Carowinds Discussion Thread
gerstlaueringvar replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At least for CW, Behemoth is orange and Leviathan is blue. For Carowinds, 232 is red but this is orange. Even the color is too close! -

S&S or Intamin
gerstlaueringvar replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The most intense S&S tower I've been on is Magic Spring's. The pop of airtime at the top is really nice but the rest is just an open air elevator. Intamin wins for being out of control. -

Great photos! Was it cold that day? Looks even lower than 65 degrees from the reactions. -
Solution for Line Jumpers
gerstlaueringvar replied to aCoasterStory's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Line jumpers are annoying and I believe there are far much more people who want to stop them than those actually did. But if it means fighting, yelling or worse, letting go is a better choice. There's no worth to give away your and your family, friends, coworkers, classmates, etc's safety just to show you have the balls to fight with some people that probably means nothing to you in your entire life. Don't make the safest places on earth dangerous. Line jumping is the park's responsibility, not ours. We go there to have fun. -
Solution for Line Jumpers
gerstlaueringvar replied to aCoasterStory's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, the best way to deal with it is not to be the line jumper myself. Some people are really aggressive and there might be conflicts if they found you shaming them or even reporting them. Safety is the first priority, I will report as long as I feel like its safe enough for me to do so. -
Best B&M Coaster Type?

^ yeah! I wonder if their 1990s coasters even have the rattle that newer B&M's have when they are brand new. -
Best B&M Coaster Type?
gerstlaueringvar replied to I305's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you think Parrot coaster is rough, you are not ready for Baco! Parrot Coaster's experience varies a lot from train to train. There are three trains with different LED colors: red, green and blue. The train with red lights is GateKeeper rough but the train with green lights is Boomerang in bad shape during the boomerang element rough. Imagine going over the boomerang element on a bad Boomerang with the old Arrow train for two minutes. This is just a suggestion (as I haven't ridden "Parrot Coaster") but perhaps you're finding it a bit rougher than it really is because of the way the restraints glue you to your seat. I'm sure riding baco in the last row with B&M vests would turn your brain to smithereens. I used my thumb to push the vest harness up and reduce body contact as much as possible. It is just horribly rough. Even that perfect first drop doesn't deserve a try if you are riding the green light train. -

I think Wing Coasters are either too rough (Parrot Coaster), too boring (X-Flight) or too rough+boring (Gatekeeper). -

Wing Coasters are not a curse on humanity. Wait till you ride Parrot Coaster. Haven't been on Baco but I assume the back row of Parrot Coaster is worse than Baco's back row. -
Tayto Park Discussion Thread

I kind of think that Gravity Group's designs are becoming more GCIish these days. The layout looks awesome but I was hoping for more big hills like those on Voyage and Fireball. -

Announcing "Skyline Attractions"
gerstlaueringvar replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So Skyline Attractions is more like Ride Centerline or Ride Entertainment Group? Or even a new category? This is a great news! Can't wait to see what's coming up soon! -
Mack did everything on their own for Alpina Blitz, Stengel didn't work with Mack on this project. You mean you know how tproject was carried out more than the park owners themselves? I asked Mack about this project at IAAPA, sorry for the misleading info, I mean Werner Stengel didn't work on the calculation, Mack did it by themselves. The layout is what the park asked for.

I remember feeling MF, TTD as tall as Maverick when going down the big drops. Maybe Maverick's first drop is too good but it is such a weird feeling. -

Transformers Age of Extinction 1. Hong Kong people drive at the right side!!! 2. Very good movie, but I got dizzy after an hour. 3. How can that little gun be that powerful? Oh right, it's used by human. 4. Beijing has quality air, as usual. 5. Maurer Shone products' qualities are good enough to handle a robot fight. 6. They build Chicago up that fast? And destroyed it again?

So it is possible to create an illusion of higher drop if a park puts a photo of the first drop at the station because people might stare at it for a long time? That's really cool! -
You mean participate in berating this young kid who is highly skilled and living his dream? Why would I do that? I say more power to him, good night. I only said that because this thread is about CoasterLab. I support Camiel to chase his dream, as in my previous posts, I'm just saying that Golden Horse is not a good place for his talent. I love his designs and they all look very nice. Just saying that there's a difference between Alpina Blitz-MegaLite similarity and S:UF clone-Eyeloop similarity.

Well even Sandor Kernacs of Intamin said it's all about what the parks want. So if the parks want a clone of a ride that was designed by another manufacturer, why should the manufacturer the park is working with fore go building it and lose out on a multi-million dollar project?? And in the case of Intamin, you could even say they copied Anton Schwarzkopf if you really pay attention to modern intamin coasters there are a lot of similarities there. I don't think any of the modern day manufacturers of steel coasters are THAT original (save a few of Intamin's designs and B&M's inverted), you gotta go back to Arrow and Anton of the 70's for the true originality. He is the president of Intarides, of course he cannot say something negative about other manufacturers. This industry is small that companies have to maintain a fairly good relationship with one another. Just use common sense, if you are an engineer, you put a huge amount of effort to make the best ride of that size you can possibly make, you received a huge success that at least 80% of US coaster enthusiasts dreamed about your product coming to US one day. Shockingly, another successful manufacturer who can clearly design a great layout copied your design just because they want money. How would you feel? Plus, Intamin was representing Schwarzkopf in the overseas market, Intamin work with Schwarzkopf very very closely and Werner Stengel is doing calculations for possibly every Intamin coaster. Old school B&M transitions are snappy jut like the Intamin coasters, most Gerstlauer coaster, etc. Did Intamin and Gerstlauer knock-off B&M? Absolutely not. Did Vekoma knock-off Arrow's designs? Absolutely not. Did Mack copy Intamin's Mega-Lite? Definitely. Did Chance copy Mega-Lite? No. Now please go back to CoasterLab.
