Phantasialand Discussion Thread
KingRCT3 replied to roeterich's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know all the love going on around Hollywood Tour, and, despite that it didn't do much on me, fair enough, leave it alone. What bother me actually is the gigantic building above it, for the same reason than the dome, it's ugly and stuck in the past. But if they really want to keep ToTNH (which isn't a bad ride in itself), VR is a way to go. Honestly, that was the first and only coaster that came to my mind when VR was starting to pop around. I mean, the ride section of this ride is already pitch black. And by pitch black I mean pitch black. -

Ugh, thankfully! That dome was an eyesore, honestly. Next step, Temple of the Night Hawk/Hollywood Tour! -

Using the word proof might just be a language error from KingRCT since I think English is not his native language. Yes, thank you, that's exactly it. I used proof for a lack of a better word. My point was that we have this clue, plus this clue, plus this clue, all leading toward an hypothesis (rather than a proof ) that I think is quite probable. Then again, plans might change. Sorry for the fuss! -

Do you guys even read my post? I basically proved that it will be a Hyper GT-X 2125 based on the plan and the fact there is one currently under construction at Chance's factory. -

The pull through test is not only about testing clearance. In fact, there is no clearance envelope here. This test is also to verify if the track pieces are well-aligned and have no defaults ; to see if the brakes, tires and all the mechanisms are in place and align with the underside of the train, etc. -

The other day I made a lovely discovery. Chance Rides posted this picture on their Facebook page: It's yet again a different track style than Lightning Run or Family Roller Coaster at Wildlife World Zoo... And then I was wandering throught their Youtube channel and found the Hyper GT-X 2125, basically a Lightning Run re-arranged... with a twist-ending. See: To me, the piece at the factory can be the section between 0:49 and 0:53 (turn and first mini S-hill). And the layout definitely matches the one on Rye's site plan (9 & 10)! -

Well, there are three of them for sure, saying there is a fourth one at the bottom is taking a bet. -

All VR googles, even the cheap cardboard ones, have lenses indeed. It couldnot work without them. They make looking at the screen not bothering at all - you only see the pixels better. -

Nope, it's an employee of Damstra Techniek BV, the company that erected Lost Gravity. Along with the picture was this sentence: -

It doesn't, there is the bumper in the way. But the one on the ride sign over the entrance does spin! -
Ha ok, thanks for the recap! As a big fan of squinching, I'm thrilled (as long as screen are mixd with physical elements, and animatronics!). By the way, this technic of image distortion has been developed by Scott Trowbridge (for Spider-Man, of course), and this man is now working on Star Wars land. That is no coincidence.

Looks like an Intamin design indeed, so either it's a genuine Intamin, or a knock-off. Is that bridge supposed to be a walkway, tho?? -

Isn't it just a top-hat wich is bend over on the top. A Wave turn Is still far from this in my opinion. Yes, for me it isn't the same thing neither. Though I won't say it's just a slanted top-hat, I think it's awesome on its own. -

Which one are you talking about? I don't see any RMC influence in here. -

That's some really nice stone work, indeed! About Fluch Von Novgorod, does anybody have an explanation about why this bit of track is grey/white? It bugs me since its opening! -

Yes they do talk about the station, but I think it also implies the track will follow the same treatment. -

I don't know what you guys don't get in "scenic painting starting next week" and "photo shows work in progress". No need to worry! -
I just made my own interpretation of RMC's T-REX track: - A triangular shape instead of a box spine (only two metal sheets instead of three). Note that those are a wee too fine in my model, but that's the idea. - Hole cuts for a less bulky look. I have no idea how realistic it is, but I somehow like the look of it.
-
As you said parkjunkie, the T-REX track won't be able to do much more than a traditional coaster when it comes to a layout and its elements. The benefits are real, however, when it comes to the construction process and especially the fact that you drop the pipe bending process, which is very tedious and tend to cause a significant fatigue in the material of the pipe. Source: Coaster 101 by Nick Weisenberger. Basically, T-REX track equals: - Greater support span -> reduced cost, as footers are expensive. - Smoother ride -> Shaping a flat surface is easier than shaping a steel tube. - Longer durability in time
