  1. Harsh. I think you are getting a little personal on that one. Maintenance is as good as their resources, so think about that before calling them out like that. Do you think Darien Lake is content with having one train for all of their coasters? Furthermore, have any of us worked on one of their coaster trains before Herschend took over to see what kind of condition they really are in? It would be absurd to think Darien Lake wants to operate like this. Chances are they are rehabbing these trains extensively in order to bring them up to standards. Herschend seems to know how to operate parks given their successes with Dollywood and Silver Dollar City, so give them a little bit of time to clean house. Darien Lake has a lot of work to be done which will take some time, but I would take it in its current state any day over the end of the Six Flags era and the entire PARC era. Almost forgot, if you really dislike it, don't spend your time and money supporting it. Yes it's personal. I wouldn't be able to comment any other way. A history of bad incidents has left a bad impression with me. Your post backs up my claims quite well, with your insight on management and operations. I did not say that any workers were to blame, but I agree that the resources make the park amateur. I am happy that a good owner now controls the park and I hope they do turn it around, so I can like the park, as it is a very short drive for me. I have refrained from visiting quite often and I am sure many like me have the same impression that the old management has provided.
  2. The only toll road in Ontario is Highway 407. It is ridiculously expensive and not needed on a Sunday. Get out of the city before the cottage crowd comes home Monday night or that 18 minutes will be an hour.
  3. Well first, cuda is broken and is likely going to be removed. Corn popper is broken, had to have a part custom made that was going to take 8-10 weeks to make. As for the other rides, this season the entire park has been extremely understaffed, and with everyone going back to school there are simply no one to work all the rides. Thus why you may see one ride open for part of the day, then close to open another ride later. Darien Lake's operations and maintenance are so amateur, even in prime season. It's so bad that I ALWAYS call the day before I plan to go, to make sure ROS is running and what rides are not. I hate one train ROS, as it takes forever for a front seat ride. I really dislike this park.
  4. SkyRush is my favorite steel coaster. What a dream that lineup is. Your too lucky, as I have never seen it that empty.
  5. Kings Island Kid area is award winning with quite a few junior coasters. Of course, a back seat airtime ride on Diamondback for yourself is a must! I was disappointed with MA. Average rides with Shivering Timbers being one of the most overrated coasters of all time.
  6. Sounds like you have done good research. It will be packed this long weekend, but your pass will save you. Greater Toronto has a population of 6 million and the park reflects this. Wonderland's coasters can be spread out, so it's important to try to avoid walking back and forth. Thunder Run, Fly and The Bat are all close together, so that's good start. Then hit The Beast as you make your way to Levi. Cross over the water and ride Flight Deck, then Time Warp which hopefully the line won't be that long yet. Ride Behemoth and then work your way around riding the remaining coasters ending at Vortex. The junior coasters are rarely busy, so you can ride them last. Now that your done, you'll probably want to ride the two B&Ms again and the unique Vortex. Levi can be a 20 min wait for Fastlane on a busy day and 10-15 for Behemoth, but they are people eaters and are usually shorter. End the day with Starlight Spectacular, It's a really cool show, projected on the mountain. Have fun!
  7. I remember the first time I rode the famous Voyage in 2009. All the airtime I heard about was true. It blew me away and quickly became one of my top woodies. I decided that El Toro was my favorite woodie only due to the slight roughness on the 2nd half of the Voyage. It's saddens me to hear that it has become much worse since then.
  8. The Walt Disney World overhead sign on the highway into the property is a dangerous area. There is even signs saying don't stop.
  9. Maybe now, people will understand SkyRush. The restraints will tighten as the ride continues, thus sometimes making it a little uncomfortable near the end. But how can you safely deliver such violent (I think fun) airtime with out such an aggressive restaint system? I worry about the industry when this happens. Company's must still deliver airtime. I hate to think IRat would have to suffer any consequences due to the NTAG tragedy. It's such a great ride and I want to see more RMC transformations. There is so many wood coasters out there that could be done.
  10. This is particularly true on a "double down". The fat is released and now riding on top of the bar after the first hill leaving a huge gap just in time for the next hill, leaving no time for the rider to attempt to adjust their harness or body.
  11. One thing to consider is that with most media sources, the reporter is no more informed than the GP. Just because someone works or reports for a newspaper, doesn't make them any more informed about a subject they originally knew nothing about. I've learned many times, that nothing reported can be viewed as 100% true. From what I have heard, this was a larger woman, and if true, I have a good idea what happened as many on here probably do. However we can not comment until we know all the facts.
