  1. You do recall correctly. I didn't know this was a thing. The major drawback seems to be the capacity, tho. With 4 persons/boat... - I personally enjoy raft rides. It's always a good laugh, each time is different (it's like a russian roulette: who'll get soaked?) and it's very family friendly - or you can even met new people. A hidden gem would be the one at Parque Warner! Many many water jets coming right at you, and the ending throws you around like crazy.
  2. Fixed that for them, if you know what I mean:
  3. Huh?? Yeah, they should have said "Maurer AG, which was previously called Maurer Söhne". Typo, I guess!
  4. But I think you're right. The park said 16 seats, so...
  5. I only see 2 gondolas with 4 seats each. Well, to quote... yourself (on NLE): I think the concept art is just simplified, but yeah in the end that makes 4 gondolas, though they are grouped 2 by 2.
  6. My experience with Maurer is a hit and miss. I had great fun on Rock it (rode it only once, tho), I loved Shock and Abismo (the Sky loop inversion is genius ). As far as the look goes, I like HRRR and Abismo, but Shock is ugly as hell. Same with Freischütz and its quasi-clone in Romon Park (not rode). As for the spinners, Tarantula, Cagliostro and Winjas are fun, but somewhat violent : Laterals are strong, brakes are harsh... When the wagon enters the station, it stops and open the bars right of the bat, neary ejecting you from the seat. Litteraly : The worst tho is Crush. It made me sick once because in total darkness, you don't know how you are positioned (tilted? pitched? flat?). The mechanism to put the wagons straight again is the absolute worst, it sometimes hurts
  7. The designer of this ride is Benjamin Bloemendaal, who is, as his name suggest, dutch. Nothing to do with Ride Centerline (USA) then, which is composed of Alan Shilke and Joe Draves (among others? I don't know). Bloemendaal started working with Vekoma for Orkanen.
  8. Maybe 48 as 2 trains of 24 places each, which is pretty standard for GCI?
  9. Here is the wheel configuration, from a patent I found a while ago: There are these two, too. There're the same but filled under the two companies names: Maurer Beutler Yeah, my guess was also that it's a powered coaster, just like the transport system shown by Henry M right above (the white track).
  10. You're already doing a great job, so keep it up, that would be all I have to say.
  11. The positif aspect to that unfortunate delay is that the vegetation is already growing back and it's looking awesome!
  12. Eventually it'll get replaced (some noise pollution surveys have been found, maybe a Marvel stuff?), but not in the near future.
  13. I enjoyed the pictures as much as the text. Thank you for the report!
  14. Anubis IS amazing! No rough at all, and the launch is certainly the best I've been on. I like it way better than Furius Baco, Desert Race or iSpeed. It's so awesome because it has a very small course, and you really wonder when you face it how the heck you'll be able to gain enough speed in that short lenght. And somehow you acheive it! And the airtime on the top-hat is incredible.
  15. Haha, from this post in the very first page of this topic... ... to this concept KMG came with: (it's a screenshot I took from this video) Now I don't know if it's a new concept or an old idea of them, but it's basically an Intamin First-gen Freefall with a loop!
  16. I figured out the layout of POTC based on a satellite overview: Original Google Earth picture That's a rushed first version, I'd have to watch the POV over and over and fine-tune some details - especially at the beginning.
  17. If you're confused about what's going on in the Pirates of the Caribbean POV, or if you want to know what are the effects used, I made this ride analysis. Y'ALL BE WARNED: It does contain the word squinching.
  18. I re-uploaded all the POV from the long Youku park tour individually:
  19. Well, Ratatouille and even Curse of the DarKastle (and more) do use squinching while having 3D projections. So Universal sure has a patent on that, but it might not be exclusive, or it's a matter of how you acheive that.
  20. Haha, no sorry, my fault, I should have explain it first. And no, Musion is a brand, and a Musion Eyeliner is a thin metalized film that is used to make people appears on stage for instance. Or think of all Harry Potter cast appearance in their rides.
  21. None are musion I guess, they are just using squinching.
  22. They added new magnetic fins on the lift! First the colors, and now that, I mean, it can't be a coincidence, can it? I'm so thrilled it's actually happening!
  23. Well, I kind of tried it on NoLimits, but yeah, it would be borderline intense. Though, not as much as you said: Mondial's Capriolos are very famous for their "hedghop" move, which is basically locking down the gondola upward while the main arm is at the apex, and then making the arm do a full loop, and that pulls an impressive -3.5g. I survived that (and liked it) and so thousand of riders each year, so I'd say it isn't unsafe. (more infos)
  24. They have been designed by two different persons, though. LR is Joe Draves' work while Storm Chaser belongs to Alan Shilke. The two rides ride differently, but what about the part where they are quite similar: their first big airtime hill? Wich one is better in your opinion?
