*bump* I feel like posting some of my favorite photos. All of these were taken with a Nikon Coolpix P2 camera. Also, that Kumba photo was slightly photoshopped just to remove a bird flying in the background. Other than that, I think it came out pretty awesome. A nice SheiKra overbank photo. I like this coaster and I like this picture, enough said. I like this picture for the reason that buffalo is about to gore that photographer. This picture is awesome since it is not about Buffalo, NY. Grand Tetons from last summer.

What is a Jiffy? A jiffy can't be used to describe a unit of time?

Thank you for posting this friendly reminder. I don't mind loading since I am on cable. However, I have seen people upload pictures that take up almost an entire 1280 by 1024 pixel screen!

Maverick's Kooky Warning Sign
Homer replied to HogarthOK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Several factors, 1. OTSRs- your head is bound to maybe hit the side of the restraint if the ride is forceful or rough (which is doubtful). Cedar Point does not want anybody's ears to bleed, which leads to reason number two... 2. Health- I doubt Cedar Point would want to be a hotbed for diseases, no? If your ears bleed and the blood dries on the restraint, Cedar Point could be liable for the spreading of diseases through the blood. In other words, do you really want bragging rights that Maverick gave you AIDS? ... //I'd brag that Maverick gave me AIDS any day. -

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Homer replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I once heard a rumor awhile back that Kent Beuscher (owner of Wild Adventures and Cypress Gardens) was considering adding low-cost Intamin rides to their parks. Some of the rumors said a low-end Impulse coaster (like Steel Venom at Valleyfair!) or a Half Pipe, which are kind of small and low cost. Would have been nice to have an Intamin in Florida that isn't a flat ride. -
To be honest Robb, I feel kind of split. Cypress Gardens is practically one of Florida's most historic attractions, in a way, Starliner fits in with the park because its historic. But then it goes down to marketing, and longtime residents such as Elissa's rents and my parents (living in the same town for 25 years, I've lived with them my entire life) have barely heard of Miracle Strip or Starliner as a matter of fact. Maybe the park should have installed something that is cheap and marketable, like say... a Volare. Crappy ride, but with a marketable punch such as: "Hey Florida, [insert FL park here] does not have a ride where you can FLY LIKE A BIRD!" Oh well, at least the ride is finally being built. Now lets take bets on when it will open, $100 Schrute bucks on August!

No, dry as a bone in Florida. Are you on summer break yet?

What is your favorite Stand Up coaster?
Homer replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've ridden Georgia Scorcher and Mantits. Mantits, though fun did not seem to pack as much of a whallop that Georgia Scorcher does. Scorcher has headchoppers, forces, tight layout. It seems like Scorcher is almost like a compact Schwarzkopf in design. Georgia Scorcher, hands down, best Stand-up coaster. -
Sometimes they do. Recently, a case like this has happened in Florida, but on a much grander scale. A man was locked up in a prison for 20+ years because he was accused of raping a girl, but with newer technology, he was found to be not guilty. Because of his imprisonment, he never heard that his mother died and the new technology that has occurred the past 20 years (cellphones, internet, etc.). The state of Florida was going to give him a million dollar reimbursement, but was shot down at the last minute during budget planning. Getting nothing in return for two decades of false imprisonment is injustice.

What is your favorite pizza chain and one of a kind place?
Homer replied to edh's topic in Random, Random, Random
Chain: Papa John's. Local: Demetrios in the SRQ. -
^CoastersNSich, Hersheypark is not as anal about rain. If you want a park that is anal about rain, then its Knott's Berry Farm. It closes in a drizzle!

Another amusing update, Robb and Elissa. -
I rode Mantits back in 2003. It was a decent ride but a tiny bit bumpy. Keep in mind, tiny. Mantits is fun, but not as intense as Georgia Scorcher.
