It's actually a requirement by the State of California for the very rare case that the train gets perfectly stuck at the top of the loop. The red marks dead center and the green is used to tell if the train is more centered to the left or right side of the loop so that they know which way to push the train back down the loop. Remember that crane that sat next to YOLO for almost the whole first year it was open? The State required that crane to be there for that situation and Magic Mointain was paying a large amount of rent for the crane. The only other option to appease the State was to paint the loop like they did. Once they painted the YOLOop that crane was gone FAAAAST!

Ok? The fact that the park was discounting their premium level pass to $70 is a pretty telling sign as to the quality of the product. They're not even trying to pretend they are a high quality amusement park. $70 for a gold pass is basically them saying "we know our product sucks, but we also know you guys who visit us don't give a sh*t and just want to ride coasters." Just checked their website and it is now the September Early Bird Sale! Now you have to buy 2 or more passes at $75 to get the Gold Upgrade. One gold pass is $134.99, Combo $114.99, and Regular $74.99. Still a great deal. Oh, and the dining pass went up from $84.99 to $99.99.

West Coast Bash 2014 - TICKETS ON SALE!
SFMMGeek27 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't make the whole event (plus I don't have a ticket) but I might stop by SFMM While the park is open on Sunday and say hi to some of you. We will see as the weekend gets closer. -
I was amazed! It was closed all day when I was there a couple weeks ago so I wonder if they were doing some track work or what? The track looked more "greased" to me since last time. It felt like we were floating above it more than riding on it. Much less friction and square wheels. It was great! I only went twice, but I could've stayed on all day! I'm glad someone feels the same way

Photo Update from Sunday 8/31/14 For being the middle of a holiday weekend, the park was not crowded at all, at least in the morning. We got there a couple mins early, and I have to say, the finger scanners are doing much better! I processed my pass that I got online at the gate and the process took no more than 30 seconds! People just scanning their pass for entry were in in less than 10 seconds! First, we headed up to Tatsu. They were not open yet, but they were letting people into the queue. Five minutes later, they are open and we are on the second train of the day. Next we head up the hill to Log Jammer, where even with one train we walked right onto the front row. A much different ride without all the trees. (Did I say Log Jammer? Oops, meant Ninja!) Then we walked onto Superman, left side only open, no wait. Both sides were open later in the day, as were both stations on Tatsu. After Superman, we headed over to Apocalypse. It was running amazingly! We rode on Train 1 twice in a row and it felt almost as smooth as when it opened! It was super pleasant, better than it has been in a couple years! Then we walked onto Riddler and Batman, both with no wait. Batman still has SFOT's trains is is super quiet and smooth with them! Next, I headed down Back Alley for some Colossus construction photos and to catch a ride on Scream! The ride was experiencing a delay so I didn't ride, but it was back open later! I headed up to LLDOD (10 min wait) and then Goliath (20 min wait). Hit up Throttle after this with only a 25 min wait, not even under the canopy! Then headed up to Revolution for a quick ride, running pretty smooth! Then waited 10 min for Viper and it was terrible! A worse ride than usual! Now it was time to ride X2. The wait could be seen from the entrance but it still only took 45 min thanks to the amazing crews! By the time I left the wait was down to 20 min. or so. Solid day at the park! But enough with the words, onto the pictures! Welcome to Six Flags Magic Mountain... In case you forgot where you were at! This update is brought to you by my iPhone 5s. Didn't have my other camera with me. Now to Colossus... THE TRACK IS GONEEEEE! You can kind of make it out in this photo, but the track ends right before the brake run and is completely gone all the way through the station! This was in the middle of the day, like 1:30 PM! With no Colossus nobody comes down here! Back Alley here we come! Something that can't be seen in New Jersey! Thanks, State of California, at least you did SOMETHING right! Looks like a spill near Center Ring Games... Six Flags' Solution! Up on Samurai Summit there are some crates with stuff for the Willoughby's Garden of Darkness Fright Fest Maze! The A/C was freezing and there was no line! Awesome! Also no line for Riddler! The "Colossus County Fair" Restrooms are apparently closed for renovations. No signs or anything. I just needed to go to the restroom and as I was walking in I ran into this... Haha The right side track is also all gone all the way to the lift! Supports and all! It was impossible to get a picture of the rest but you could see it from Goliath. The track on the lift is also cut into segments so it can easily be removed this week. Short line for YOLO! Awesome!!!! Throttle again! Why? Cuz YOLO! Thanks for reading this update and let me know if you have any questions! Let me know if you want anymore updates soon! Chupacabra maze being worked on early! Hopefully there are some new surprises here this year! Over at X2 Plaza there are some lights being set up for Fright Fest! The Boxtrolls so they are called were out for pictures with people all day in front of the Golden Bear! I felt uncomfortable around them! Interesting movie choice... Seriously, these things CREEP me out!

Topic change, but I came across this video from CBS with an unterview with CEO Jim Reid Anderson about Twisted Colossus. What's interesting is that the video was taken while the Classic Colossus was still open. He told the plans about TC to the reporter while on the original ride, with others sitting right behind them. I guess CBS has known about this for a few weeks? Hmm that's interesting. Here's the link to it: http://youtu.be/UHe6mPp-2PI

So much for your sources. You probably just found out about the name on Coaster-Net and then went off of some speculation going on around there. And didn't the leak just happen through the nodes or whatever in the main website? That's what it sounds like all you had to go off of. Stop trying to be all important and relevant with your "I got sources" attitude. Just ride some roller coasters. I really don't care about the credit or that attitude. I'm just trying to help you guys out with some information. And for just getting the facts straight. Anyways, my opinion about it... I am thoroughly impressed. I just about facepalmed while watching the video the first time when I saw the two tracks and was thinking it's gonna be really short, but I LOVE the idea of going around twice! I can't wait to ride this thing and I'm in no way disappointed. But one question: when are we going to hear the precise top speed, height, and track length on this thing? Those things seem kind of important and they have to be known by now.

Your source being a guy who publicly posted this info to his blog/twitter, then you scurried over here to post as if it were some top secret stuff from an anonymous source? In that case, good on you dude - you were right, please advise of the Emmy and Grammy winners ahead of time so I can place my wagers, I now have full faith in your impeccable He was actually not my source. I knew about it and posted here way before he posted that stuff. I have insiders in the park that get me my information. This was all before the website leak too. They actually knew what they were talking about.

Thanks for the update! Also, I told you guys my sources were right... Until next time. And for those of you complaining about the length: Full Throttle isn't anywhere close to half the length of this! In fact, this is the LONGEST RIDE IN THE PARK! Then again, I think Tatsu wasn't worth the investment. Am I the only one that thinks it is really short? It doesn't seem worth the wait for me and I think it's just as much of a gimmick as Full Throttle. However, X2 is a different story.

I'm the poster of these rumors and I hate the name Twisted Colossus too. I'm afraid that's what it gonna be called though. I'm not 100% sure though. As for the track, I'm hearing they are taking both out and are putting one track in the middle so that they have more structure to work with. We will see on Thursday!
-
I'm hearing from inside sources that the name of the RMC Colossus will be TWISTED COLOSSUS! This is from a trusted source that has been right about all additions so far... So I'm excited to see if this will indeed be the name of the coaster. This thread has been dead lately! And we are 4 days from the announcement! Last minute predictions/opinions anyone?

Yes, it's open all day. It's really light crowds. I've walked on Goliath, Colossus, Scream, Batman, Riddler, and Gold Rusher since I've been here. Currently in line for Superman. One side open and the line starts at the flash pass person. Park Management is at the pass check at Colossus so that they can control angry guests. But 90% of people that go to Six Flags have passes anyways so.... Yeah.
