Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

There will have to be concrete, as they will have to put a drain in the bottom. Otherwise the water that accumulates there, will have no place to go. -

Take a look at B&MBoy1982's pic to see how the terrain really drops though. The Zero-G roll would be off to the right and the "pretzel" element will be down to the left. That thing is going to be screaming down that hill, and that should be where it hits top speed, should give tons of force to the "pretzel." The batwing as Kings Island is calling it will be located between where the crane is, and Adventure Express to the right of this photo. Only thing missing on this tour was a sled! -

I noticed that during our visit in 2008. They started with 4 persons, then 6 and so on. I have been there on days when they launch 2 at a time! Then after a few launches, you would see 2 more people, etc. -

I should have said, "Early plans or concepts for Montu had it inside a pyramid." Something similar to FOF or Rocking Roller Coaster. -
Weird Coaster Facts
B&MBoy1982 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Voyage has 5 tunnels, and goes through 3 of them twice. Montu was originally not going to be inverted, and was supposed to be housed inside a pyramid. (So glad they went with inverted.) Busch Gardens calls the below ground elements "pits". Busch Garden's Tidal Wave travels the former Jungle Cruise channel. Sand Serpent was relocated from Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Python was Florida's first looping roller coaster. BGT and immediate surroundings are situated on an old airport landing strip. (Google map it) Part of the runway is still there. The lot across the street from Adventure Island to the north, where they stage new attraction parts. This photo is facing southwest. So BGT is the big square area in the top of the photo just to the left of the runway. This photo is the north side of BGT with AI to the right, and the area just north of the parks. Current Google images show 3 places of visible runway, and one place of recycled repaved runway. The recycled part is now a parking lot to a business. Looking at Google maps, if you start at the intersection of Bougainvillea and McKinley and go north, look to the left. There is a triangle shaped parking lot. Next to a field. Also, between Kumba and Bougainvillea is part of the runway. -

I was invited as a guest to attend ACE Holiday Party at KI on Saturday. Here are the photos I got of Banshee. More stuff up on that hill. A few of us were conspiring to bring a sled to the next winter tour! Top Deck Bat Flight Gun gondolas before going in for rehab and repaint. Translation, please? Kite Eating Tree (Children's drop tower) Picnic Grove ON the return track from Soak City to Rivertown, looking toward Soak City. Track toward Soak City is over there somewhere. We are standing in the middle of the track. -

SkyRide building was bought as you see it. No box. Seen it at a train store, and knew it was perfect! The train station, games, wooden Coca-Cola stand, coasters, carousel, and Thunder Bolt are all from kits. The Burger Bar was already built ready to go. The Coca-Cola stand is my favorite building of the entire project so far. So much detail! It is laser cut balsa wood, and smells incredible where it was cut with the laser! -

Electricity has been turned on for the SkyRide station. Lighting was added, and electricity turned on at the train station. -

Cincinnati Greyhound station! Downright rude! Nairobi Train Station at BGT can get extremely hot in the summer time. -
Why do you love TPR?

This is the only place where i can openly express my love for B&M Donkeys! -
It amazes me the people who are saying that they are going to dislike a page because said page likes Sea World. (Happened on my business page.) Then you go look through said person's photos, and they have cats, dogs, birds, fish, etc. Hypocrites! I noticed TPR turned off the commenting option on Facebook, and I had more to say to those hypocrites...LOL

I've had very little head banging with Vortex, its an amazing coaster in my opinion. I would expect Flight Deck (KI) to be similar. KI's version is smoother than Vortex at Wonderland. There is no head banging on The Bat at Kings Island. -
What do YOU take with you to a park?
B&MBoy1982 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I use the pocket rule. Wallet and phone go in Velcro or button pockets, and keys get clipped on a belt loop. Sometimes I don't even take my wallet or phone. At Kings Island, if I think I may want to eat at the park I will take my wallet in. If I don't plan to spend money, I only take my pass in with me. Parks where I drive further away, I will leave my phone locked in the glove box, and take my wallet in. I never carry cash to a park, but just in case, my wallet also has zippers for stowing loose change. (Parks need to just round up the price to the next dollar to eliminate the need to give back change.) -
What are amusement park necessities?

Tilt a Whirl. Unlike Coney in Cincinnati that is all tilt and no whirl, but rather one like at Cedar Point where it is easy to get insane spins! -
