Yeah....that's not real

Fright Fest this year was far better than last years. I sprung for a Slasher Express pass and it was worth it. Here's a short ranking of the houses and scare zones: Scare Zones 1. Insanity Alley- The actors were all great and are good at getting in your "bubble" to freak you out. The new scenes are fun and elevated this maze to my new favorite. 2. Blind Fury- There were no big modifications to this house, but then again, it really didn't need any. The toy theme is more creepy than you'd think, especially those god-damn monkeys. Even without their cymbals, those things scare the crap out of me. 3. The Slaughter House- Geez. This was by far my favorite last year, but this year it was a complete trainwreck. There are 7 points where they stop the line to allow space between groups, which is completely ridiculous. The crate that shakes no longer does so, they just let you walk right through it. And the entire second building (I'm not crazy, there was a second building last year, right?!) is gone, meaning the maze isn't the long and intense maze it was in year's past. 4. Voided Vision- This year I managed to encounter a total 2 actors inside (much better than 0 last year). The actors now have lights that they quickly shine at you, which can be seen all the way from the other side of the theater, ruining the whole pitch black concept. I hope next year this one is replaced by a new house, not just renamed once again. Scarezones 1. Clowns- The new location works well, and the use of Scooby's old props was cool. The actors are great as well. 2. Zombies- I only spotted 3 zombies in the area when we passed through. And only 2 of them actually looked like they were trying to scare people. 3. Cannibals- The walk through area is no longer there, which is a bummer. The actors are good, but I really preferred last year's set up. Screamin' Eagle, Mr. Freeze, and Batman were all running great today as well.

I'd rank the three I've ridden as follows: 1. Lightning Run @ Kentucky Kingdom- Wow wow wow wow wow. Moments of extreme airtime and insane twists and turns. Even if the park isn't my fave, this ride is a gem. 2. Goliath @ Six Flags Great America- I loved the drop and the zero-G stall, but the ride was just super short and had a few boring elements. I was slightly disappointed. 3. Banshee @ Kings Island- It's my #2 invert. Fun ride, but not my favorite coaster ever by any means. It had a slight rattle that made the ride feel like a blur.

WW'S COASTERMANIA PTR
Woodie Warrior replied to Woodie Warrior's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After leaving Santa Claus after one of the best experiences I've had at a theme park, we headed next for what would turn out to be one of the worst experiences I've had at a theme park. Now, not everything about the park was bad. Lightning Run and FreeFall were awesome and the waterpark looked pretty good (although, after visiting Splashin' Safari we really didn't feel like spending any time there). However, the park's landscaping, operations, crowd, and overall feel were by far the worst of any park I've ever been to. Especially the crowds. I heard lots of interesting conversations and got plenty of cigarette smoke blown in my face in the queue lines. The park hasn't yet thrown off its Six Flags vibe and the fences surrounding the park make the whole place seem like a prison (the crowds kind of add to the prison feel as well). Yeah, that entire paragraph came off so negative. So now I'll talk about the positive parts of the park in an attempt to try not to sound like a total hater! -Lightning Run is by far one of the best steel coasters I've been on. Full of airtime and crazy twists. I LOVED it. Such a great investment for any small park that wants a world class ride. -I also really enjoyed FreeFall as well, although honestly, I didn't feel that much of a difference between it and a second-gen Intamin drop tower. Still great, though. -Thunder Run was very smooth, but I have to admit it didn't do anything for me. It was decent, I guess. -The Giant Wheel was fun. I was able to take lots of pics from up there. Anyways.... Here is my scorecard for the day: -Thunder Run 2x -Flying Dutchman 1x -Giant Wheel 1x -Lightning Run 1x -FearFall 1x -Breakdance 1x -Himalaya 1x -5D Cinema 1x -Lightning Run 1x Here are my reviews of the two coasters: Thunder Run- I've heard glowing reviews about Thunder Run, but honestly it did nothing for me. Sure it was smooth, but the layout was relatively boring. It's a Dinn coaster though, what was I expecting. As of this posting, Thunder Run is ranked #18 out of my 20 wooden coaster credits. Lightning Run- Like I said earlier, one of the best coasters out there. It is like Chance and RMC had a baby. So much airtime and different elements thrown together perfectly. The highlight of our day at Kentucky Kingdom. As of this posting, Lightning Run is ranked #4 out of my 58 steel coaster credits. Now onto the flat rides I rode: Flying Dutchman- Like the Flying Dutchman at Worlds of Fun, this ride isn't very thrilling. It's calm and peaceful, yet still fun. 3/10 Giant Wheel- This made for some great views and photos. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still a relaxing ride. 5/10 FearFall- It feels just like a second-gen Intamin tower, yet is only half the size, which is mind boggling. A great drop tower that does prove the giant thrills can come in small(ish) sizes. 9/10 Breakdance- I'd never seen or ridden a Breakdance ride before. It looked like it would be thrilling, fast, and forceful- even more so than a Scrambler ride. But it wasn't nearly as fun as it looked. 4/10 Himalaya- I rode a Himalaya at a fair not too long ago and was surprised by its extreme force. However, Kentucky Kingdom turned what had the potential to be the best flat at the park into a slow and rather boring attraction. And for some odd reason the minimum height requirement is 60"? 4/10 5D Cinema- The Rio film worked surprisingly well for an attraction like this. It's nothing amazing, but it is a nice way to keep out of the hot sun. 3/10 And to close off, some pictures I took with my iPhone: I spot Louisville! The waterpark looked nice, we just weren't up for it after visiting Splashin' Safari. Maybe next time. The Giant Wheel gives great views of the entire park, especially Lightning Run. Deluge opened right around the time we left. I am a huge fan of Proslide's water coasters, so I'm bummed we missed out on it this time. We'll have to ride it next time, when we visit Hurricane Bay. As for the coaster behind it, I'm not too upset about missing that one. Those bunny hills have some major (almost ejector) air. Green train is headed up. Thunder Run was an okay woodie. RMC did a great job retracking it, the layout was just extremely boring to me. A look at the Giant Wheel from below... and another pic from the side. Crossing the bridge back to the main part of Kentucky Kingdom. The station gates haven't been modified since Greezed Lightnin', so they don't exactly match up with the new trains. Enterprise was closed. If Twisted Twins does get the Iron Horse treatment, for sure I'll give Kentucky Kingdom another visit in 2016. And even though I didn't have that great of a visit, I wish the park the best in the future. -

Color saturation filters also help that out! Well, yes. But I'm sure they are still bright in person nonetheless. -

Nice pics! I didn't realize how vibrant the rides at CW are. -

Does upgrading the weapon (the wood with a nail in it) do anything? I was thinking it meant you got more probes but that didn't happen, so... -
False. I've never been on an adult Zamperla coaster so I don't have an opinion. The person below is male.

True true true. The person below me thinks the Beast is overrated.

I was planning on doing the same thing. Then my phone automatically updated the game. The new build menu will take some time to get used to but I do like how it looks. -
Outlaw Run rough? I was just there a little over a week ago and to me it was as smooth as when it opened. Didn't feel any bumps at all, and I rode mostly in the very back seat. Strange. Oh, I completely agree. But I believe somebody posted about it in the Roughest Coaster thread, which made me chuckle.
-
False, actually. The person below me will write "True" in response to this statement.
-
False. I have been on both Outlaw Run and Goliath, though. The person below has thumbs.

If you use your phone properly, I have doubts that it will bend. It pretty much only bends when the teenage girls shove the phone without a case into their itty bitty little back pocket and sit on it all the time. If I get one there is no way I wouldn't get a case. I was just wondering. That whole video of the guy holding the phone and bending it with his hands made me laugh. I mean, all it proves is that if you use your hands and try to bend it, it WILL bend. What a shocker! I'm sure you could do the same thing with any phone you choose.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City. One of the best launch coasters out there. -

Questions -Have you been to either park before? Yes. I visited both parks this past July. -Do you have any horror stories from either? Timber Falls was empty and the employees didn't seem very interested in their jobs. The whole place was pretty sketchy. -What do you think the parks could do to attract more of an audience? Timber Falls needs a new something. And it also needs to be refreshed (lots and lots of paint). And Mt. Olympus already draws a big crowd anyways, so... I guess a steel coaster would help. -Hades 360, thumbs up or thumbs down? Thumbs up. Apparently it got retracked this past offseason, because the ride was pretty darn smooth. It's #4 on my wooden list. -Cyclops, was it everything you thought it would be, or do you think it's overrated? The airtime was effing awesome. It sits right behind Hades on my list. Short but super sweet is how I would describe it. -What are your thoughts on Avalanche? Rough rough rough rough rough. I was the only one on the train and it was just so horrible. It has a great layout (designed by Alan Schilke, of course) but the park just let it go it seems like. -
True. Just started playing it a couple of months ago, though. The person below me has not been to Silver Dollar City.
-
I'd love for the park to have a house out in the woods where you take the train and it drops you off out there. Never going to happen, but it would be interesting. USH does something similar with their tram tour at HHN. I am surprised they aren't doing the holiday theme for the terror train this year. The decorations last year were really cool looking, and Christmas decorations are not cheap. Maybe they got shipped off to another park in the chain that has a Holiday in the Park event.
-
False The person below me has ridden Millennium Force and it is not #1 on their list.
-
Just left Silver Dollar City after a great day. The Wild West Show was spectacular and definitely worth seeing, and so was Great American Country nights, which is always a fun way to end a day at the park. We got to the park at 3 and it closed at 6. By 5:30 the park was empty and Powder Keg had a 2 cycle wait. Amazing ride, as always. I've heard a few people talk about how rough Outlaw Run has become...well, they must be giant sissies if they consider one or two bumps "rough". I mean seriously, it isn't completely glass smooth as it was last year, but who effing cares? It's still the best coaster I've been on.

People who actually want to go through these are either insane or just plain dumb (or both). I mean, why does this guy even go through the effort of designing all these sets? He could accomplish the same thing by blindfolding somebody, tying them up, and then smacking them around with a baseball bat while dunking them in ice water.
