Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
CaptainUnknown replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know what I'm more excited about this thing: taking pictures of it from every angle, or eventually riding it myself. Why does airfare to Canada have to be so expensive? -
I saw Mission Impossible: Fallout today as well. As an action movie, I thought it was incredibly enjoyable. As a Mission Impossible film, it was slightly lackluster as I feel it lacked the signature setpiece. The helicopter chase climax was great and all, but it was no suspended on a wire from the first, the Burj Khalifa from 4, or the plane takeoff from 5. But overall, I greatly enjoyed it and am excited for the next installment in the series. Also, to the person that brought a yapping emotional support chihuahua to the theater:

When I was there last week, I walked onto Vortex front row. I think i was the only one on the train. It was bad, but not as bad as Iron Wolf was. Carolina Goldrusher was running rougher than Vortex that night. I'm genuinely curious as to how much of a difference the floorless train would make. It'll be interesting to see what (if anything) the park does with it. -

Was the cellphone policy the same on Steel Vengeance during ERT as it is during the day, or were you able to work with the park to allow some other arrangement? But otherwise, glad you had fun! Looking forward to the full report in that thread. -

Six Flags Fiesta Texas removed their chute the chutes for a Raptor. From what I've heard, Six Flags Over Georgia's has been SBNO for most of the year. Fewer water rides will mean more people will go into the water park. -

^It was my first time at the park and I just got back from the trip. Park closed early the past 2 days because of severe inclement weather. The forecast made me think that I would have very little time to ride everything I wanted to at the park over 2 and a half days. So yeah, I had to leave, but once I got on most everything, I had to go back to Fury. I'm glad the last ride I got at the park on this trip was on Fury. -

After my flight was delayed 2 hours, I arrived at the park around 7:30. Rain and other bad weather had driven everyone else out so that most everything was a walk-on or a cycle wait. Scorecard: Intimidator 2x Fury 2x Drop Tower 1x Carolina Cyclone 1x Vortex 1x Carolina Goldrusher 1x Flying Cobras 1x Boo Blasters 1x Afterburn 2x Nighthawk 1x Intimidator 1x Fury 3x Rather impressive for only 2.5 hours. -

There's been a seemingly above average number of weekdays, too. Rain, rain; go away. Little Johnny wants to play. -
I'm in the early stages of looking at potential trips next year and at the moment, this is the park I'm looking at. I'd fly into DFW, transit to the hotel, drop bags off, head into Six Flags or a baseball game--cause if it's that close... Spend a couple days at Six Flags, fly home. Since I get some good deals with Choice, how's the Sleep Inn across from Judge Roy Scream? Also, the Choice webpage for the hotel mentions an Arlington trolley service? Can anyone recommend that? I also see a Bowling museum nearby. Anyone been to that?

^From what I could tell, the park is not currently affected by flooding. The employee lot is back open, I couldn't see any of the main lot blocked off anymore on either of my rides on North Star. -

^After I got off at 4, I waited 10 for back row Renegade, approx. 10 for mid train Steel Venom, 10 for 2nd row Wild Thing, 15 for North Star. -
TPR's 2018 USA Tour Trip Reports!

Those sunset pics make me jealous the forecast calls for rain and thunder for my visit to Carowinds next week. Still extremely excited for Fury, though! -
from what I've been told from a ride op on the ride is that if one of the operators takes their finger off the dispatch button too early the ride will end up getting stuck before the lift. This has happened a few times so far. I've done something similar operating an Arrow Wild Mouse. Fortunately the car could be pushed from the station platform so that it could go to the lift (much to the chagrin of the platform operator )

Unfortunately, it's looking like my trip next week will be a wet one. High chance of thunder and rain my entire visit. So on a scale of Six Flags Great Adventure during Holiday in the Park to Six Flags Great Adventure in the Summer, how is the weather policy? I expect the high rides to shut down for lightning, but what rides shut down for anything more than a light drizzle? Also, while I expect the magic seats on Intimidator/Fury to be the back, do any of the other coasters have magic seats? What seats are recommended--especially on Nighthawk/Hurler/Vortex?
