with a strap? Also, does the park sell a decent Afterburn hat?
  4. When I worked on the security team for a music festival, I couldn't tell you how many festival goers and security members alike suffered from heat-related illnesses. Last year, while operating Valleyfair's Mad Mouse, a girl collapsed in my queue from heat exhaustion. We were within a hundred yards of the first aid station and it still took EMTs 20 minutes to arrive. You can never stress hydration enough when it gets that hot. On a different note; I got stuck on SFGAm's Iron Wolf's Apocalypse's final break due to a power outage for over a half hour.
  5. You're going on the 4th around fireworks time and are wondering if the park will be busy? Conventional wisdom says Steel Venom, Wild Thing, and Renegade will all have long lines. However, there is a good chance that it'll rain all day which will drive away some crowds and cancel the fireworks. A good chunk of the parking lot is also flooded right now, so keep that in mind.
  6. Could be a new clone design. But I'm not holding my breath just yet for anything.
  7. As one who has operated Valleyfair's Larson Loop, I think I'm more interested with how it will be operated, especially in comparison to the Larson Loop. I also am curious as to how it will handle rain.
  8. For my visit in August, I have no intention of rope-dropping, will not be purchasing fast lane; but intend on staying til close all three nights I intend to visit. I know Nighthawk's line is brutal during the day. Does it empty out at all in the evening/close to park close?
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if Excalibur and Renegade go down for high waters considering forecasted rain this weekend. Cause that water is already EXTREMELY high right now. Depending on how much rain falls, the park will be lucky if Excalibur, Renegade, and Thunder Canyon are the only things that close. But on the bright side, I've heard Venom's holding break being off is temporary due to some technical difficulties a couple days ago. So hopefully it will be back on in a couple days.
  10. Wild Thing--Valleyfair
  11. Buy fast lane! Upgrade to Gold Pass! Get the Meal Plan! Get the Souvenir Drink Cup! Theme parks are loaded with advertising. At least Cedar Fair doesn't wrap their coaster trains with gum ads. And be thankful the ad in the dog show isn't one of those Sarah McLachlan ASPCA ads. And the ad plays over a set change.
  12. Came here to give a shout-out to Muddy Cow. A restaurant with a handful of locations around the Twin Cities including one about 2 miles from Valleyfair. Some highlights: -2 for 1 happy hour all day, everyday -2 for 1 pizzas all day, everyday -$5 burgers on Mondays
  13. On Monday night, after getting off a shift at Valleyfair, I had to go to Muddy Cow for their $5 burger Monday special. I enter the building to find a group of about 20 getting seated before me. Whatever, the burger will be $5. I can wait for it. I'm seated. I order. My burger comes out about 8 minutes later. The EKG Had my old standby in an egg burger--known here as the EKG. Absolutely delicious and the fries were almost orgasmic.
  14. Just get a strap. Available at dollar stores
