New S&S Concepts: Twisted Looper
gerstlaueringvar replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Those are very innovative and the family invert system looks beautiful, but also the slow turn/s-track plus the braking, stopping and the huge transfer section that moves the entire train plus LSM etc seems like it is excessive and not efficient enough. -
New S&S Concepts: Twisted Looper

I don't know how I feel about this Twisted Looper concept. From a park's standpoint, yes it is huge and it is a low budget ride, but If the price tag comes close to Premier's SRII I would still buy from Premier. SRII has much smaller train(s) (32 vs 12/18) which means way less electricity consumed (plus this one requires 4 launches and additional boost on every cycle) and usually medium sized parks that need a new big thing doesn't require such high capacity. Plus this is basically a non-inverting loop but SRII is way more dynamic and flexible. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Scenery aside, I think MF is loved by so many people because Millennium Force stays fast af the whole time without any MCBR. Steel Dragon is more forceful than MF but the first two hills are sort of like B&M hypers, you go really fast then slow down and float through the top of a hill. I mean you float through the second hill of MF too but you stay really fast when you float through it so air is constantly rushing past your face. On B&M hypers, while you're floating, the train is relatively slow as you top the airtime hills. -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
gerstlaueringvar replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's very different because it was during the time when people are still figuring out how everything works. Someone took the risk and someone paid for it. Of course, there are far better rides at CP but Magnum is always the one that started everything and the one with the most character. Now can we talk about how Arrow used up stop plates on Magnum even though Moonsalt Scramble, which was taller and had inversions, has been running for 6 years in Japan? -

Splash Mountain. WDW/Tokyo versions are better engineered but DLR has the better soundtrack. -
I agree with 100% what you said about Shanghai. My initial thoughts about the park was excellent and during grand opening day, I put it in my top 3 parks. But that was because about 1/3 of the people in there were Disney fans from Japan and US, lots of CM were from Hong Kong or overseas, they only let about 30,00 people in, almost all the effects were working well etc. Then the second time I went there during winter break, I would say the park is rather chaotic with Mainland Chinese CM not well trained enough to handle a lot of the situations. Hong Kong has been going really strong lately, I have high hope for that park's future!
