Just got back from a nice weekend at SFOG! Operations: Ride operations where all good except for DDD.. the ride ops where working very quickly though, it's just the nature of the headset.. worth riding once to experience it though! Other ride operations where great.. yeah long lines, almost two hour waits on some rides BUT it was very busy.. everything had all trains running even Mind Bender had both of its trians.. They where not enforcing the loc ker policy which did result in a few slow downs where people didn't want to leave their purse on ride platforms but hey, I guess Six Flags can't win when it comes to this.. people complain about the loc kers but then don't want to leave their purse with ride Ops? Food Operations: This is where six flags needs to improve greatly.. why have 4 windows on a food stand and one person working it by themselves? 20 minute waits? Why make your operators call a supervisor to come over and VOID something? Yeah I waited 10 minutes for a supervisor to come void a pretzels for the customer in front of me.. Long lines on rides you can't help if running all trains but this you can and it is something that should really be addressed Overall very fun weekend! I wish the decided to open Hurricane Harbor.. They had lifeguards guarding empty slides lol.. I know they have to have so many hours of training (I used to do this for Splash Country and do their training of some of their guards) but we never really made them guard empty slides to get this training lol Looks like six flags is doing very well this season, even Sunday right at opening was very packed and resulted in long lines.. Oh and I love seeing the costume characters out and about more like they are this year! I saw more characters walking than I ever have at parks like Disney. That's great to see! I used to go to White Water but haven't been in years.. problem is, I am from Knoxville, so I plan maybe 2 - 3 weekend trips a year to six flags and end up spending the majority of that time at six flags so I just never visit whitewater anymore. the guards are now gone but looks like maybe they had a small private event there today.. It's supposed to be a 40 MPH launch so of the magnets are not launching as they should 80 is very possible. It could very well be hitting the crest around or right below 40 This physics dispute came up months ago right when Dollywood announced the launch was 40mph.. I'm not into physics BUT a lot of people that where said the ride had to be faster than 73 if the launch was 40 unless they trimmed it out at the top. This could also be whats starting the rumor.. they might be trimming at the top to make it 73.. I'll gladly be carrying my GPS first few rides to see if it can help calculate the speed we travel. I'm curious Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
The VR would probably be a good way to promote Blue Hawk and get people on it to show them it's much smoother (if it ends up being smooth) Anyways getting excited about the weekend.. weather keeps looking better and better.. Sat partly sunny with a slight chance of storms and mostly sunny on Sunday.. hopefully the slight chance of storms keeps the crowds down a little on Saturday.. I wish they had hurricane harbor open this weekend though all the water parks around here are open already lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I think another issue that upsets some, and I agree with this issue to a point, it's fairly clear now that the issue was much more than a simple issue.. so why did they wait so long to say it wasn't going to open? Maybe they didn't know how bad the issue was going to be at the time? Idk, none of the issues bother me as I am only 35 mins or so away ha-ha.. I visit about three times a month Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Oh for f**k's sake. If you go to the website there's a HUGE orange bar across the top of EVERY SINGLE PAGE ON THE ENTIRE WEBSITE that says " Lightning Rod will not be open to the general public at this time due to extended ride commissioning. Learn More" and then when you click on "Learn More" while you're b**ching about how they're obligated to make a statement you'll see the statement that they made and it says... "Lightning Rod will not be open to the general public at this time due to extended ride commissioning. Lightning Rod is an innovative ride featuring new technology never before used on a wooden coaster. The ride manufacturer asked for additional time to commission the ride. Keep watching Dollywood.com for future updates." Oooh it's a conspiracy. They're "remaining quiet" except for on every single page of the website. What do you want them to do exactly? Mail you a puppy and hand-written letter that says "Dear entitled enthusiast. Please have mercy on us and try to forgive us for the fact that you assumed an innovative new coaster that's completely unique would absolutely, 100% be open on time and booked a trip for opening day. I completely understand how one ride being closed would be enough to make you cancel your trip to one of the best parks in America even though a year ago when this ride wasn't here you'd have absolutely loved all of our other offerings which we still have. Please send all bills for therapy and tissues to Dolly directly and we'll be sure to reimburse you. We're really sorry we tried to trick you by not making a statement (except for all over social media and on every singe page of the website). Next time we'll send you smoke signals and hire a sky writer. I believe the biggest issue for a lot of people is that not all Hotels give full refunds.. some want you to reschedule.. but for when? Then you have to reschedule time off at work.. but for when?? Dollywood says "soon" and has for almost 2 months now.. so when should these customers reschedule? One would think it will be open in June but who knows.. might not be.. I know, Dollywood wants people here now. Plus they don't want to give a date and miss it again.. it's all a catch 22.. give a date and miss it, people will be pissed.. give a date late June and possibly hurt business now.. I feel bad for people who have planned and had to replan trips but I don't see a "win" for Dollywood either way you look at it personally.. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
I personally like Ninja and anything that makes it more comfortable is a great thing IMO hopefully it works out and pays off for them.. Yeah a lot of GP might not realize the changes being made but word of mouth helps a lot.. when people say "wow that's much better" others will want to try it out.. I'm excited for it Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Well the thing is, they are making an investment into a bad coaster because people don't ride it (it hardly ever has a line), if they don't get it right and make for a better ride they are just flushing that money down the toilet.. yeah it might not works but I'm sure the investment is in hopes of a better ride.. if done correctly I'm sure it can happen..Money is Money! Unless this is just a band aid for a few seasons but I doubt it Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Daredevil Dive operations are awful now with the VR, I always thought they were decent before considering the already low capacity. I haven't been since April, but apparently accoroding to what I've heard Mindbender is back to two trains, so that should help it's capacity. As for the other rides their operations were about standard to what SFOG is used to, Scorcher is still painfully slow, but honestly I think that's more of a GP issue, you'd think after 17 years they would comprehend the fact that you have to actually stand on a stand up coaster, but we all know how that goes. Yeah but of you wait until later in the day Scorcher is usually a walk on or very short wait.. even on busy days lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I'd say that's more the issue.. It's safe at 90 but Dollywood doesn't want to replace the parts as often as they would at 90 lol I say run the bad boy at 90 if it's safe!! Lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

If RMC turned it over to Dollywood, almost sounds as if they have given up lol.. One of those it is what it is things ha-ha some launches at 90 some at the correct speed.. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

I agree, lines where very long but Dollywood was handling them as best they could.. And the BBQ was great!! Got the 3 meat Sampler and it was great!! Even went back and got another pulled pork plate to sample other sauces I wish I tried the Ribs but couldn't eat anymore lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
I always wait and buy the flash pass at the park.. Sometimes you need one sometimes you don't.. I wait to see what the crowds are.. If I buy online and it's not a busy day I would hate myself for wasting the money lol.. I don't mind spending an extra $5 on it at the park Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Sure is..45 minute wait for it to but worth it!! It was a very busy day but still fun.. So busy they where using both sides of the tram station and had people parked at Splash Country.. One complaint that I wish Dollywood would address as it is a safety issue on days like today.. I wish they would do a better job covering up the old "yellow" parking lines.. I got "trapped" in lot "F" because people where parking in them blocking the roads.. Did they think they where current spots? I believe so haha Even though the park was very crowded, lines where horrible, it was still fun.. They had brought staff over from Splash Country to help out.. All restaurants where fully staffed.. Took 30 minutes to get a BBQ sampler plate but not complaining because they where working as quickly as they could and Dollywood did have all hands on deck!! They did stay open an hour late to help some people get on rides.. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Most schools will start going back that week or the week after.. The year round schools start back earlier I believe in July sometime. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Like after summer break? A lot of schools in the area are going to year round school so summer break is much shorter for those schools.. schools not on year round school will be mid Aug Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
