  1. I do not understand your obsession with Awful House, but Busch Gardens looks beautiful, especially that Brauhaus. Stumbling into a Wawa FTW.
  2. Wow, that's really interesting. Seems to have made a major change around 2001....I wonder how much of this has been NCLB and its progeny? With so much more placed on kids academically at that age, possible they just don't have time to devote to work. I doubt the percentage of kids who have to work at that age has changed all that much, so it's kids who were previously choosing to work now choosing other things.
  3. Yeah, minimum wage is actually higher than minimum wage, if you know what I mean. Around where I live minimum wage is $8.60 but I frequently see fast food places advertising $9.50-$10. When I was a kid I seriously entertained working for Silver Dollar City, but when I could get more money and more hours from McDonald's with a shorter commute, I chose that. We're seeing a similar economy now and guess what? All the kids are making the same choices I did in 2000. Go figure.
  4. ^ Just want to say I really appreciate your injection of expertise into the discussion. It's really valuable. Also love the sarcasm.
  5. Yeah I have Disney ads on heavy rotation here. Those aren't sexual for most people.
  6. New JR JR "Day In, Day Out" [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  7. Haha. I did participate in Drynuary (not drinking for all of January). Nice reset, I recommend it every so often. Anyway, tonight's selection is the Irish Red Ale from Six Mile Bridge in Maryland Heights, Missouri (suburban St. Louis). Has a pleasant combination of bitter, sweet, and sour. Very complex and well done.
  8. Oh nice. I like that a lot of their stuff is heated. I went in August and the water was still pretty cold in the non-heated pools. A hot tub would do well here, I think.
  9. Curious what excuse Magic Mountain gives. Well, let's see, it's California, so I'm guessing this is the most likely scenario: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  10. June 13, 2017 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkyScreamer#History
  11. I'm convinced they're going to get the Scandia Screamer. I've got my reasons and I'm not going to tell you what they are so deal with it, losers.
  12. Oh, that's not the case at all. We had an incredible time! The carefree atmosphere is hard to put into words and I think it's a place you truly have to experience to understand it. It was the most innocent fun I've had in years. Scooters, Phoenix, Black Diamond, Haunted Mansion... so fun! An afternoon refreshing swim and great food. There's really not much to dislike about Knoebels. As far as fascination goes, I just didn't get the hype. Maybe it was because there were some kids just schooling everyone and winning every single prize... It was hard to spend more than a short period of time in there without wanting to go back into the park. I still need to post a short TR. Ah gotcha. Well, then I'm glad the trip got better after Kennywood. And yes, please post your TR whenever you can. I say as I'm about 2 months behind too....
  13. Final Fantasy Strawberry or blueberry?
  14. Ain't no party like an Intamin maintenance party, 'cause an Intamin maintenance party happens twice a day!
  15. Awesome! I'm surprised Dawn enjoyed the Twisted Timbers that much, pretty cool! I still haven't gotten Julie to ride Outlaw Run, lol. You guys always have your priorities right. Perfect day.
  16. Interesting video. I think I can see that train lean, but it's tint so it ain't easy to be seen.
  17. Sorry you didn't have a great experience with Knoebels. I think for me, what was so compelling about Knoebels was a feeling that I hadn't gotten since summer camp when I was a kid. Maybe it's that I did camp while I was there, but it's also the pool and the mini golf and the food and the haphazard layout. It all just works in a way that was emotionally resonant.
  18. It's a solid if short term strategy. Eventually you will run out of days to add to the calendar. Glad to hear they were looking at YoY per park and not just relying on the new parks to carry revenue growth. I say whatever keeps Batman running in January is good news.
  19. Love the new paint! Looks very Roman with the purple and gold.
  20. ^^^^ Sweet, man, have fun! ^ Glad to have confirmation it's not an upcharge. That was the probability, but since it's replacing an upcharge, good to know for sure. It sounds like a lot of fun.
  21. That is a fantastic day in London! All the noms look amazing!
