I hope when they say discourage people from riding without kids they will still allow it but maybe they won't be happy about it. Not only for enthusiasts but it looks a lot bigger than your standard kiddie coaster and for a park with a very unbalanced collection of coasters (all are thrills, for the average park guest), I would think a lot of people might want to ride it. -

Undocumented/forgotten coasters

Not exactly a big deal but Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, NJ had a Zamperla Dragon in the early 90's. It's not on RCDB but I know it existed because I remember riding it and can still picture it's location (with the old layout before the redid the whole park layout, it was right near the antique cars). -
Planning a Trip to NJ Six Flags

The first time I rode KK, it was too much for me. My chest was hurting for a few minutes and even though it was a walk on after my first ride, I chose not to ride again. I tried it again a few weeks later and didn't have my chest hurt this time. I have yet to ride it more than 3 times in a day but haven't had any problems since then even though the launch still seems intense to me after 11 rides this past season. -

I found that mid to late May during the week and early June was the best since they go to daily operations around May 15th. Other than Kingda Ka Dark Knight and I think El Toro, all coasters were 5 minute waits or less and in most cases walk ons. Only bad thing is the park closes at 6:00. Even weekends up to June aren't too bad. I went last year on a Sunday in early June and every coaster in the park including Kingda Ka was a walk on. The only wait was the log flume because it was around 100 degrees out (yet the rapids had less than a 5 minute wait). -
Cygnus12's Jersey Shore Excursion

Even with no stores on the boardwalk, Ventnor's boardwalk would have had some people on it. They and I guess Margate too had a lot more year round residents. Seeing those pictures makes me wish it was summer. Being "down the shore" (Philadelphia term for those that don't know) is one of my favorite places. -
Splash Party - Vekoma's new coaster?
YoshiFan replied to AlmereStars's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, that is the biggest problem with Roller Soaker. It is a fun ride but not worth the wait it usually has. Based on 3 trains dispatching at once every 2 minutes, that's only 360 riders an hour and that is figuring every seat is filled which is way too low for a park that gets almost 3 million visitors a year. -

Wow, 2 water rides removed in 2 seasons. I can imagine that is going to make lines for the other water rides a lot longer. -
It's a well rounded park. Talon is a great invert, Steel Force and Voodoo good, Hydra and Thunderhawk are ok, Wild Mouse isn't too good. The water park is amazing, it is better than some standalone water parks with 2 lazy rivers, 2 wave pools and around 15 different slides. Another plus for the park is that lines are usually never a problem, especially on weekdays. Thundercreek Mountain is a unique terrain log flume and the flat collection is good. Dominator (S&S towers) and the Whip are my 2 favorites.

I thought Knoebels and PTC had a problem after they refused to put seatbelts on the coasters and PTC refused to service the coasters because of it? I don't know if that is 100% accurate but I remember reading about it here or possibly another site. -
Those plastic molding machines are so cool, I have a submarine and train from the science museum in Chicago.

Or bought a huge flat ride collection. What a waste of $7.5 million. I have never heard such negative comments about any coaster as I heard what people said about TDK while at Great Adventure this past season. Tons of people exiting saying how bad it is, and one guy even went so far as to say to the entire line in May, "Please, I'm begging you, get out of line, it's horrible." -
I hope the new version is a lot smoother. My last ride was in December 2006 and it was so rough I almost had a headache, the only other coaster to give me a headache was Hercules. I know it won't happen but I would have liked to have seen the 2 tracks completely different, keep 1 track as a regular not to intense coaster and make the other one a lot scarier, inversions, large drops, sharp banked turns etc.

Not counting kiddie flats, Jolly Roger (Zamperla Regatta) and Twister (Top Spin), Houdini also but it is SBNO. If you factor in Medusa, BBLTT and Road Runer Railway that is a total of 5 operating rides left from the 25 added in 1999. It is horrible, and combined with the Old Country area closed in 2008 alone I think 8 rides were either removed or SBNO, the balance of rides is horrible. It is almost all kiddie rides and coasters. It is still my favorite park to visit because of the coasters but some new flats and family rides really need to be added. Unfortunately, someone was at the Jackson planning meeting and no new rides are being added for 2009. Here is the current flat/non coaster ride list in the park: Carousel (in horrible shape) Tea Cups Twister Jolly Roger Buccaneer Parachutes (usually 1 or 2 out of 8 operating) Motion Simulator Rockin Tug Rapids (only open Memorial Day - Labor Day) Log Flume (same as rapids) Skyway Houdini, Bumper Cars, Music Express all SBNO For a park the size of Great Adventure, that is a really small list

I went there when it was Boardwalk and Baseball in 1989. I remember going on the Zamperla Dragon coaster and riding the 16 story ferris wheel (which I believe is now at Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, NJ). I also remember the dune buggies kiddie ride and looking at all the baseball exhibits and getting my picture taken in a Phillies jersey and them putting the picture on a baseball card. I remember really liking the park and wish I could have returned for another visit when I was older and ridden the larger coasters.

I'm really surprised to hear that, other than the stupid rule of no more than 2 adults per car on the Wild Mouse, I have found the park to be run really well. Talon, Hydra and Steel Force always run 2 trains unless they can't for weather reasons (in 40+ visits I have seen Talon run 1 train once, Hydra and Steel Force run 1 train twice each). Plus 4 restraint checkers on the B&M's and having all rides open during the summer season. I'm glad reading your post and the replies that people liked the park. I think it has an unfair bad reputation. -
Is that the Costco in Montgomeryville, PA? I thought it looked like it but I figured at least 1 other Costco had to look like that one but the Adult World right near by makes me thought it was. If it is, that is my local Costco and one of the nicer ones I have been to (King of Prussia's for example isn't too great). It is such an awesome store and so much better than Sam's Club.

Rockband drum kick pedal, $29.99 at Best Buy I had to buy this because the original pedal that comes with Rockband is a piece of junk and lasted less than 6 weeks! It is still under warranty but I know the replacement pedal from EA is going to break again so hopefully this new pedal will be better.

I can't believe the Eagles are actually advancing in the playoffs. A week ago it didn't even seem like they had a chance to get the wildcard.

Six Flags Great Adventure, hopefully on opening day April 4th. I hope my first ride will be Kingda Ka. Last year I went on April 12th (2nd weekend of operations) and at rope drop, less than 10 people ran to Kingda Ka and I got a walk on front seat ride, I hope to have the same thing happen this year.

Most memorable coaster moment of 2008?
YoshiFan replied to TheHulk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Family Fun Fall Night at Great Adventure on Friday 9/26/08. It was raining all day prior to the 5:00 opening, and misting when I got to the park. The park was dead, supposedly only 410 people showed up and when you consider how big Great Adventure is, you could look down a midway and see no one. I had quite a few solo coaster rides and even though they closed at 7:30 instead of 10:00, I got 23 rides in 2 1/2 hours. It was not only my most memorable visit to a park in 2008 but something I will never forget since I'm sure I'll never see the park that empty again. -

If it is leaving, I am really glad I rode it on my first trip in July. I wasn't going to ride it since it had about a 15 minute wait but I knew I might not be back so soon and decided to ride it. I would have been really annoyed at myself if I missed the credit.
