  1. MF doesn't surprise me. Although not ranked as high among enthusiasts, GP loves it. Diamondback... wait... what? Don't get me wrong. I really like Diamondback. I would maybe rank it #1 out of the B&M hypers I've ridden, but if I had a top 10 list out of my 150 coasters, I'm not sure D-back would even be up there. Even more surprising is Goliath. Goliath is fun, but aside from the Helix it's relatively forgettable. It probably ranks last on my list of B&M Hypers. Alto, Intimidator is a great airtime machine but lacks positive forces of any kind. It looks like the GP weighed in heavily this year. This is yet another example of how the majority opinion differs from the coaster geek. The food critic prefers rack of lamb, but your average Joe (or average Zach in my case) will still take a crowd pleasing hamburger any day.
  2. I'm not doubting you, but can you explain how the park has dropped in quality? This should be a wake up call to lose weight, not a demand for larger accommodating restraints. People can be mad about this comment all they want, but it's the truth.
  3. They don't build "kick-ass" rides, because they want to cater to the majority. My non coaster nerd wife wouldn't tolerate me dragging her to so many parks if every ride were like I-305. She actually gets enjoyment out of rides like B&M Hypers and Wing Riders due to the freedom and smoothness. On most everything else, she kind of just holds on and waits until it's over. (kind of like our sex life) B&M is in the business of making money while making fun rides. At least they are coming back with a few intense rides showing up here and there, now. I understand your frustration, but try to appreciate them for what they are, not what you want them to be.
  4. That sounds more like a geeked out simulator that the GP is not going to care about. You have to consider the fact that this game will be marketed toward adolescents and children. Again, we're the minority. Are they? How many adults do you think are really going to rush out and buy this game? That's with the exception of the few and far between roller coaster enthusiasts... and then even less of those people who play video games.
  5. Ugly tower is ugly. No way around it. Salt Lake? Salt Lake City? Amazing Micro Brews? It's not just a park in the middle of the desert.
  6. My wife and I were just talking about how we wanted to go to Salt Lake City next year. WINNING!
  7. Good call, lol. Even the 8 ball is in denial!
  8. The Elephant Ear guy says you're full of sh*t!
  9. Back to SFSTL talk... so... when are we going to get that hyper?
  10. Is that a fact, or are you just talking out of your A$$? What a very bold (and ignorant) statement. That being said, we should probably get back on topic before things get ugly. I'll just pretend I didn't read that garbage.
  11. I want too, But my family is worried about St. Louis in it's current condition (Ferguson) so it's a huge IF. You're worrying way too much. I'm about ten minutes from Ferguson, which is now mostly quiet, and we haven't had one problem. Six Flags is in the complete opposite direction. Ferguson is also no effecting downtown St. Louis.
  12. ^^ Wish I could come out and meet up with some of you guys to have a few beers, but unfortunately I'm working. I actually talked to Dave Roemer about this "contract" that everyone has been talking about. Basically unless corporate is hiding something from hi, that contract is just a rumor. Either way, he said that it has, to his knowledge, no impact whatsoever on the Boss getting converted. If that's the case then it really surprises me that no one else has taken the bait.
  13. They sound like some of the older folks over at SFSTL thread. At least they have a somewhat legitimate beef, unlike KD. But SFSTL hasn't had a major coaster for quite a long time, and the biggest thing they have gotten was a relocated boomerang. If they got an I305, you KNOW they would shut up and thank the Six Flags Gods. I can't deny that, they would shut up. Yes. We would.
  14. SF will likely make the most of the conversions while under the supposed contract. Seeing as how we are seeing most of the bad woodies converted, if it doesn't happen within the contract time frame, it don't think it will ever happen or at least not for a while. It just seems most likely that it will happen within the contract window. Considering how popular the conversion is it wouldn't surprise me if the contract rumor is legitimate, since no other companies have obtained an I-box treatment.
  15. Quit spreading this BS rumor around. There was never anything to "drop." There was no contract. Just because CF doesn't have any current Intamin projects doesn't mean they never will again.
  16. I was just looking at this post from an expert, over nine years ago. So aside from American Thunder, what's changed? Where's the draw? If the Boss doesn't get redone next year, we will probably get a coaster. Dude... Wake up!
  17. ^ Knowing SF corp, that wouldn't surprise me. As far as the RMC contract goes, I know that the contract was for SF to have exclusive rights to the iron horse treatment. I'm not sure if the contract included a guaranteed number of projects per year. I thought that contract was set to expire at the end of 2015 or 2016. Here are a list of possible candidates throughout the chain: Georgia Cyclone @ SFoG American Eagle @ SFGam (yes I could see this before the Boss, despite Goliath) OK... so I ran out of candidates. Basically if the boss doesn't happen by 2016, it probably won't happen at all.
  18. Come on... we're not talking Six Flags here. Hopefully they won't cheese ball it up like that. I'll think less of CF is fire and/or music are added.
  19. This shows that CP is really committed to making a well rounded park as opposed to battling for coaster count with MM(vomit). I'm happy that they recognized one of their bender coasters and are focusing on improving it, rather than ignoring the issue and working on a new addition.
  20. Yeah, but it's not some huge marketing scheme. It's just a few teasers social media at this point. That being said, I would think that a conversion from traditional B&M standup trains to traditional B&M floorless trains would be a little more quiet and possibly teaserless. Hence why I think CP may have something extra up their sleeves or a new style of trains that we haven't yet seen.
  21. The track isn't going anywhere. I can imagine if parks keep arrow loopers and other crapp coasters for as long as they do, a less crappy well built ride like Mantis will be here for a while. My only speculation is that maybe we will see a different type of trains from the traditional floorless train design. At the very least I'm sure it will have B&M's new over the shoulder restraints.
  22. For me, it's Raging Bull. I understand the criticism, but I still love that coaster. I was pretty obsessed over Banshee when I went to KI, too. I used to have a fetish for Mr. Freeze, before it was ruined.
  23. So it looks like we have pathway enthusiasts among us. Wow. (who gives a crap)
  24. *face palm* *face palm* *face palm* The clock has struck 12 again after another nice, but unfulfilling announcement. Speculation of a major steel coaster addition in the near future continues. Does no one else see the irony in this?!?! It would make for great entertainment if it weren't so redundant.
