  1. (Out of character.) I have decided to move the story along a little faster, as I feel it is dragging quite a bit. Instead of doing 3 updates per year, announcements, construction updates, and things like that, I'll just show the new addition/improvement for that year. This should give the story some more momentum and help it move along a little better. (In character.) 17 April 1980 Wow! 1980 is here, and Seaside Spot just opened the biggest expansion in park history: Caribbean Cove! Located in Caribbean Cove is also the WORLD'S FIRST river rapids ride: Pacific Rapids! It's a beautiful start to the 1980 season here at Seaside Spot Theme Park! This is the new Caribbean Cove area, featuring 3 new rides! Did I mention that Caribbean Cove is the LARGEST investment in the history of Seaside Spot Theme Park?! It has a very "tropical" feel to it! One of the rides located in the new Caribbean Cove is Whirlpool--an Eli Bridge Scrambler ride. Not to mention, Caribbean Cove is also home to the world's first rapids ride, Pacific Rapids! The Voyage, a swinging ship ride, is also new this year as a part of Caribbean Cove! The new area sure takes up a lot of land! Now I see why it is the largest expansion in the park's history! Seaside Spot sure has grown since its opening 5 years ago! It has grown over DOUBLE in size! The 6th season here at the park looks like it will be yet another successful one! Here's to more to come!
  2. Great photos! Sometimes I forget about this independent park in a state almost nobody talks about. They also seem to have a decent ride selection. However, I'm just gonna be honest, Dragon looks awful. Not just the faded away paint, but the ride itself just looks rough and unattractive. Maybe one day we'll see a decent replacement (but of course, I haven't ridden it, so my judgement probably doesn't matter).
  3. Not a single GCI coaster has ever had a MCBR.
  4. ^What about Colossus at SFMM? And are your RMC idea creations available to see? I'd love to see some of them.
  5. ^A star flyer? Really? Sorry, I just had to chuckle. I would definitely love to see a new flat, but a star flyer is probably at the bottom of KBF's list considering all the trouble they had with Windseeker, whether it would come from Mondial or not. I'll be visiting Knott's for a few hours in the afternoon this Monday. I'll try and get a few photos if I see anything new (like the Xcelerator re-paint).
  6. (Out of character.) Sorry for the 3-month hiatus on this park. I intended to update this park more, but I recently received a new computer, so I've been trying to transfer the park file over to my new computer due to the fact that my old one was quite slow and a pain to use. It took me a while to figure it out, but all is good now and this new Macbook Pro is smokin' on RCT3! Anyway, Seaside Spot is back! Again, I apologize for the hiatus. (Back in character.) 22 July 1979 The 1979 season sure is great at Seaside Spot Theme Park. Attendance is very solid, and overall the park is doing great on its 5th season of operation! Some park improvements were made this past off season and shown off back in April, but another addition was made since then. It's smack in the middle of summer here in sunny Southern California. But guests have loved visiting Seaside Spot because of its nice cool breeze! It's surely a pretty park. Lumber Run's queue is filled up with kids and adults! It's a great ride for the whole family, and it goes around two cycles! Last season's new addition, Forest Run, is definitely getting the crowds as well. Full train after full train! Adventure Cars is also quite popular! Again, it's a whole ride the family can enjoy! Big Dipper. The icon of the park. Unfortunately, the California sun sure has taken a toll on the ride. The train is becoming quite faded as well as the wooden rails. Another improvement this season is a little eatery located at the end of Adventure Trail. Yummm...sandwiches and lemonade. Parachute Plunge has taken in a little too much sun as well. It's quite amazing what a few years of sun can do. But regardless of the weather, guests are still flocking to Seaside Spot each year! Wait, what's that over there? It appears that some dirt is being moved around adjacent to Parachute Plunge. I wonder what 1980 has in store. Nothing can be revealed quite yet, but I'll be sure to keep everyone's minds spinning with confusion. Don't worry, the announcement will sail in soon. Looking back, Seaside Spot sure has come a long way since opening day five seasons ago. I wonder what the next five will bring!
  7. I had a crazy idea come to mind yesterday. Since both Mr. Freezes got turned backwards in 2012, I think it would be pretty crazy (however likely) for Six Flags to turn Poltergeist and Joker's Jinx backwards. That would be a pretty twisted, insane ride. For some reason, I see Six Flags doing this at some point or another.
  8. ^If I had to change Millennium Force, I would lower the parallel airtime hills each by about 20 feet. It's still a great ride, but making those two hills serious ejector hills would be awesome.
  9. Wicked Twister. Montezooma's Revenge is very good too.
  10. I have a question since I'll be visiting Cedar Point in two weeks. Since the Shoot the Rapids accident last summer, has there been any changes to the ride since then? And does it have long lines? I rode it once back in 2012 and don't remember much, but I'd like to ride it again. Also, how is GateKeeper this season? I remember reading reviews about tight restraints and rattling. I know the vests don't tighten anymore, but is the ride still bounce and/or rattle a lot? I'm curious since it will be my first B&M Wing Coaster.
  11. I'm going to respond to this. You saw this happening.... how? It appears a tree branch fell on the track which caused this... NOT it falling apart because of loose rattling bolts like you say. What you posted almost sounds like something the typical GP would say. Come on... seriously? The trains have been running the way they were designed to. The ride is "seasoned" so it's going to sound like that. Don't you think if it was going to derail as you claim it would have already? And seriously this could happen to any coaster that has a tree branch fall on it. You did not see this coming, a tree branch (apparently) caused this, it's a random event. Okay, I see your point. I posted this before it was confirmed that a tree fell on the track, so I guess it's just a coincidence that the one ride in the park that felt rattly and loose derailed, regardless of the cause.
  12. I'm going to be honest--I saw this happening sooner or later. I love Ninja, but the ride rattled so much, it made me question how tightly the train was positioned on the track. I felt like all the bolts were going to come lose and the ride would derail at some point. Looks like it did. Good news is, no one looks hurt, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of Ninja.
  13. What I meant was designed to be operated with one train only, not operating with one train. My fault, I should have been more clear.
  14. The problem I see with this idea is that accidents like those of NTAG and the Superman hyper coasters aren't exactly caused by their weight, but more by their body shape and size. There could be an individual who weighed 300 pounds, but carried a lot of their weight in their butt and thighs, and fit in a coaster fine, as opposed to someone of the same weight with all of it in their gut, no allowing them to fit. If there was a scale before entering a ride, it would basically eliminate all people greater than or equal to that maximum size, even if their body shape allows them to properly fit in a restraint. Think of the Ride of Steel accident at Darien Lake a few years back. The rider was normal weight, but he didn't have complete and functional limbs, resulting in him being ejected. Now if it is simply a weight issue like Flying Turns at Knoebels or some sort of boat/water ride, then a scale is completely understandable (which Knoebels has for FT). Just my thoughts on the idea.
  15. Wow. This is terrible news. How unfortunate for the victim, his family, and anyone who witnessed it. On the other hand, a hydraulic, double-locking Intamin shoulder harness with a safety seatbelt seems like it would be pretty much impossible to fall out of. Is this the first time someone has fallen out of a ride with shoulder harnesses? I'm interested to see more details about the cause of the accident.
  16. Very interesting. I'm a little confused as to why there are little "patches" of cross ties randomly scattered throughout the ride. The don't seem to be high-g-force moments. Nonetheless, it looks great. And I believe this is the first B&M to ever feature only one train.
  17. ^Specifically, the small Dive coasters (Krake, this, and possibly Efteling). Griffon and Sheikra both have horizontal magnetic brakes. When B&M eventually builds a launch coaster of their own, I can pretty much guarantee that the vertical magnets will be used. Don't really know why, but it seems likely.
  18. 8th wonder of the world...hmm...interesting. I guess we can only wait and see. By the way, assuming this is a B&M coaster, Carowinds will have 4 B&Ms as of 2015. That's more than any other Cedar Fair park, right? I thought that was interesting, considering how much Cedar Fair likes B&M.
  19. ^To add on to that, the long straightaway after the first helix on both models should be replaced with a small speed hill.
  20. This is how I felt with Lex Luthor at SFMM. The drop really didn't do anything for me. All I felt was the speed. I prefer Supreme Scream at Knott's.
  21. ^It is pretty pathetic, but nonetheless the coaster sounds cool. I thought Coast Rider at Knott's was a pretty sad name as well, especially with GhostRider in the same park! So, since we are 99.99% sure that this coaster will be 325 feet tall (tallest non-launched), I assume it will need a pretty beefy chain lift--bigger than Leviathan's I would guess--unless B&M finally decides to go with the elevator lift system. They have been surprising us lately with the family coaster, backward coasters, new trains/restraints, etc. I definitely look forward to the official announcement.
  22. I think it would be great to see blue iron horse track! Hopefully it could be the same for Colossus as well, as they are both white-structures coasters.
  23. I know they're supposed to pull -1 G but I didn't really feel it was that much (maybe because it is quite quick) It must vary depending on the ride, because Supreme Scream (the one I ride the most often) had really strong ejector air at first that soon mellowed out to almost nothing, but Power Tower at CP felt a lot more controlled.
  24. I'm putting my money on the new dark ride for Knott's. They're basically spoon-feeding it to us now.
  25. I would replace Maverick's restrains withe I305-esque ones. It's still my #1 coaster, but giving the ride some comfortable restraints would seriously make it the perfect coaster. Beyond vertical drop, ejector airtime, twisties, launch, inversions--it has everything!
