  1. Hope you have a good day and crowds are manageable. On a busy day, it's hard to ride all the coasters and make time for the great flats. I'd recommend waiting for the front seat on Behemoth (best airtime over the parabolic hills) and back row on Leviathan (nice air when pulled over the lift hill). Don't miss a front row ride on Vortex (one of the few remaining suspended coasters). Keep in mind that traffic on a Friday is terrible around Toronto, especially the afternoon rush.
  2. Go to Playland, ride Coaster, my new #3 fav woodie! The park is small and very family ride oriented. It doesn't have a lot of charm, or shade for that matter. Looks like a huge carnival from most angles. Nevertheless, it's does have one of the best coasters on the planet! The standup airtime is insane! Hope they never change it.
  3. Easy. Coaster at Playland, Vancouver. The best traditional (non RMC, etc) wood coaster in the world, never mind best under 75'.
  4. Visited the park today for the first time. I was not prepared for what would be one if the best wood coaster rides of my life! Back seat on Coaster! I have never felt such airtime that bounced me out of my seat and then proceeded to make me stand up, despite my best efforts not to. I'm sure the no seat belt, genuine lap bar had a lot to do with it and the best comparison would be Phoenix at Knoebels, which is my top 3 woodie. Every time we came into the brake run, the smiles and laughs were great. It's been a while since I had a good laugh on a coaster and Coaster delivered. I am blown away, can't stop talking about it. A true hidden gem in this hobby. Thank you Playland!
  5. My fav Steel too, probably because it reminds me of my fav woodie El Toro. I still give the edge to Toro, it's a slightly better overall ride and length. At night time, on a slick track, El Toro delivers an incredible and noticably better ride compared to when the park opens. SkyRush delivers anytime. Intamin masterpieces!
  6. Not being a destination park, it's reasonable on weekdays but slammed on weekends. Despite crowds, my strategy is always the same. Arrive at 9:30am. Carry or wear your swim attire underneath. Be first in at 10am. Ride Raven, the walk down to ride Legend. Head into waterpark to change and line up at rope drop for 11am. Go do the two water coasters first, re- ride Wildebeest. Work my way around the waterpark until lines become too long. Change, have Turkey dinner. Ride Voyage front and back, then Thunderbird. On the way up the hill and out, ride Raven and Legend at night. Second day, still arrive at opening and do whatever the Wife wants (usually lazy river), mission was accomplished yesterday.
  7. ^^ It's like Universal was so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. LOL
  8. Does this park not have any standby lines? If not, then the solution to Tapu Tapu is simple, add them. Right now a completely reserved system will have capacity issues, unless it's a near empty park. The park wasn't even at full capacity and look what happened. How was this not foreseeable? The only way I see the current system working is to charge substantially higher admission and limiting guests, but that's not going to go over well.
  9. You can wear everyday clothes into the waterpark, but how are you going to change into DRY everyday clothes when you leave? I hate seeing inconsiderate people riding coasters, or any ride, while still completely wet, leaving smelly and wet puddles for the rest of us to sit in. I once saw a few people at Holiday World that looked like they walked right off the street into Slashin Safari. Shoes, socks and all! I could not wait to follow them down the slide and bath in their sock water. I wish Holiday world would be more strict on these matters to be honest. I regularly wear a Rash Gaurd shirt that is light, yet offers UV protection. I used to burn my shoulders all the time and now I never do. They also attach to your shorts to give some added back comfort on body slides and they don't affect your slide performance like cotton shirts can.
  10. I don't know about that.... I've seen some pretty fast freaking lift hills lately. Hell, they could do a cable lift... And BAM!! Problem solved. SkyRush and El Toro have fast cable lifts, I wonder how much faster the tech could be speed up. Probably not Lightning Rod fast, but if they increased the hill to match the drop speed, they would end up with a higher, more airtime initial drop and essentially the same ride, maybe even better.
  11. I've stayed at all the Cedar Point resorts. Whether it's worth it is relative to your standards and expectations. In May (which is when we always go), the rooms are reasonably priced and the perks mentioned are so awesome. Since the renovation, I love Hotel Breakers. Relaxing by the outdoor fireplaces after a long day was great. 7 days at Cedar Point would be overkill for me and the price of staying at the resorts would add up to much. Your 4 nights will be plenty. I would definitely hit up Kings Island during your stay. CLP is about 3 hours away, not 40 min. If your heading that way for a day, you might as well stop by Waldemeer for the Ravine Flyer!
  12. Like Soaring on steroids! I can only imagine how fun and maybe a little "intense" this ride is. Such amazing visuals.
  13. For what's it's worth,,, I had a great time in the Dells, including Mount Olympus, last time I visited. Albeit, that was close to 10 years ago and I hear some things have gone downhill, but I have all good memories. Cyclops with the insane ejector air, Hades was the most intense, out of control coaster I'd have ever been on, especially at night, it was fantastic. Hellcat or its former name Avalanche (can't remember what it was when I went), was an awesome little woodie. Combined with a visit to Noah's Ark waterpark, a ride on the Dells Duck boats and some local beer, it was a successful stop during one of my coaster tours. Sad if it's become truly as bad as people say. I try to have a good time no matter where I go. Managing expectations is key.
  14. Sticking with one hotel chain (we use Hilton brand of hotels), is probably the best tip. Using their rewards program will get you free nights, breakfasts, high speed, email deals, etc. I like Hilton because there is usually always a Hampton nearby any destination or a vacation property with suites for bigger family trips. AAA is always good for deals, plus you can lock your keys in your car while visiting the park and be OK! I have booked a suite for Hershey Park next weekend using their rate while still getting my Hilton points. I find breakfast is essential for park trips, so any hotel which includes a decent hot one can surprisingly save you a lot after multiple days. I've never tried an extreme budget airline (usually stick to Southwest out of Buffalo or WestJet in Canada) and enroll in their benefit programs. The WestJet Visa has saved me hundreds, as they have $99 companion rates.
  15. The Beast looks awesome and very high! Does it swing further than 90 degrees?
  16. My wife will not be going in any haunted house, she barely makes it into The Haunted Mansion, LOL. The threat of scare actors in Universal's King King almost kept her from riding! Thanks for the tips though, we are visiting the Capilano suspension bridge that you recommended.
  17. Splash Works has had a lazy river since inception. Clearly visible on the previous pictures recently posted or any "maps" website.
  18. I'm surprised how early the park closes on some of the dates we will be in town (3pm). It looks like we will visit Sat June 24, as we should be able to fit the 6pm close time into our schedule. I assume there is no lights around the park? I imagine Coaster would be a great night ride.
  19. An awesome trip! Have you been to any of these parks before? That would change some of my strategies. Visiting in the prime of summer, your bound to run into crowds somewhere. Cedar Point will be very challenging/frustrating/maddening on the Friday/Saturday your visiting without Fast Lane. Kentucky Kingdom. Out of State pricing was $25 last year, incredible deal. I was able to ride all the coasters in half a day and then made it for 3:00pm starlite admission to Holiday World (they are an hour behind also!). I easily rode all HW's coasters that evening and then spent the next day in the famous Water Park. Lightning Run and Storm Chaser are not to be missed!
  20. Awesome report. I can't believe someone convinced Harrison Ford to attend. Your insight into the Star Wars lands was incredible. It looks like they are going to be fully immersive lands, transporting guests into a real life fantasy. Exciting times to come!
  21. Wow! Lightning Rod 5 minute wait at 6pm. I know where I would be the rest of the night.
  22. I think we will see a new coaster in Skyriders spot before any RMC conversions.
  23. Imagine Minebuster with hill after hill of extreme RMC air, unlike hill after hill of no air during present time. That coaster would look beautiful converted. The lift hill is also very condusive to increased height.
  24. The best tip when visiting any Disney Park is to have a good game plan and arrive before opening to be at the "Rope Drop". We spend this Christmas at Disney World. While I wouldn't recommend visiting during such a busy time, with a smart plan it was just fine, so visiting any other time will be no problem. We were at MK on the 26. From 7am -9am,( Resort guests get in at 7am) all rides were walk ons with the exception of a 20 min wait for 7 Dwarfs. Even up to 11am the park was mostly under 30 min for various rides, so very manageable. We were done almost all major rides to then watch the parade at 1pm and head back to the hotel as we watched the hoards and hoards of people flow in. Dwarfs grew to a 130 min wait according to the Disney app that afternoon. We came back in the evening to use our 3 Fast passes on Dwarfs, Big Thunder and Space Mountain and watch fireworks. Christmas, the most busiest time of the year, was a blast with some brains.
