  1. There is no mention of the evening pass on the website. I am also wondering what is the cost and if it is still offered for 2015. 5 hours is plenty of time to hit the coasters and most of the rides, including the train and beautiful sky ride. The 10pm closing time will give you the opportunity for night rides on Boulder Dash, which is one of the best coaster experiences to be had.
  2. Hi guys. My wife and I are visiting for the first time June 19 and 20. It looks like a season pass is the best option for a 2 day visit, unless anyone knows of discount tickets nearby. Gold passes include parking and a mention of early ride times, but not much else. Are early rides everyday? What time? Is it just on Fury? Any details would be much appreciated. I'm thinking silver passes and staying across the road and walking, but a gold pass would open up more hotel options. Thanks!
  3. I don't think they look down on your actions, it is just unusual to do what you did. Nothing wrong with it and good on you for being honest, but it's suspicious sounding and I can't blame the alarms going off in their heads. It sounds like your running drugs, LOL. Once you got inside and explained everything to the agents, I can see them being ok. I constantly cross the border for coaster trips. I sometimes wonder if they keep a record of what I am doing.
  4. Welcome to our commuting nightmare. There is the option of the 407 toll highway, however it would cost about $20 one way to Wonderland!
  5. It's interesting reading all this from an outsiders protective. You all live in the same country but are divided by States that have such extreme and different laws.
  6. I love cruising and Star Wars. This is going to be hard to resist, as it's so me. I found Star Wars days at WDW so packed and chaotic. This will be busy, but more much manageable and easy going. Celebrities on the ship too! Turning the Night club into the Cantina would actually get me down there. Unfortunately, as expected, the already pricey Disney cruise is even more for these sailings.
  7. So true! It's like the busy intersection that "should" allow all four ways to move, yet without a policeman, no direction moves due to the insanity. Busy days should always had a ride line attendant, as the budget coincidentally allows for it.
  8. Well, I am still in your group. I can appreciate good theming. I enjoy Magic Kingdom, because it reminds me of my childhood. Of course, I always have fun on in the newest technological rides like Harry Potter, Transformers and such. Being a coaster enthusiast, it will always be the biggest, newest, coolest coaster that will be the final determining factor where we visit. I usually do one "coasterthon" trip with family every year. Next year, the SFNE area is on the radar.
  9. Alpine coasters are popping up everywhere, particularly ski resorts. I have been on 5. I find them very similar, with the same elements, like the end spiral. The Jamaican bobsled version in Ochoa Rios is the craziest, fastest I have been on and the only one where I considered letting off and not going "balls out". The ride attendent gives you a running push to start and you fly by so many close trees. So fun!
  10. Why is Ziz a terrible name? Not liking the name is not an acceptable reason. If they build a flying or winged coaster, the name fits perfectly, as it is a flying creature. It would provide great theming potential. It's not dumb, it is only logical. The parks picks Behemoth. When they built their next coaster, they decide on the name most commonly associated with Behemoth. They are almost forced to use "ziz", by their own doing, especially due to the design. It's not like they made the other biblical names up by chance. I can guarantee that Cedar Fair is quite aware of the name Ziz and what it stands for. Anything can happen, but there is no reason that Ziz is not being heavily considered.
  11. One last back row ride on El Toro, before the world ends.
  12. I voted this year for the first time. Some random thoughts; I picked CP over Europa Park. The wood list is pretty solid. New coasters like Goliath, usually don't rank high in their first year on the GTA's. Diamondback is a little high, but it is my favorite hyper. I voted Behemoth higher than Leviathan. I voted SkyRush #1. Disappointed about IRat and I305. If you really want to make a difference, contact Tim Baldwin at Amusement Today. Explain why you would make a good voter and if your selected, help them make better results.
  13. 1. Ghoster Coaster, Canada's Wonderland. 100. Great Bear, Hershey Park 200. X2, SFMM. 300. Iron Rattler, SFFT. 376. Guardian, Canada's Wonderland yesterday.
  14. I have also done an East Coast and Mid America trip. Problem with this plan is your trying to combine both, which is making for some killer drives. Any chance of keeping it all East Coast with additions like SFNE, Lake Compounce, Hershey, SFGAd and Busch? Or even all Mid trip with SFGAm, Indiana Beach and SDC and dropping the Southern parks. SFA is not a good park. Unless your credit counting, I would swap that day for another park. After a long day at KD, I would hate to be driving that 5th hour. Have you been to Busch Gardens? Splitting up the drive by spending a day there and riding there good selection of coasters is a good idea. Unless your sharing ALL the driving, this is a burnout vacation, you might need a week to recuperate after.
  15. There are many families of four who can not even afford a day at the park, never mind a flash pass. Should they be angry or show resentment at those that can afford to go to Six Flags? Attending a theme park is not a right, it's a privilege. Patrons should be thankful that they can do so, as others are not as fortunate as them. Someone is always going to have more money, more possessions and more perks.
  16. Season passes are different prices at different parks. The perks are also park exclusive and not transferable. Unfortunately you will need to go back to NJ to get your SFGAd pass processed and then you can visit other parks, just like you already mentioned.
  17. 2 Words. Disco Yeti I really wish people would stop complaining about the yeti. It's really stupid. In fact, I feel that most people who complain about the yeti have never actually seen the original version of it! IMO the Yeti is not really "broken." What is "broken" about the yeti is that it shouldn't have been a giant, expensive-as-hell AA in the first place since you see if for a total of 1.5 seconds as you fly by it at 30 MPH. It's not like the Lava Monster in Journey where the ride stops, you can look at the character do it's "show" and then you move on. Even when it worked you wouldn't believe how many people totally missed it. It was one of those "If you blink you miss it" situations. Like I said, I think the real mistake wasn't about if it's working or not working, but the overall design and placement of that scene in the ride. And because of that, I don't think we will ever see the yeti get "fixed." IMO, the "really awesome expensive yeti animatronic" should have gone in the scene where the yeti rips up the track is. Then you'd REALLY be able to see how awesome that figure is! Realistically, it was just a huge waste of money. 100% agree with this. Broken or working, you have no time to appreciate it where it is. It does seem a little silly for those that have never seen the Yeti perform to complain. It's present state, motionless in a corner, with strobe lights, does make it difficult to see. For those of us that have seen the true performance though, I can say it was REALLY impressive and I don't see how anyone could miss him. His hair blowing in the wind as he reached way down at the coaster, was almost impossible too miss. I rode multiple times, too marvel at his aggression, as it looked so real. There is a good documentary, (found on YouTube) of the building of Everest, that shows how massive the Yeti is and it's full motion for those who have never seen it.
  18. This unfortunate victim was more concerned with their rights and causing a scene, than anything else. The operators felt the best solution was to give in to pressure, risk his life and allow him to ride. It shows improper training and I fear that he was destined to ride, as even management might have succumbed to the war vet, who sacrificed himself for our freedom. You can't expect the public to know the rides limitations, no matter how obvious the situation is to us. It does boggle the mind wondering what the ops were thinking. Seat belt, check, around the kneecaps doing nothing. Harness, check, against his torso, not his non-existent legs. All clear, have fun with that airtime!
  19. LOL, I think many of us are experiencing similar problems as we age, but still ride coasters. My biggest problem is simply standing for an extended time. It really effects my back and I won't wait for any ride longer than 30 minutes. Thanks to line reducing options I have been accustomed to being spoiled, but it's becoming increasingly expensive. A platinum Flash Pass to ride Goliath is $210 for two people!
  20. Well, if you only have one day, it's relatively busy and you want to ride ALL the coasters, then yes it is definitely worth it. I would buy a Gold pass with X2 and do Full Throttle first, then reserve your way around the park. This question is always asked, but without enough info. The answer can change on your goals, expectations, time and length of visit, personal circumstances, and etc, etc. For example, if you arrive at opening, you can ride X2, Tatsu, and Superman and possibly another ride with little waits. From then on, the waits will increase dramatically as the day goes on, but you will ride most. For some that's a good day, for others who can't wait an hour for a ride, it's terrible.
  21. Koasterking48 gave some great info on everything, especially if you only have one day. I like to spend 2 days there as the water park is that good and can justify a full day. If this is your first time, and crowds are light, I would recommend riding Raven, Legend, and then Voyage. Working your way up to the big coaster, let's you appreciate the smaller ones better.
  22. I addressed the fact that I was unfamiliar with the park. I didn't have a knee jerk reaction where I just decided not to go based on one incident before asking about it, but I think for someone who knows basically nothing about the park to ask a question about the parks clientele after someone gets stabbed in the neck as a result of potential gang violence (according to police) is completely justified and not "silly" at all. Your reaction was considering not to go. I wanted to ensure you that you are safe to have a great time. You will see what I am talking about and may agree that it was a "little" silly to worry about visiting. That is a good thing. CP is right between two of Americas most dangerous cities, and your not worried.
  23. It is unfortunate that an isolated incident can negatively impact someone already. I excuse your ignorance, but you are acting a little silly and have nothing to worry about. Your chances of seeing or being involved in an incident at CP are exponentially higher than cute, little, Waldemeer. Do not miss a chance to check out this fun park because of some losers, who live everywhere.
  24. I used to love coaster grotto. I still often use it for my top 20 coasters because it shows all the coaster logos. I've since switched to Coaster-Count because of the easiness of use and the inclusion of more non traditional credits.
  25. The "Alpine Coaster" seems to be popping up everywhere. I don't see how they can not be considered coasters. They have a very large lift hill that you ride to the top and a fun gravity ride down. There is an old school version still left in Peterborough and another two hours South of Toronto at Holiday Valley Ski Resort. I have been on them in Haiti and Jamaica too!
