  1. What intrigues me the most about that photo is that apparently there are four very misguided people that get sad while watching a Lost Gravity POV.
  2. Guys, it's because I'm visiting the park for the first time on Wednesday. Everyone knows I'm not allowed to have nice things.
  3. Man, I really need to get back to this park. My only visit came in 2014 when I suddenly had to go to SC for work. Back then Fury was nothing more than dirt piles, rumors, and Roman numeral-themed teaser posters. Even then I only had three hours to experience the whole place.
  4. No, but your comments real of "bitching for the sake of bitching". Seriously, ice? Ever hear of "don't sweat the small stuff"?
  5. I've never really done a trip report before, but I figured the events that transpired for me last Monday are unique enough for me to give this a shot. So Sunday ended up being a bit of a late night for me. I'm typically a night owl anyway, but we met with family the night before and I ended up not getting home until close to 2:00AM. I groggily set my alarm for work the next morning and went to sleep. Unfortunately, I neglected to turn the volume up on my alarm (I use my iPhone) and I managed to sleep right through it, waking up close to 10:00AM. I briefly thought about logging on and working from home (three of my four investigators were off that day anyway), but I had internet connection issues (#&^@*$!!), so I bit the bullet, got dressed, and started heading into work. Now, I commute from Cherry Hill, NJ, to Newark, DE, which is just under an hour each way. A couple miles from the Delaware Memorial Bridge on I-295, I see black smoke on the horizon. Turns out it's a car fire on the highway that must've just started, because as we were slowly approaching, about 1000 feet out, emergency services were just beginning to arrive. However, they ended up closing the highway, and I was stuck motionless for nearly an hour and a half. By the time they reopened the roadway, it was after 12:30PM, and I was still almost thirty minutes from the office. I ended up just bailing, turned around at the next exit, drove back home and took a personal day. Determined to try and salvage the day, I decided to make an impromptu trip up to the park. I showered, changed, and made the drive up, arriving around 3:30PM. Parking lot was pretty clear and had no wait getting into the park. Crowds were beginning to thin out as a lot of the school groups were starting to leave. I headed over to Joker for a quick ride. Line wasn't long at all, waited about ten minutes and rode green side facing backwards. It definitely feels as though the recalibrated it because I got a full three flips plus a couple almost flips. I love this addition to the park and will probably ride it any time the line isn't too long. After that, I wandered over to El Toro. Line filled the first queue switchback, so I decided to get something to eat over at Macho Nacho with my Dining Pass. As I'm sitting and enjoying my steak burrito and tortilla chips, I figured I should let Rikki know where I am so she knows I'd be home late. Convo went something like this: Me: "Hey honey, I'm at Six Flags. Long story of why I'm not at work, will tell you later." Rikki: "Uhhh... okay. Did you forget we have plans to meet your mom and aunt for dinner tonight?" Me: ".........F**k." So, about an hour into my trip to the park, I'm reminded that I had a prior engagement that evening and it probably wasn't a good idea to have driven all the way up. I had to sadly cut my visit short, (only rode Joker), but hey, an hour of the park is better than no hours, right? Maybe? ...Guys? Now, some photos: Car fires ALWAYS makes work commutes better. Standard "STOPPED DEAD OMFG CAN U BELEEV THIS?!!1!" photo. This is a (very unflattering) photo of me sitting down in the road about an hour into the ordeal. Fun times. Stupid 295, taunting me with an wide-open northbound side. Roam free, red tractor-trailer, roam free! Scene of the crime. All kidding aside, I'm not the one who lost his car to a fire that morning like that guy in the white shirt. Hope things work out, random car fire dude. So let's try to improve on this day, shall we? (Ugh, I really shouldn't try and do selfies...) This was pretty cool. Street performer was juggling balls, tossing them back and forth with Sylvester and Tweety. Of course, they dropped it once I took the photo. Please also ignore the amateur finger in the frame (did I mention this is my first attempt at a trip report?). Hey look, I found a roller coaster! This is where the line ended. Manageable, no? The landscaping, for being relatively new, is starting to fill out. Should look really nice in a few years. Right Six Flags? RIGHT?!?! Clearing over by the old Bandstand. Pay no attention to the yellowing sod in the foreground. Another shot of the "Not Quite Ready for Primetime" Bandstand area. Landscaping all around the park is starting to take full summer form. Here's another SEASON DINING PASS example of SEASON DINING PASS blossoming summer SEASON DINING PASS landscapes in SEASON DINING PASS action. So this is an interesting, not-at-all-racially-insensitive development... Hit a gong, win a prize. In all seriousness, it'll be interesting to see this in action once it's more than just a random sign on an awning. Fresh paint! Looks good! For every "Nitro queue line" we may have, there really are some nicely-landscaped places in the park. Here's a standard. One less bouncing basketball to annoy other park guests. Life is full of silver linings. Alright, so I guess the Log Flume really IS soaking people this year. More landscaping. I'm now just realizing how many landscaping shots I took. Note to self: fewer landscaping photos next time. I've always liked this section of the park. Doesn't hurt to have one of the best coasters right behind me, either. Sitting, waiting patiently for my burrito. Holy heck, that's a huge f**king burrito. Here's where Rikki reminded me of my prior plans. Don't have a photo (or any more for that matter), but it went something like this:
  6. The La Quinta is where I stayed when I visited the park back in 2013. Nice rooms and great location.
  7. The initial development of the ride concept itself may have cost that much, but each replication of the ride would only cost a fraction of the amount. It still makes sense for Six Flags' current model of ride additions.
  8. Just curious - how much was your Uber / Lyft ride to and from the park?
  9. For the record, SFGAdv ADDED bumper cars in 2012.
  10. But if they don't do that, then how will people know to give them all the blowjobs?
  11. cough... cough... I'm so pumped that I'm finally fixing this travesty next week! First Knoebels trip on 6/22 and 6/23. If I die of a pierogi overdose, tell the world I went out on top.
  12. Responded a while back, but didn't give a list. Figured I'd run a quick search on RCDB and came up with this: 1. Kingda Ka 2. Top Thrill Dragster 3. Millennium Force 4. Intimidator 305 5. Intimidator 6. Diamondback 6a. Nitro (same height)
  13. Maybe it's because I'm a very happy person? Somewhere in the world, at this very moment, a kitten is being euthanized. There, fixed that problem!
  14. Approximately between walk-ons and two-hour waits.
  15. Based on a couple quick filters through RCDB: - Beast - Millennium Force - Voyage - Steel Force - Mean Streak - Superman @ SFNE
  16. Volcano's launch is awesome, but I've always felt the ride ends prematurely. Feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Road trip?
  17. Interesting to look back at these comments. I've since taken a job in Delaware, so weekday visits after work are a thing of the past. 12-15 visits a year is pushing it now, I'm definitely under ten. Still a lot comparatively.
  18. There's no need to drive that far south. Best thing to do is just check Google Maps before you leave the hotel for a breakdown of the traffic on 537 outside of the park. Odds are it won't be anything like today, but if it is, you could always take exit 11 on 195 and take 526 east to the back entrance to the park (537 from the other direction). When visiting my mother during park season (who lives right by the 571/537 intersection, I always take exit 11 instead of 16 to avoid the park traffic. Highlighted path.
  19. Cool video. +1 for cheesy corny stock rock music. A-G-D-A FTW.
  20. On our way home from Dollywood, Rikki and I stopped at the Shenandoah caves in Virginia for a tour of the caverns. By the end of the tour, my hatred for humanity had been reaffirmed as we experienced pretty much everything Robb talked about earlier: - People running ahead or staying far behind of the tour group (a bigger problem in the caverns because the tour guide has to turn lights on and off in the various sections to minimize the harm they do to the formations). - Parents and grandparents not controlling their unruly kids. - Everyone touching the rocks when they were CLEARLY told not to do so. - People hold their own (very loud) conversations while the tour guide is trying to give information. - MOTHERFEFFING SELFIE STICKS. - Barely half of the group tipped. Rikki had a good time and we got some great pictures out of the experience, but I had to seriously stifle my desire to go Judge Dredd on people.
  21. 2014: Rode Great Chase (kiddie coaster) at SFNE. In the middle of the day. With a bunch of kids. With staring parents. Never, ever again.
