  1. The word "gimmick" is thrown around so much by coaster enthusiasts for no good reason. Wanna know the definition of "gimmick"? "A trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business." So therefore any new addition to a park is a gimmick, whether it be a wing coaster or a kiddie coaster that consists of a single hill.
  2. Yeah you are right. Leviathan and Behemoth were such cheap investments and are completely worthless coasters. You should be jealous of Worlds of Fun. They are getting swan boats next year.
  3. From the posts you made earlier, it appears you've never ridden Raging Bull, yet somehow you think you can say that it's "an OK hyper coaster". How would you know? Just wondering.
  4. Home Park: Six Flags St. Louis (30 minutes), Silver Dollar City (4 hours) Favorite Park: Silver Dollar City (runners up are Magic Kingdom and Holiday World)
  5. Agree with you on this one. CCI really did create a beast with this one, and the park is having a hard time taming it. I hope it gets I-boxed real soon.
  6. Really any park that has lots of trees looks good in the fall, whether it be Holiday World, SDC, or any other heavily wooded park.
  7. Drop capsule slides still scare the crap out of me. I did man up and ride Scorpion's Tail at Noah's Ark this past summer, and it was worth it. I just shut my eyes and next thing I know it is over.
  8. HellCat at Timber Falls It has a great-looking layout designed by Alan Schilke, yet the park has let it become the worst wooden coaster I've been on. So so so so bad. I read somewhere that the park actually loses money on the ride. But it help brings in people for mini golf and the other attraction, so it does help them out in the end. Even so, I wish they'd invest in a refurb of the track.
  9. Visited Fright Fest for the third time last night and did the houses again. A few notes: -Park was probably the most crowded I've ever seen it. Long lines for every ride. The line for The Slaughter House ran from the facade/sign all the way to the top of the fountain near the mine train. I'm glad we got the Express passes. -Voided Vision had the shortest line of any of the houses. When we passed by it later, all of the people in line were crowded around the right side of the queue to watch the stunt show next door instead of going into the maze. I'm really hoping this maze goes bye-bye next year. It just plain sucks. -Blind Fury was my favorite house last night, followed by Insanity Alley, and then Slaughter House and Voided Vision. A lot of the actors in both BF and IA like to get up close and personal, which can be awkward, but also funny. For example, in BF, one monster pretty much chased my friend into a corner and then another one stuck his hands through the wall she was up against. And in IA, our group stopped for a second, and then a guy appeared right in front of us and screamed in my friend's face. I saw him pretty much put his hand an inch away from another guy's face and not let him move, which was funny as well. -The Slaughter House really needs more actors. It has a long-a$$ cornmaze and two huge buildings full of scenes and effects. I probably saw less than 15-20 scare actors. There need to be at least 30 in a maze that large. Also, the shaking cage was operating and really scared a few of the people in there with us. -The details in Blind Fury are awesome, especially in the doll and teddy bear rooms. Also, that monkey is hilarious. I think it was my group's favorite house. -I wasn't as blown away as Insanity Alley as I was two weeks ago. I don't think there were as many actors this time. -What happened to the giant scarecrow/pumpkin king dudes in the front plaza?
  10. Culver's and Wendy's are favorites of mine as far as burgers go. For chicken, it's Chick-Fil-A and Raising Cane's (is this a nationwide chain? I have no clue. Lion's Choice is a local chain based in St. Louis and the roast beef sandwiches are OMFG delicious.
  11. I really do like wing coasters. GateKeeper is #10 on my steel list. I really don't care if they don't have extreme g-forces, they are fun and give a real sense of flying, more than any other type of coaster does.
  12. ^LOL. In the post you quoted he said was a broke college kid who splurged and got Fast Lane. So obviously you don't have to be rich to get one.
  13. The triple down tunnel on the Voyage. Full of insane airtime.
  14. DHS is going to be a giant construction zone for the next couple of years. It may affect attendance, but then again all the good attractions are still open, so who knows. The park is going to look completely different in a couple of years, and I can't wait.
  15. We rode it twice Saturday night, opening weekend. The first time had a wait of about an hour, the second time towards the end of the night, there wasn't a line at all. I think the attention to detail is much better than last year. The encampment and bubbling pond with fog off in the distance (to the left just past the SkyScreamer) was cool, the newly redone building facades, the glowing tube along the tracks, and the mutant are all noteworthy and how bout that Imagine Dragons remix? It was a bit of a let down though as far as "scare factor". We'll be there tomorrow to ride it again. Well it's not like the Terror Train has ever been "scary".
  16. Just FYI, Roar has ratchet lap bars that are designed to do that.
  17. Annoying the crap out of the park will not make them give you a response any quicker. It's not likely for parks to get ideas from theme park fansite forums, or emails from their "fans" or the GP and take their suggestions. This is reality we're talking about and a park can't just easily repaint a ride or put in a new ride like in RCT. Don't know why you quoted me. All I was saying was that emailing them constantly will not get any response.
  18. I don't think it really is a small park anymore, but I guess I'll go with Holiday World.
  19. It would be interesting to see if they could incorporate the "Made with Magic" concept into an app for a phone that made the screen light up with the show. Then again, it would probably drain people's phone batteries and nobody wants to hold their phone up for an entire show, so it's probably a dumb idea. However, it would be cool to see if they could create MagicBands with LED lights built in in order to glow with the show. That one doesn't sound as dumb.
  20. ^The article states that her baby is 100% fine and she is too. This incident really didn't have any lasting effect her life at all. It's a dumb lawsuit, plain and simple.
  21. Yeah, I really liked GateKeeper, especially the drop. It's not my #1 fave drop, but it's up there.
  22. Annoying the crap out of the park will not make them give you a response any quicker.
  23. Eh. I don't know what to think about this one. I mean, sure, America is a sue-happy culture nowadays. It is ridiculous sometimes. And I really disagreed with the whole Bill & Ted controversy last year. That was dumb. But calling 13 year old girls sluts and whores, that kind of crosses the line for me. Especially when done in a public environment in front of a large crowd. However, there is the chance that the actor thought the girls were much older than they a really are and made a mistake, which is what I am thinking probably happened. I mean, 20 year old females would've just laughed it off and wouldn't think twice about it, but it's totally different with 13 year olds. In the end, all the families want is an apology. I do think they could have waited a little longer before making this a huge public thing, but at least they aren't demanding money like so many dumb Americans feel the need to do. Hopefully Universal will make an apology and then this whole discussion can be forgotten about.
  24. Cyclone Sam's at Worlds of Fun blew me away. Just goes to show that theming and special effects can turn an okay ride into a fantastic one.
