  1. If it wasn't for JK Rowling, the Harry Potter lands would have not been this immersive and ground-breaking for the theme park industry - and thus Disney would not have been forced to answer back with their immersive lands (Avatarland, Star Wars Land...). To me, the Dragons that closed a few days ago weren't the Dragons originally opened in '99. They lost their theming and the duel aspect. So we lose two good B&M inverts coasters, granted, but not the one-of-a-kind attraction it was back then. Seeing things this way might help get past the nostalgia.
  2. Chinese taking measurements to copy the trackstyle?
  3. I wasn't expecting that, this is neat to see this ride in the west! (of the world, the only one at the moment being in Hong Kong) I'd wish to see this ride with a more grounded and elegent design, tho. I really dig the concept, but so far the design of these machines is just... weird and squarish. I'm curious to see the new vest restraints, tho!
  4. No it's not long enough for two rows. The nose isn't a zero-car (separate bogie) like in the front, so it takes up some space.
  5. Yes, this water coaster is a clone of Divertical except the fact that it has no high MCBR before the last helix down. Therefore it is most likely that this coaster will have a slightly lower capacity than Divertical. It also have a way longer and more themed pre-lift rapid section, and a better placement inside the park than the secluded Divertical.
  6. The track is completed! Good news, it will officially feature an Helix of Death.
  7. No the prototype was not powered, it was just a small track to test the rotation of the vehicle I believe.
  8. Beautiful photos Zero One! Two things: I never noticed the weird typography for Dragon Challenge. Does it make any sense whatsoever...? It looks like they added trim brakes on the first drop of HRRR, I wonder when and why.
  9. It's quite ironic, as one of the victim had, during this fatal lap, his very first time on a ride ever. Talk about statistics!
  10. I don't think could be ripped off by hiting the floor. I mean, the floor would suffer more than the structurally sound swing arm. From this drawing, I put the gondola in the most lower case possible (in red), and it's still only grazing the floor at most. Can you lost a leg if the floor is up while running? Perhaps. Can a gondola be ripped of the main arm? Definitely not... I think the gondola hit the floor and railings after being detached. So far it reminds me of the Booster accident at La Fête des Loges in 2007. A gondola was thrown out due to a welding being weak, if I remember correctly. Fabbri blamed the subcontractor, and nobody saw anything in the non-destructive tests.
  11. Barbossa itself is really nice, but dang the effect is cheap. I'm really satisfied that all the animatronics are fluidly moving once again, and the duelists - while not being 100% operational as intended (but never really worked), are great, it's nice to see them back. I'm also really satisfied of the final rockin' chair Jack, its integration is way better than in the US in my opinion!
  12. I wish to see more Lech Coasters around the world for sure, but with custom layouts! Or we will get tired of it relatively quickly, and that'd be a bummer. Anyway, for those coming to Poland next year, Legendia will also open a new ride called Bazyliszek. Most likely a dark-ride, hmmmm. They will also do a make-over of the area around the Soquet looper. From what I understand, they like to keep their old attractions but revamp them. It's great to keep a Rainbow Huss, an Enterprise or that Flying Planes antiquity... although I'm not sure it's cool to keep that double-loop coaster. The two days I went, it was closed in the morning for "technical difficulties". They'd better get rid of it.
  13. Dongguan Qiguang Dynamic Steel Structure Co.,Ltd. (QDS)
  14. I come not only with a report, but a POV as well: Is Lech Coaster smooth? Definitely. It has a slight rattle/vibrations, akin to some Intamin or B&M rides, but nothing really disruptive (for instance I got more annoying vibrations on Helix or Alpina Blitz than on Lech). Then the layout itself is really, really smooth and flows so well. Not a single jerk. The pacing is also great and doesn't fade away toward the end as we could imagine from videos. No, even the pop to the brakes, or the tiny S-turn before that gives amazing EJECTOR. And by ejector, I mean it. All the airtime in Lech Coaster is ejector. From the drop to the end. Only the sideway hill is more of a floater, but it's still frank. The inversion through the station is amazing and throws you out of the seat as well. In hindsight, I have nothing negative to say about Lech. Maybe we can say the vest restraint is more restrictive than a lap-bar only, and that'd be true. But the vest was rather loose and did not press you too much on the collar bones, like B&M wing riders' and the older vest restraint trains from Vekoma do, I found. The bar keeps you firmly in your seat, tho, so those who like to have room for airtime might feel frustrated. Other than that, the layout is great and varied, awesome pacing, nice lenght... Plus, the park gave it a really nice queue inside of the U-turn which give awesome interaction, and it also has a preshow with an animated short movie. There's a background music and employees have dedicated outfit. They really did things right! - By the way, if you don't dig tight harnesses, the park also got this Soquet looping coaster... This is me being upside down without touching the bars at all (and yes, the harness is "closed". It can only lock at one position).
  15. Finally! I get to be "that guy" again! YEE-ESS! The 3.75G is probably the positives at the bottom of the loop. 180 km/h is 50 m/s, in 1.8 seconds, that's about 2.83 G accelerating. Still bonkers crazy. But it's now 1.56 seconds, not 1.8. The linear acceleration is 3.3g for these values (180km/h, 1.56 sec), but as gerstlaueringvar said, there is most likely a jerk at the beginning. Despite the changes in both speed and time being minimal, if my math is correct the launch has been upgraded to 120% of its original strength.
  16. Karla you're right... although there is definitely a change in gradiant earlier in the lift hill, as seen on this picture by TowersStreet:
  17. You forgot this image of the megacoaster: It looks like a Mack to me (the first drop), as the one being build in Australia this year.
  18. When the track is rotated at 90°, the seats are upright. You can have the station, and why not a dark-ride part. When the track is upside down like a inverted coaster, the seats rotate on a vertical axis and are now in flying position.
  19. Long time no see... It should be close to completion, right? DOF Robotics, a young turkish company, is providing the park with a motion-simulator: By the way, the park is also getting a Flying Theater... Do we know who is the manufacturer? It got a semi-sphere screen, like the chinese versions... but may it be DOF Robotics again? They have a Flying Theater on their catalogue... with a twist, like literally it can do barrel rolls:
  20. The first screenshot gives us the three diferents routes I guess: - Heldentour (Tour of Heroes) - Musiektour (Tour of Music) - Schattentour (Tour of Treasure)
  21. You must be right, I didn't even know this one. Dang, how many knock-off companies are there?... No they are not called both, Oblivion is a name of one (or multiple) particular model(s), but Freak Out is the one and only factory name.
  22. You can also follow OCEM SRL as they are the ones manufacturing the track.
  23. No, the Freak Out is the small, one trailer version, whereas the Afterburner is the two trailers version. Freak Out Afterburner Oblivion is the name of a (or multiple) Freak Out it seems.
  24. It's definitely a Funlight indeed. I can see where the "light" comes from seeing how flimsy the seats are, but not the "fun". And by the way, the KMG model is called a Freak Out.
