  1. Has anyone else heard anything more about the possibility of namtab?
  2. Awesome track looks awesome. I think it looks great.
  3. Mild themeing with large beautiful roller coasters. Roller coasters stand alone as something to marvel at. I don't need my roller coasters overly garnished with geeky decorations to make them exciting. I'll save Disney for when I have kids, because all of that BS does nothing for me. For a living I chase crackheads, see dead bodies, and deal with continuous drug addict related BS reports. AKA: There is no such thing as magic. For me, a perfect example of a well rounded experience is King's Island. KI has a good collection of well maintained roller coasters, fresh paint, and decent landscaping priced just high enough to keep the problem crowd out, but low enough to where I can experience the full package without breaking the bank. As for the picturesque roller coaster with just enough themeing without being over the top; think Diamondback. Banshee is neat, but it's pretty much at my themeing threshold. For me, there's nothing like having a few beers and riding quality rides, without feeling like I'm 12.
  4. I liked this park when I went back during Batman's...err.. I mean Goliath's first season. It looks like it's only gotten much better. Even without the new addition it has a pretty solid line-up.
  5. So you're saying they have no passion or enthusiasm about what they do? That's just dumb.
  6. Oh sh*t. I could see this being a good time after way too many beers: http://www.slidethecity.com/events/st-louis/
  7. So are you suggesting B&M should stop catering to its larger market base, the General Public, and make all of their roller coasters to please a small percentage of the population? I don't know about you, but B&M seems to be looking pretty "strong" to me right now. Intamin builds very fun roller coasters, but how many did they build this year? I've been on Goliath and Outlaw Run. RMC makes great coasters, but I'll still take a 200+ foot "Boring" B&M over an over hyped inverted airtime hill or whatever the hell it's called. People don't give B&M enough credit. They are already making unique roller coasters in the fact that they can represent size, speed, and power that everyone can enjoy.
  8. ^No. It's a great smooth coaster, which is why they are closing it.
  9. Roller coaster hobby aids career for the first time: *looks down at the departed* *looks up at the top of the building* "Hmmm... Looks to be about a 200 foot drop." I was pretty close.
  10. Thanks for reminding me why I don't watch animated movies. Best. Job. Ever.
  11. What made this GCI so bad compared to others? What did GCI do differently?
  12. It would probably be full of ESPN frat boy douchers. No thanks. Are you sure they're not just making fun of you?
  13. YES. I'm right there with you, OP. I call my enthusiasm for roller coasters my closet hobby. I'm not your typical enthusiast. I'm a cop for a living, I play a ton of Ice Hockey, and I love fast cars. I'm not a fitness model by any means, but I obsess over fitness and well being and I exercise at least 5-6 days a week. Some of the things I will never see eye to eye on with most other enthusiasts: *Disney doesn't do anything for me. Until I'm in the unfortunate situation of having a small child, I'll never go back to any Disney park. *You will never find me at a park show. EVER. *I like a nice atmosphere, but overloaded geeky themeing does nothing for me. *You will never catch me wearing theme park shirts or hats, but I do buy the occasional coffee cup or shot glass. *I enjoy corporate parks with mediocre themeing, specifically Cedar Fair parks. *And my pet peeve: Even 'good' park food is bad food to me. Not only is it unhealthy, but it's mostly frozen junk loaded with junk carbs. If I'm going to eat like crap, I'm not going to blow my load on park food when I can (and do) leave the park and get chicken wings and beer for the same price as frozen chicken strips and french fries. I've gotten a little flack for my roller coaster hobby, especially from the guys I work with, but for the most part people think it's pretty cool. I have a rule where I never bring up coastering myself. People find out when they ask me where I'm going on my next trip or when a friend will mention it to someone. That usually saves me from being labelled. If people ask about coasters I'll give them information, but most people don't give a crap who makes what coaster or any of the technicalities. I sometimes think it would be cool to get together with a group of guys, have a few beers, and talk coasters. My concern is that I'll be really annoyed if someone gets overly geeked up about the subject. I have a low tolerance for fanboys. As for sharing things with my wife... She will go to the park and have a mostly good time, but her tolerance is low. She tries to care because I care, but mostly she doesn't give a crap about technicalities. I feel like when I show her pictures online, like the toping of Fury325, it only makes her less attracted to me, lol. She's in a similar boat where she loves magic/fantasy type books, movies, and shows (harry potter, lord of the rings, etc), but she doesn't fit the stereotype at all. At least we both have outlier hobbies.
  14. Thanks, man. Luckily all has been quiet on my side of the river, so far.
  15. If they really wanted to keep you banned they could. They are a private business and own the property, so it's their decision. The best thing you could do is what you did do, which is handle it with the business. Any attempt at a civil law claim would be a waste of time. It would have only turned into a criminal matter if they asked you to leave for any reason and you refused to do so. Just FYI
  16. ^That's really the best we can hope for after all of the discussions making it pretty clear that we're not getting the iron horse treatment.
  17. ^ Thanks. I really appreciate that. They called my shift out for tomorrow. Hopefully all will be quiet on our side of the river.
  18. For all of those confident that SF will maintain this ride well, I remember this exact. same. conversation. about Scooby on SFSTL.net. The optimists argued that the ride would be well maintained. Although it was no Castaway Kids disaster, as expected within a couple years the ride followed the typical path of one feature breaking without repair after another. Specifically, I remember people saying, "I wonder how long the turning/spitting/noise making goblin is going to be functional in the queue." I think within the first year the spitting was more like drooling. Then, the turning stopped, but the sound effect of the goblin turning and spinning would still play. I think I saw that thing fully functional only a handful of times. After that, I remember the ride just seemed more dull, because more and more features seemed to be inconsistent or not working at all. People can claim things are changing all they want, but until people actually see those changes last, no one cares. batmanqueuescreamingeaglequeuehannibarrelsbumpercarsmrfreezeanimatronicentranceplazametaldetectorscastawaykidstheboss27yearoldusedboomerangpalacetheaterawesomepaintball I'm really confused. Are we talking about the same company that let Hannibarrels rot in the middle of the park or are we talking about the company that passed down a 27 year old used boomerang? Would you consider SFGAD a neglected park in the chain? I mean sure, they have a hyper, strata, and one of the best coasters in the world. But they have an entire section of the park left to rot and they not only got a hand-me-down stand-up coaster, next year they are getting a Ring of Fire, which is worse than a Boomerang IMO. Every park has off years, we've had more than a few, but in 2015 the park is getting a state of the art attraction and there is no reason to complain about that. Now that you mention it, I've never been to a Six Flags park where I didn't see some kind of neglect. That being said, I think when looking at it from a "lesser of the evils" perspective, Great Adventure would win that battle, too. That's MY job, pal.
  19. I can already hear the terrible background rock music and cheesy voice over of another bad episode of "World's Most Extreme Waterparks."
  20. I'm really confused. Are we talking about the same company that let Hannibarrels rot in the middle of the park or are we talking about the company that passed down a 27 year old used boomerang?
  21. Looking at the complexity of the ride vehicles, this thing will have more down time than Deja Vu.
  22. My guess is that they just wanted to save a little money where they could.
  23. It's never going to happen. The area can't (won't) support it.
