  1. The rafts have been getting stuck on thunder river a lot this year.. few weeks ago maintenance was just pushing them onto the belt lol. They where getting stuck in both sides And the metal object wasn't a bolt from the car.. probably a coin in someone elses pocket.. Goliath will suck things right out of pockets.. I have seen phones fly out Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  2. Remember, the ride has been having several different issues.. motor burned up, the recall, passable launch issues.. they might have fixed the recall issue and had the ride ready for today and then something else failed.. we have no idea when Pete told the magazine it was repaired.. it might have been last night or something.. This is assuming they actually spoke with Pete Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  3. Rumor has it, they where replacing the parts yesterday so it could open today.. we will see, it might be a delayed opebing Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  4. Tapatalk adds this automatically unless you turn it off.. most of us are probably just to lazy to turn it off Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  5. Excellent information. The sensors/computer rumours seem to be more likely then. I wonder what the sensors are picking up though. Could this all be related to the latest recall? I know we should all be patient and ride it when ready, but I find the subject interesting, oh and I got to ride it! HA!! Thanks, I have only been there twice now that it has been running but both times it was like this when it went down.. they continued to launch trains so I wouldn't think this would allow them to cool off.. I know the sensor issue is still only a rumor but they could be the issue.. I bet the recall is for the same part that is recalled on wildfire.. for wildfire they said it is a cylinder on the restraints and each restraint has two of them.. one is a backup.. this was what the park said on their Facebook about wildfire Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  6. Those who say it's overheating, I feel that's not the issue and here's why..last Saturday I was in line, it closed.. when it closed they continued and continued to launch trains, and they launched more frequently... this wouldn't allow it to cool down.. after a few hours, it opened back up Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  7. It's been two trains from what I can tell this week.. not sure about down time.. I have a friend who works there and he checked and said today it is two trains when he walked by Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  8. That's obviously photoshopped. I don't think so. It looks legit to me. Literal [emoji38] By the way, the one thing (besides the early start on land prep) that makes me think a large coaster addition is actually possible, is that Carowinds just added a dynamic, marquee coaster in Fury. Now, if you're from the area, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that be SFOG's biggest competition on the market? Six Flags nay be feeling the heat to respond, and maybe a B&M Wing Coaster or RMC Goliath type coaster is what they feel would snag some of the attention back. Just a thought... Dollywood is also 4 hours from the park, and many people from Atlanta go to Dollywood as well, and they have opened 3 new coasters, including a record breaking RMC, in the span that SFOG opened DDD Yup so don't rule out Dollywood... They are also just as big competition to six flags.. plus Dollywood is getting close to having the same amount of coasters as well.. Six Flags should be worried about these other parks if they are trying to compete but also remember the original concept of six flags wasn't to compete with other parks but to give local areas a local park to go to.. Times are changing though so they must compete in my opinion Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  9. They opened it and it's dark! Just got off.. Amazing ride.. in the dark it feels like it's going to fly off the track as it picks up speed! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  10. It closed they said don't think it'll open back up tonight..was in line for about an hour Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  11. I think that's just lame. I was under the impression that it's required for roller coaster operators to push on all the restraints to make sure they're down. Ever been to Disney? They don't touch the restraints or seatbelts.. they have you do it yourself as they watch.. they aren't allowed to touch Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for sharing.. looks like a much better ride now! Still looks jerky here and there but nothing like it was! No neck banging against the old restraints! Looking forward to riding it personally Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  13. Two weekends ago they where having a lot of issues with Thunder River.. The rafts where jamming up and not pulling into the station.. it was like this for several hours, wonder if that was happening again Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  14. My Mug says March 2016 not Spring Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  15. This will be a huge crush for Dollywood if they don't get it open this weekend.. AAA is saying this is going to be the biggest travel weekend in history! Memorial Day falling a week later than usual, gas prices as low as they are, and other things are making lots of people travel.. if they don't get it open i can see several people changing their plans even though they shouldn't lol.. lots of locals might not make it up because they know the coaster isn't open, and whatnot.. This will end up hurting Dollywood a little i know it will Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  16. From someone who rides it about 15 times a year I feel it is getting rougher and rougher but several people disagree.. a lot agree lol.. so hard to say Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  17. I get the feeling they are trying to compete with a top-tier thrill park yes.. while Dollywood overall is a much better well rounded park than others, the majority of the GP go for thrill rides.. I don't believe they are trying to become a top tier thrill destination but I feel the are trying to become something in-between parks like Cedar Point and Disney.. the best of both worlds, kind of like Universal Parks.. That's just my take on it Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  18. Just saw this post exactly! They didn't stop the train on wild eagle when they saw mine attached to my arm but they did tell me on the loud speaker to put it up mid ride and then told me I was breaking Kodak copyright laws blah blah blah lol.. I wasn't even filming, just had it attached with a wrist mount.. had lens cap on and everything.. oh well Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  19. I think Dollywood would stop a coaster in action if they caught a GoPro on one of their rides.. Six Flags encourages them (at least GA) where as Dollywood yells over loudspeakers "You in seat 4 row 6 put the GoPro up or else" So I don't expect a POV anytime soon until Dollywood does an official one [emoji14] ha-ha Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  20. SFOG has some rides that I really don't care that they assign seats like DDD but when they tell me where to sit on Superman, Goliath, and Batman it gets under my skin. This is the primary reason I don't wait for Superman or Batman anymore. I'll only ride if its raining/empty because they only let me choose my row when its a walk on. Carowinds is the WORST About this. I can't begin to tell you how many time I've walked on on Fury and they assign rows with a half empty train. Hershey park does this with Skyrush too. This past weekend they werent assigning seats so that's good.. Hopefully Dollywood doesn't start and honestly, I doubt they will. But you never know, some of their lines are getting long on busy days Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  21. SFOG doesn't assign seats as often as they used to (unless you flash pass) and that made me happy. I hated when they told me where to sit.. Disney always assign seats.. it just helps speed the lines up I guess. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  22. Very cool! I'm going to the park in a few hours for the very first time and will be there tomorrow and Wednesday. Did someone approach you by the ride and give you that Lightning Rod pass? So this was asked several pages back but probably lost due to all the hash tags.. like this user asked, are they asking guest to ride? Is it open with a long line? Do you request to ride? For those that rode it, how did you get on it. I'm sure several of us would like to know Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk So they have a representive around to the right side of the main entrance. (The time saver line I believe)They had an A frame sign talking about the tech rehearsals, and the rep had a stack of cards, prob 1 trains worth, and people were in a unofficial line, so he distributed them. They opened the chain, we got the cards taken from us in the station, and got one lap. Sweet now I know what to look for if I can make it there one evening this week Of course I won't be upset if it isn't running when I am there.. I love just visiting for dinner anyways.. Thanks for the tip! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

  24. Hopefully it'll soft open sometime this week and if so I'll make an evening trip there Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  25. My issue with the #itllneveropen is the fact that I have almost stopped coming to the Dollywood thread.. Everytime I log in I see 4 or 5 pages of hashtags that I personally don't find funny.. The real info and answers that people come here seeking are hidden between all this.. But hey for those having fun with it (which is only a handful of people, same people keep posting them over and over) have fun! Looks like it will only be a few more days hopefully and will be open soon! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
