Lightning Rod Media Day
coasterlvr replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
these two pictures make me drool! that quadruple down/twist and shout, whatever this is...looks awesome! and were those mini chocolate cream pies?!? yum! -
Good to know. I would had thought that Tuesday and Wednesday of that week will be less busy than Friday. Are we talking so dead that TC will be a walk-on all day? We're talking so dead that you can walk on to every ride in the park including TC, X2, and YOLO all day from opening to closing as many times as you want. Buried somewhere in this thread from several years back is a photo TR from that day showing all the midways just completely empty. It is also a Honda ERT early entry day, with TC and Scream as the coasters. I will be there! oh how i miss those years long ago when they kept daily operation thru september. usually, only half to two thirds at the very most of the first section of parking lot was used. more people at costco at any given time.

Maverick vs Millennium Force
coasterlvr replied to ImNotOneOfYou's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
i wish i could try out the new maverick restraints this year. i dunno if i'm just the right size, but no matter how hard i try, the turn out of the launch always slams the crap out of my neck. i can ride out the rest of the awesomeness of maverick but that one turn, i just can't help but hit my neck. so, i'm hoping that won't be an issue with the new restraints. but i like this big drops, and, i'll even like a one hit wonder like TTD over some more complete rides like maverick. so MF gets my vote. i'm sure if you polled 500 people, it would be split. no clear winner. -
i sometimes think that magic mountain could use an off season. i'd think that they would do complete maintenance on all the ride trains, clean up stations, pour concrete freshen up paint, etc. all the stuff other parks do. they must really have a tight, tight budget to run the park. still, i'm sure they can get more out of all their employees. instead of changing the fence covering around scream, i think they should have fixed up the HH fence and walkway first. just random thoughts of mine. lol

Fright Fest begins the last weekend in September so that is why they are open to 1am. Typically the first Friday in october October is a slow day and I am planning on going. yeah, usually those Friday, days are pretty dang dead. like, don't need to have any kind of ride plan to get a lot of rides in.

all i know is on full throttle it seems to hit instantly. there's doesn't seem to be that split second where you feel it just starting to go. at least for me, it feels this way because if i don't have my back just right on the seat, it bothers me from the initial jolt. it's the only launch coaster that does that to me. wether it be the seat or the launch system, i just need to be sitting correctly.

Your longest coaster road trip
coasterlvr replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
mine isn't huge, and it was a long time ago. fly, LA - CLE go to Cedar Point for a couple days. Drive to Kennywood, one day there. Kennywood to Kings Island. Kings Island to Kentucky Kingdom. then back to Cedar Point for a couple more days. I don't remember how many days we were at Kings Island. I just remember it was a 10 day trip. somewhere around 96-98. I think it was Chang's first year at Kentucky Kingdom. -

Ewwwww what an A$$, I would've gotten his name and made a complaint. No reason for security to throw their weight (no pun) around i've seen/read reports of them closing the single rider line from time to time. really don't understand the thinking about that one. i've personally seen them hold part of the single rider line in the front by the coke machines, then let a few at a time down to the line. just another one of those, sfmm wtf, moments.
