  1. They are transfer tracks, they allow Six Flags parks to do one train operation. I think the turn has more to do with layout than gaining momentum. Those super compact Schwarzkopf coasters takes this to the extreme. Most wooden coasters don't use friction wheels in the station, the slope will let the train move by gravity. There's always a small dip before the lift to let the chain catch the middle of the train. Colossos might be the only exception because it uses friction wheels in the station, doesn't have a dip before the lift and uses chain lift.
  2. Thanks for the footages, will download it later. I love Club TPR!
  3. Who designed this? Seriously who designed this?
  4. I don't think they will give up Python until the zombie apocalypse. If they want a new coaster, there's always space.
  5. Any news on this project lately? Has the layout been announced yet?
  6. Here are a few of my guesses: 1. Forces and shape of the element: If a park is putting a 250ft tall gigantic loop, the high positive G will be there for quite some time and long hang time could also cause discomfort. Sure there are solutions that can make the force reasonable but the shape of that element would be hideous. 2. Ridership: Most GP think inversions make a coaster scarier. The height of a Giga coaster already scares a lot of people away, there won't be many people left if there are inversions. 3. Maybe the parks don't need more inversions. CP, Nagashima Spaland, KD, CW and Carowinds all have coasters with inversions and some of them have too much of them. They are buying coasters that focus on airtime and speed so there probably weren't any need of inversions. 4. Manufacturers: Especially for Morgan, they haven't done any inverting coaster before, going higher than 300ft and designing a gigantic earthquake-safe structure is already too much for them IMO. As for B&M, they aren't exactly famous for stepping out of their comfort zone.
  7. Watched Interview just now, not bad! It's a pretty funny movie even though parts of it is gross. But I was expecting them to make NK look crazier than that!
  8. Say goodbye to bacon and butter. That will probably last for two weeks before I start to hate myself.
  9. I know it costs around $37 to run U-Shaped coaster once, since LSM saves more electricity than LIM, I would guess higher than $40. Does anyone know how much it cost to run an Intamin accelerator or an S&S air launch coaster once?
  10. Intamin: Maverick B&M: Superman Krypton Coaster
  11. Because it's not always necessary to run multiple trains. Running a coaster is really expensive, especially if it's a launch coaster. Some of the launch coasters costs over $30 to run once. I would totally understand if a park is doing one train operation when the line is less than 30 minutes.
  12. Just finished season 2 of Friends, I really get why it's one of the most popular shows of all time.
  13. Because they are walking away from Darien Lake Why isn't there a Inferno's incident report yet?
  14. Those small bridges in country side give some crazy airtime.
  15. Ellen riding Incredible Hulk videos are gold mines.
  16. I think they designed the track like this because it's easier to produce. Just cut out three pieces of steel, bend them and weld together. They don't need to bend another steel pipe and design big cross ties. Actually I think they cut out the cross ties from the spare parts of the triangular main spine. This is a brilliant track design if they designed it like that.
  17. Thank you Sven for explaining the architecture history. Efteling looks so beautiful in snow! I'm interested in whether they operate their coasters in snow, Japan seems to be the only country doing so.
  18. This is intriguing, seems like they can't come up with a very original track style so they went for this... Layout is really promising, can't wait to see how awesome the trains look.
  19. Try Parrot Coaster and you'll be insane.
  20. Pretty sure that'd be the case for any coaster From the feedback of Ocean Kingdom, they spent a lot of money on keeping Parrot Coaster smooth, they change wheels very often. Same thing don't happen on Intamin coasters that much. B&M wheels don't even touch anything on storage track while Intamin coasters are on their wheels all the time. I remember Tranan didn't change the wheels for two years! I still think B&M is for the 90s. Back then Arrow coasters' wheels are hitting the track, B&M's bogie, track design etc made their coasters low maintenance, smooth and reliable. But nowadays probably no coat hanger is being produced anymore and every manufacturer is using better engineered trains. B&M fell from the best in the world to "one of the best" showed that they aren't making enough progress.
  21. I don't get it either, B&M coasters are smooth for the 90s even though there are Schwarzkopf coasters that are even smoother. For today's standard, they aren't among the smoothest anymore. Premier, Intamin, Gerstlauer, Mack, S&S etc are pushing their technology and making smoother ride while B&M is still using the same technique on track manufacturing. Their new train designs just aren't as good as the old ones IMO. Plus seems like the majority of B&M coasters would get horrible rattle if the wheels aren't being changed often.
  22. Thank you NL team for this fantastic gift, all the details of the train, track, station etc are incredible!
  23. This is my little Christmas tree thingy. Happy Holidays! Still waiting for my Club TPR ornament, guess I should've bought some red ornaments to match last year's Club TPR ornament.
  24. From the S&S factory tour updates, Eejanaika is getting new trains.
