Also I'm hearing the sky tower repairs of the elevator may be too high a cost to govern reopening it any time soon. Sounds like the Knott's octopus took a stop at Magic Mountain! Was just at the park, X2 was closed because of the wind and when I went back later, the employee said they got a call saying to not open it at all today. IDK if there's something wrong with it or if it's just cost/laziness since the park wasn't too busy today. Do they do that?!! On most days if it is closed due to winds, if they can't get it open in the first two hours it won't even open at all. Even if the wind has stopped. They just make the employees make excuses so they don't have to open it. The rule pretty much is if hey can't open it within the first half hour of the day, they aren't gonna open it at all. There has been one exception to this: I've seen it open at 5PM with a 9PM closing. This was four years ago, however.

Yikes, good catch!!! I will be calling SFMM tomorrow (Monday) and update this thread. As I'll be there on Tuesday and was hoping to purchase this for $90 for 2 of us. Question: when you purchased your dining pass during the flash sale in September, do you remember how much they had the dining pass for? And if that included meals for the rest of the 2014 season AND 2015? Curious $84.99 and yes The times Don't get in the way near as often as you'd think. Just go at a time you'd normally be eating lunch or dinner and you will be fine.

Tower of Terror - How does it work?
SFMMGeek27 replied to Leekak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only ridden the CA one, but no, it doesn't feel like a regular drop tower and certainly isn't free-falling or being pulled faster than gravitational pull. You come out of your seat on it, but I doubt you'd even need the seatbelt to be honest whereas on a regular drop you wouldn't stand a chance. A quick bit of googling suggests that the speed of the drop on TOT is about 40mph, Supreme Scream (a fairly slow drop ride) is 50mph, whereas the Intamin towers (like Lex Luthor) are 85mph. Yeah, Supreme Scream and Lex Luthor's top speeds are built up over a long time. What is important is that the acceleration of the drop tower is greater than the acceleration due to gravity (9.8ish m/s^2). It could be going 1,000 mph but if it took 100 seconds to do that then it is just falling with Gravity. -
Saturday is busy, as at least one other has said...have a look here. The park will be less busy on Sunday evening (which is the last day for Fright Fest). Actually, Saturday is the last day. I might head down there Saturday. It hopefully won't be too busy, considering it's after Halloween. Let's hope that most people don't know that it is still Fright Fest.

I like the original trains from the announcement video, but other than that I'm down for anything. In other news, I heard from my friend who is an Entertainment Lead at the park (manages one of the scarezones) that the park almost hit capacity last night during Fright Fest. Apparently there were 34k people in the park. I can't even imagine that place with that many people in it. On that note, what is the park's capacity? And has it ever hit capacity before?

Sounds good. There are no fast passes for TSM, you must wait it out. However, they always estimate high for the wait time so take 5-15 minutes off the posted wait time and that will be your wait. You don't need to run to TOT, and if you ride it right after You get your RSR FP, you probably won't benefit from having a fastpass anyways (other than 2 minutes). Don't get a fastpass for Indiana Jones, the outside queue goes fast and the indoor part which you would have to wait in even if you have a fastpass is really long. Earlier this week it was posted 40 minutes and it only took 20. Have fun! Enjoy your trip.

Fright Fest last night was AWESOME! Let alone the X2 takeover with me and my 5 friends for half an hour-- only ones on the whole train! Red's Revenge was MILES better than anything they've done before with great effects and everything. Lots of actors and great unexpected scares! Although, my favorite was Vault 666! The special effects in there really put it up to par with Universal. It was GREAT! There is a guy with a machine gun at the end and totally scared the crap out of me! Plus the cheesiness of the beginning of the maze was awesome! Also, I doubt this means anything, but the left Superman car is GONE! Nowhere to be found on the track or nearby. I wonder if this means we could finally be getting one side forwards and one side backwards!? That would be sweet.

I'm heading out to SFMM tomorrow to check out Colossus progress, get a few rides in, and to check out Fright Fest for a few hours. I'll post any pics I get. I'm going to Fright Fest for the whole night next Sunday October 5th, so you can expect my full write up and review with photos a few days after that. I LOVE Sunday FF, nobody ever goes!

Fright Fest starts at 7PM each night. Some of the indoor mazes may open at 6:45 or earlier, but all of the scare zones and outdoor mazes open and the event officially starts at 7PM each night. Just listen to the announcement throughout the park and that's how you'll know. And yes all the rides are open until park closing. If you don't go on a Saturday, then Fright Fest is a very good time to hit up rides with minimal wait, as everyone is in line for a maze or in a scare zone. This is especially true on Sundays. On Satrudays, both the maze and ride lines can be 90-120 min long during Fright Fest.

Just to be clear, the area these photos are coming from is COMPLETELY accessible to the public. Just walk toward the entrance and make a right turn right before the wall. Follow the path all the way back and you'll get to a very peaceful little sitting area in the back by the old exit bridge. On that fact, since I'm not able to get over to the park this weekend (next weekend for sure!), here are the photos from my good friends over at californiacoasterkings.com: This is the track coming out of the RIGHT station... The side that hasn't been used for a while. It continues around the corner to the right Beautiful!!! Looks like the bridge is staying Bunny hops please come true!!! Big I-box track
