  1. Heading there today with the family! Hopefully crowds are better than Friday. Anyone else going? Marriot brand hotels in the Cincinnati area, even their cheap hotels, offer a 4 pack of tickets with your stay and starlight admission for $10 the day you arrive. Pretty good deal as tickets ended up about $20 each with our Town Place Suites hotel.

If you got balls, do the jump from the Stratosphere. It actually is a slow glide down, it's just committing to jump that's hard. New York is not only rough but a rip off, but yeah sit near front and get the credit. I rented a car from my hotel and went to Buffalo Bills. Easy drive. The coaster is not bad, kind of intense in spots. I won $350 at the casino and went next door to the outlet mall to spend my winnings! So it can be a fun day out in Primm.
  3. Your visiting in early May, which will result in small crowds, especially if you arrive at opening. Regardless, all line skipping options will not sell out this early in the season , so feel out the park and then decide. No need to spend and potentially waste your money in advance. You can buy the day of at all parks your visiting. One thing to consider, Goliath at Great America is to open late May.
  4. I booked a trip here for June 12. Every year, I usually go try a new coaster and I always worry it won't be done in time. By now, I should have learned, but I just get too excited and can't wait. The way I see it, this coaster has to be completed in 8 weeks to leave enough time for testing and etc, to even have a chance to be open by June 1. I do know one thing. No way, does that steel coaster lift, go up in only a couple days with a few crane lifts.
  5. It has to be repaired some time though as engines are not running at full speed. RCC states no changes to Western Caribbean cruises, because it will be ready for those long trips,,,,, which I just booked! Arriving a few hours late, say for Cozumel, would result in a cancelation of my excursion that day. It is already a jam packed snorkel day. Dealing with lateness in every port would really put a dent in people's vacation.
  6. True Dat. We have already discussed how the canceling has brought more attention to the bands than actually playing. There are more reasons the bands cancelled. You would be naive to believe that many of them actually give a rats ass about SeaWorld, animals, etc. Most were bombarded and heavy pressured by radical groups that threatened the bands future bottom line $$. It made financial sense to pull out, rather than risk future boycotts of these bands products that already have low sales numbers.
  7. The snow on Wonder Mountain almost looks too perfect to be natural. Reminds me of the Matterhorn. Should Wonderland consider adding fake snow to the mountain? It looks great with the real stuff!
  8. Dorney Park. It seems to constantly get old coasters from other parks, which many of us have already been on. I would like to visit, but it needs a shiny "new" reason to get me to go.
  9. I thought you were coming for at least 2 weeks, maybe more? You can easily fit all those parks in, maybe more depending on your plans. You have to ride I305 at KD, and Busch is such a beautiful park not to be missed. Anyway to fit in Hershey on your way up to Ohio? SkyRush is a must. I would also suggest stopping for only a few hours at Knoebels to ride Phionex. If you have been to SeaWorld Orlando, then Texas is the same, but worse coasters. Do not miss IRat at SF Fiesta.
  10. I drove all the middle USA parks last summer from Chicago to Texas. The only tough drive was 8h from Branson to Dallas. The rest was all 3h to 4h between parks. We usually drove this early morning before most parks opened around 10am. To try and add any East coast parks would just be too much. I think the whole East coast starting at SF New England and ending in Georgia or even Florida would be an awesome trip by itself.
  11. Visiting England for the first time, Alton Towers was an adventure to drive too. Left side of the road, left shifter, narrow country roads, dodging buses, were all obstacles leading me to what looked like nowhere, until a theme park decided to show up. So crazy!
  12. My list of 10 non CGI, non Intamin, comfortable old woodies, from my favorite to least with "relative" smoothness rating. Phoenix, Knoebels 9 Beast, Kings Island 6 Comet, Great Escape 7 Grand National, Blackpool 7 Viper, SFGAm 9 Comet, Hershey 7 Giant Dipper, Santa Cruz 7 Jack Rabbit, Kennywood 7 Screaming Eagle, SFSL 7 Jack Rabbit, Seabreeze 9
  13. It would cost much more money for the park to refurbish the track than for a new coaster. When Astroworld closed, the coaster was not disassembled correctly, and most of the track was heavily damaged. Also, the track has been sitting out in the elements for so many years that it is more valuable as scrap metal than a coaster. I work in the business. Scrap steel is worth approximately $200 a tonne (2000 lbs). A little more if you prepare it yourself and considerably less if someone has to do the work for you. I am not familiar with the coaster and can only guess the weight. Some people on here may be have a better idea, but I would say there is at least 200 tonne (400 000 lbs) laying in that field. So if a company was willing to pay $150t to clean it up for them, there is about $30 000 to be made. I would imagine that the various past managements would have had trouble being responsible for scraping a million dollar coaster for so little in comparison. Unfortunately, time goes and on and it has got to the point where it is time to just clean up the eyesore now, even if it is hidden in long grass, and recoup some money.
  14. I just rode the "Leviathan" coaster on GTAV. Virtual credit!
  15. I used to visit the park often. It was a pretty good park 5+ years ago when the had the slash sessions with the Orcas. You could get real close and the tank was one of the largest in the world, bigger than any Seaword exhibit. I remember 3 Adults and one baby. Sadly, 2 have passed on and SeaWorld had to aggressively repossess their whale leaving the lone Orca. Obviously the whale is alone and sad. They have been try to find another for some time.
  16. Do Fahrenheit first, then Storm Runner. Skyrush you should do later in the day. Wildcat and Lightning Racers you can do at any time of day because people just sort of forget they're over there, especially LR. Whenever I visit a new park or park with a new ride, I now always hit the premier attraction first and then follow the recommended strategy. The heartbreak of missing a ride due to breakdown, especially if it was running in the morning, is something I have experienced too often. The fact that you can come back later and try some night rides is a bonus.
  17. Have you been on Boulder Dash? Lake Compounce is a beautiful little park. My work commute is 2hrs home everyday. If I found myself a mere 2hrs away from the GTA's newest best wood coaster, I'd be gone. You can also hit Quassy too on the way.
  18. We've discussed the problems plaguing this park. They leave a bad impression on voters. It's the same reason, parks with good reputations seem to get more favorable results. While the intention is to vote purely on the coasters, human emotions will always play a factor.
  19. This is by far the best plan. You get to ride Boulder Dash, El Toro and SkyRush. World class coasters. You could also go try the Timberliners at Quassy on your way to Compounce. Awesome trip.
  20. As long as you haven't been on Kingda Ka, I think TTD is the perfect coaster experience to celebrate 100. From the rooftops, shout it out!
  21. I have been putting of going on a Kings Island, Holiday World trip until they install the Timberliners. That didn't work out, but too my surprise, I will be able to ride Banshee now! I've learned to just go, whatever happens, happens. You can end up driving 10 hours to ride the newest coaster and it might not even be running.
  22. I agree on questioning the bold statements. Are they are saying that this ride has the potential to be better than Transformers, Spider-Man, Harry Potter, Test Track and etc or better than Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story, MIB shooters? If it becomes true though, we are in for a great ride and at a Cedar Fair park too! Unbelievable!
  23. I think the Canadian reputation of politeness and cleanliness must have been made true and thus left a big impression on you. I like to think it makes a difference. I must agree on operations. Even the Great Cedar Point suffers from frequent breakdowns. Aside from Windseeker, a down ride, especially coasters, at Wonderland is very rare.
