  1. Anything at La Ronde.
  2. A few of my rules: - Never ask to butt in front of someone in line. It's rude and inconsiderate. Only do so if someone offers. - Ride the major coasters twice. You just might appreciate it the more you ride it. - Get to the park at opening. The single best way to beat the lines is to beat the people that occupy them. - Ride when people eat and eat when people ride. - If a ride breaks down, leave the line immediately. - Park your car in the middle of nowhere. You will get out a lot sooner.
  3. Mine in no particular order: - Xcelerators tophat (back row) - El Toros first - Mavericks first - Behemoths first - X2s skydive
  4. Mindbender at Galaxyland (Edmonton) is located inside a mall. Pretty weird to me.
  5. Anybody know what's happening with X2? I read it hasn't been running?
  6. Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland confuses me sometimes. It's a big, fast B&M with lots of airtime, only to hit a block brake three quarters of the way into the ride, then do some low-speed helixes before finishing. Really kills the momentum to an otherwise awesome hyper.
  7. I would re-build Son of Beast as an Intamin pre-fab (like El Toro). No more complaints of roughness, lawsuits, or other BS.
  8. I was considering a trip to SFMM and Knott's sometime in February. Are they at all busy during that time of the year? Are all rides operating?
  9. In the interest of fairness, I'm not touching CP or SFMM: - Busch Gardens VA (steel & landscaping) plus Holiday World (wood & water park) - SF Great Adventure plus Bizarro and Goliath (SFNE) - Canada's Wonderland drops all its old steel coasters (except Vortex), and replaces with Dorney Park's mid-roster. - King's Island plus I-305, Volcano, and Dominator (KD) - Kennywood plus Ride of Steel and Viper (Darien)
  10. I dreamt I was riding what was meant to be GateKeeper, but the harnesses didn't lock, and had to grab on for dear life... yet I somehow didn't get thrown off... and the first drop was made of potato chips..????
  11. What week does Lake Compounce typically open in the spring?
  12. Most pleasant surprise for me was Verbolten. I wasn't even planning on riding it when I went to Busch Gardens, it was the last ride of the day, but ended up blowing me away, especially with the track drop! Unpleasant surprise was Leviathan. B&M Giga sounded amazing to the ears, and although it was still a good ride, it was disappointing for what it was supposed to be. Not in the same class as MF or I305. It was just under-designed... two airtime hills... that's it?
  13. How do you guys know these ???
  14. Tryin' something different....
  15. In my opinion, when it comes to 'intense' vs. 'aggressive': Intense = enjoyable Aggressive = intense plus pain or blacking out I think I305 and Millenium Force are aggressive because they are the only two rides that have ever made me black out, and any old Vekoma inverteds are aggressive because they are the only coasters that actually hurt me.
  16. On a lighter note, Fabio getting smoked by a bird was pretty epic
  17. First two were Scorpion & Python at Busch Gardens Tampa when I was 7.
  18. Wild Beast, underrated? Really? I came here to post Grizzly myself, but the two of them are not the same coaster, built off the same plans or not. Grizzly isn't quite what it once was thanks to so much of the woods around it being torn down, but it's also far better than it was a few years ago; I believe it was retracked 2-3 years ago, and last time I rode it a few years back, it was remarkably smooth and fast, really a great ride, and still amazing after dark, if a little less so than a decade ago. Wild Beast though, I've never heard anyone that's ridden it and didn't feel like it was trying to kill them. I rode it for the first time earlier this summer, and I think it was the second worst coaster I've ever been on (beaten only Hercules at Dorney before it was improved by being turned into firewood). I could not believe how rough it was, it felt like it was completely coming apart. Hard to imagine how two "identical" coasters can ride so much differently, apart from a horrific lack of maintenance on WB, and that seems odd since most of CW seems quite well taken care of. Some people like rough, sketchy, near-death-feeling rides
