  1. Rollercoaster PS...100th post...wee!
  2. Hahaha...I still do that. When I go to PCW, I'll call Skyrider "the standup". I've always been doing it, and everyone I know has always been doing it. In fact, I don't think anyone I know at any time has ever called it by its proper name.
  3. I suppose my favourite type would be Intamin freefall rides, or failing that S&S Space Shot rides. However, my all time favourite flat ride is the Top Spin at PCW, Cliffhanger. I've never been so wet coming off of a ride my entire life. The fountains were great on hot days.
  4. I know I'm definitely going to PCW (or is it CFCW now?) sometime this summer. Probably more than once. Its just a matter of when and finding someone with a car to drive me there. Ideally, I'd like to make a trip to either Cedar Point simply because some of my friends haven't been there and want to, or to La Ronde to ride their Goliath. But, those two trips are not likely to happen
  5. Its in storage there. This does not necessarily mean that the ride is going to be installed at SFDL. It could just be holding it until a buyer comes along or until Six Flags decides to scrap it.
  6. The ride was dismantled and sold for scrap. Its probably been melted down and used in something else. Its a shame though, as soon as I started getting interested in roller coasters, they removed Drachen Fire.
  7. To be perfectly honest, I like lentil soup a lot more than radioactive material. But that just might be me.
  8. If at all. A huge ride like that won't make a huge difference in attendance for PCW. People are still going to go in droves regardless of a new coaster or not.
  9. That ride would be beyond awesome. Now, I'm really hoping for something like that in the form of an Intamin multi-looper.
  10. I've never had a bad time at PCW. It is not a POS park, despite their lack of B&M and Intamin rides (Drop Zone doesn't count). As for those attendance figures, I don't know the exact numbers, but PCW actually outdrew Cedar Point last year and I think it was one of the most highly attended parks in the world. The park is a good one, and it has tons of potential. Plus, Vortex rocks my world.
  11. Mighty Canadian Minebuster at PCW. Last season when I rode it, my back felt like it had been hit by a sledgehammer. Its sad though, I remember it being a fun ride, not needlessly rough.
  12. I was just thinking that. With CF owning Canada's Wonderland now, they may actually get a decent new ride!
  13. Well, the fact that RCDB is showing Cedar Point as having a coaster under construction and opening in 2007 really says new coaster at CP. RCDB doesn't jump the gun at wild speculation until things are almost a certainty.
  14. The rides that have launches that I've been on are: The Incredible Hulk Top Thrill Dragster Wicked Twister Rock and Roller Coaster Italian Job: Stunt Track Revenge of the Mummy Out of those 6 coasters, I would say I enjoyed the launch on Hulk the best. It wasn't too forceful, but it was really fun and was the start to a great coaster.
  15. I always check the "roller coasters, theme parks, and donkeys" forums before anything else. Usually, there's a construction update from somewhere or a PTR from somewhere. I always check those. I have OCD when it comes to something like that. Then, I check the games forum to see if the "Paramount Xtreme" park has an update. That RCT2 game looks amazing. Then, I'll either head back to the roller coaster forum or see what's going on at "random, random, random". Regardless, this site keeps me more than entertained while being bored at work.
  16. Without a doubt, it was Top Thrill Dragster. I have never experienced such a moment of terror as sitting, just waiting to be launched. I've been on drop rides, skycoasters and the like, and nothing will ever come close to what I experienced on TTD.
  17. On Sunday night, a few friends and I went down to one of the local clubs in Waterloo to see Matt Mays and El Torpedo. For those of you who haven't heard of them, they're an extremely awesome rock band from Nova Scotia. I had seen them once before, and I definitely had to see them again. Just like their show back in October that I missed, they were touring with The Novaks, an indie band out of Newfoundland. Canada's east coast has an awesome music scene. But enough of my rambling, on to the concert! The Novaks come out and start to get the small, but overly enthusiastic crowd excited. It was the first time I had seen The Novaks and I was quite impressed. Their sound is a nice mix of rock, blues and a bit of country. It happened to be the birthday of their lead guitarist/singer, so a handy sign was made by one of my friends, wishing him a happy birthday. He appreciated it and put it on his guitar. After about an hour long set, the band we had all come to see came on. After a brief intermission which allowed us to go to the bar and walk around for a bit, Matt Mays and El Torpedo came on stage. They opened up their set with the awesome song "Building a Boat" that got the crowd (which by this time was larger) nice and excited. They played some of their older songs that were more popular like their recent hit "Cocaine Cowgirl" and my personal favourite "What Are We Gonna Do Come the Month of September?". They also debuted three brand new songs for the very first time at the concert! The songs were absolutely fantastic and I can't wait for their next album to come out. They finished off their set after about an hour and a half and left the stage. Then, after a rowdy encore call from those in attendance, Matt Mays came out by himself for an encore. He did a solo version of "Building a Boat" using an acoustic guitar. It wasn't as good as it was with the entire band behind him, but it was good nonetheless. After he finished playing the song, the rest of the band and The Novaks came on stage and played two last songs for the crowd. The first, was one of my all time favourite songs, "On the Hood" that rocks tremendously. Their second song was one I hadn't heard before called "Move Your Mind". They left the stage, the house lights turned on and people started to file out. But, this is where the fun really begins. So, a few of my friends and I are standing around, having a few drinks after the show as the bar is still open, and the band comes out and starts to have drinks with us! Apparently, my one friend has been to many of their concerts and is now friends with the band. We start talking and laughing with them, and they invite us backstage. Clearly, we're not going to say no, so we head backstage and hang out with both Matt Mays and El Torpedo and The Novaks. The two bands want to have a bit of a party, but things were dying down inside the club, so they decide to head back to their tour bus and party there. And wouldn't you know it, they invited us back to their tour bus! We get in, they say "beers in the back, help yourself" and we party with them until about 3:30AM when everyone either crashes in the bus, or leaves. Needless to say, its one of those experiences I will never forget. I got a taste of the rock star life that night...lol. Anyways, here are a couple videos I shot using my crappy digital camera and some pictures that are...alright. I didn't get any tour bus or backstage photos because well...that just wouldn't have been cool to do. http://media.putfile.com/Novaks --> The Novaks http://media.putfile.com/Cocaine-Cowgirl --> MM&ET playing "Cocaine Cowgirl" The Novaks, getting the crowd excited Happy Birthday, Mick! (He's not really 17) Hurray for Matt Mays and El Torpedo! Rocking out. Seriously though, that pole ruined so many pictures. One last picture of Matt Mays
  18. Yeah, they were posted on gorillamask.net today. As soon as I saw it, I thought "well, the forums are gonna be messed up tonight".
  19. Right now, I don't think Magic Mountain is on Six Flags' priority list for a new coaster. They just pumped in tons of cash for Tatsu, and another large investment would be unfeasable. I wouldn't expect any new coaster at Magic Mountain for a while.
  20. Its being unloaded at the Breakers Express hotel, which is right at the main entrance to Cedar Point Dr. Its actually fairly far from the main entrance to the park. Now, I'm more confused than ever. http://resorts.cedarpoint.com/_upload/pdfs//DrivingMap03.pdf
  21. Again, it all depends. On a B&M or Intamin hyper or a wooden coaster with nice airtime, its hands up all the way. However, if its got OTSRs or is rough, then I'll be holding on.
  22. Alright, so let me see if I've got this straight. We've gone from it being dueling B&M flyers, to a ball coaster, to a wing walker, to an aqua trax, and now back to square one. This guessing game is getting intense. I wonder how many people are actually right about what they're guessing. It will be interesting to see when CP makes an announcement about 2007.
  23. It looks nice, but its common knowledge that the Super Mario franchise reached perfection in 1990 with Super Mario Bros. 3. I'm fairly confident saying that no Mario game will ever come close to being as good as Super Mario Bros. 3.
