  1. God, I hope it's not a B&M flyer. All flyers make me really nauseous. It probably made more sense to replace Firehawk instead of keeping it and adding another coaster. Operating costs and reliability.
  2. I dream, but it would be cool if it were something other than a cafeteria hall. Although, being a basic bitch American with a Polish ancestry and an Italian last name, when I hear of an Italian restaurant I think of Pizza. And beer. I wouldn't be mad if there was an opportunity to order a decent quality whole pizza to be split among a few people.
  3. I'm with William. If CF is as predictable as they have been since the days of i305 I think a giga is the next logical progression. I hope that's the case. I've been crossing my fingers for a few years. I also wouldn't be shocked if they constructed a dive machine. I'm about 70 giga - 30 dive. I don't believe it will be a wing coaster, but it for sure doesn't seem far fetched. There's some decent terrain if they build it where we think they will build it, so it has the potential to be really interesting. Then again, I hope they don't plop it in a big ugly field away from the park like they did with i305. Just keep it the ffck away from The Beast. It figures all of this will unfold when I'm trying to but a baby all up in dat bish.
  4. I arrested another drug dealer with a Six Flags season pass, tonight. Comforting. I see these all the time when I bring people into jail and inventory their property. There are a lot of people with extensive criminal histories walking around with $50 season passes.
  5. I'm not trying to complain, but I was surprised at how short the ride was after watching the recent POV rendering. It's like Mr. Freeze short.
  6. The crowds are going to be pretty huge I believe. Any time that the kids are out of school outside of the summer (granted, the summer is packed as well) will bring big crowds. Amusement parks tend to live and die by the school calendar. But on the bright side, the park will be fully operational then, so the lines might not be too much longer in terms of actual wait time. And its pretty exciting to watch ride ops in full swing and urgency. Yeah... I know that once school is out parks tend to be more crowded. I also know that when school is in session that parks can also be crowded from school groups, which I would rather avoid. I would imagine that some periods of the month may be worse than others, which is why I'm asking for input from more frequent CP visitors. Thanks. Would you personally rather go on a Saturday and Sunday in the last week of May, or Sunday and Monday, 06/09 and 06/10? Do you think the crowds will be manageable? I would 'guess' they'll be better than around the 25th and 26th of June, when we went during Valavn's first year of operation. I think we may have been at the park on Friday or Saturday, the week before the 4th of July. I can't remember the exact days and dates. I'd rather avoid crowds like that. Thanks for the help, guys. We're bringing two first timers. That being the case, I'm trying to make sure they have a great experience. Thanks for being patient during the dreaded and redundant "Will the park be busy on X day" questions.
  7. I'm still curious if anyone can tall me about how the crowds typically are the weekend after Memorial Day weekend. We're looking to go on the Sunday and Monday after Memorial Day weekend. 06/09 and 06/10. We're going to get FL+ regardless, but I was wondering what kind of use I could somewhat expect to get out of it. I've used FL+ at the end of June, which resulted in sometimes half hour waits. But, I've used it in March where almost everything was walk-on or less than 10-15 minutes. Can I expect something in the middle, or is it going to be typical mid-summer waits where everything will be about a half hour, as it was in late June? I think we even waited 45 minutes to an hour for TTD that year.
  8. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3. Phoenix, Screaming Eagle, Raging Bull 2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018? 6 3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite? Hershey. The sweetest place on Earth. 4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)? N/A 5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018? Phoenix 6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018? First visit to Knoebels: Pork chop on a stick. 7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson? Not a RMC Fanboy. Great Bear 8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019. SFSTL (home) 9. Best ride themed to a bird? Screaming Eagle 10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018? Cedar Creek Mine Ride. 11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride) El Toro 12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to? Copper Head, if we can make it out there. 13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Kentucky Kingdom 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose... I'm not as into Orlando as other coaster fans are. I'd have to say Mako. But, I'm not really an ERT kind of guy. I'm good after a few laps. 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? Never been to Winterfest. 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion? Never ridden Wicker Man. 17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently? SFGam 18. Intamin or Schwarzkopf? You may only choose one. Intamin 19. Battle of Kings Coasters: Island or Dominion? Pick one. Island, any day of the week. 20. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2018? 30 minutes on Goliath at SFGam. Fast passes are where it's at. 21. What roller coaster have you ridden more than any other? Probably B:TR or Mr. Freeze at SFSTL 22. Best drop tower under 150 feet? No favorite comes to mind. 23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more) That's a tough one, but I'd have to pick MF. 24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one. Flumes. 25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides? Beer. Walking around. Taking in the atmosphere/sights. 26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why? Cedar Point. It's a place like no other... 27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit. SFSTL. If you're close. Screaming Eagle. (maybe Mr. Freeze) 28. Launch or Lift? Lift 29. Did you buy fast pass at all in 2018? As many as I could. 30. What is your least favorite wooden coaster? Timber Wolf 31. Disney fanboys: cool or cult? Cult. The fascination with adults and Disney weirds me out. I'll wait until I have a kid to surround myself with cartoon characters. Mickey is also really lame to me. 32. Best Batman themed ride? All B:TR B&M clones. They still kick ass. 33. Name something that tend to take home from parks that you didn't bring with you. Beer burps. 34. Best wooden coaster over 110 feet tall? (rcdb will help you) I clear cut answer was Beast... Then, I read the word 'over.' If we're talking traditional, I'm going with the Boss. Non traditional, Goliath SFGam. 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? I've been to Cedar Point in the summer. Mayflies and gnats. 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. Not for me. If anyone wants to count them, that's their prerogative. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? Nah 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode? B:TR @ SFSTL 39. You can eat nothing but corn dogs, churros or funnel cake for the next 48 hours, which do you choose? Corn Dogs. They offer the most nutritional value. Although, I've probably just due one of my frequent 24 hour fasts. 40. Post a great on-ride shot of you from 2018. (DO IT!)
  9. I don't think the 1972 look is coming back. It looks dated compared to the park's offerings. Not going to happen. Also, the fact that the fake KI giga video has gone viral is hilarious.
  10. *sorry for the double post* We 'WERE' on the fence about going to Coaster Campout, since it's been moved to the weekend before the 4th of July. Coaster Campout is Saturday and Sunday, with Independence day landing on the following Thursday. I think both the weekend before has almost as much potential as being absolutely fffcked (packed) as the weekend after. We went a couple years ago on the Friday/Sat a week or so before July 4th and it we waited 45 minutes for Dragster with FL+. Everything else was 20 or so minutes, but with me being used to KI-Type park FL+ perks, it was kind of a shocker. Emily and I talked it over about maybe going to CP on our own terms in early June. Last year when we went in mid May for Coaster Campout, the longest we waited was about 15 minutes for the top tier rides, using FL+. I'm a spoiled rotten little bitch FL+ user. I want to pay for it. I want to get the most out of it. We've opted for either a Saturday and Sunday, or after brainstorming, maybe a Sunday and Monday. The reasoning is that Emily is going to have to take off two days in each scenario, so why not the days it will be less busy? Coaster nerd common sense will tell you that Sunday and Monday will be less busy. Right, right? My question is that will we be able to get some pretty good use out of our FL+ on a Sunday and Monday the week 'after' Memorial Day weekend? Memorial Day is Thursday (05/31). I know for sure the weekend following Independence Day will be a shit show. We're contemplating going the following Sat (06/08) - Sun (06/09), or the following Sun and Mon (06/10). Looking for some input. We'll be staying at breakers, because as a user stated previously, you can go back to your hotel and take a dump. Maybe even a post dump shower.
  11. I’m with you, but I wasn’t always this way. For me, I guess I just matured into making this hobby something that I completely don’t take seriously. I think there are a lot of us who skip coasters they could care less about, unless it’s completely convenient. I spent two days at Hershey and laugh track was never convenient. I missed an indoor copy of a coaster type that has done very little for me. Big deal. There are a lot of people who don’t really know where they are in their coaster count. If it weren’t for coastercounter.com, I would be clueless. I usually forget to enter my coasters until weeks later. When I hit my 200 I had no idea which coaster it was on, but I know I was at Hershey. It’s neat, but it means nothing. It’s not synonymous with the amount of fun I’ve had during this hobby compared to someone who has hit 300. I always enjoy 2nd day or revisits the most. I like that you’re casual about it. It’s a good thing. No one likes an overzealous hobbyist of any type. Even in ice hockey we laugh at people who take it way too seriously. They’re the dudes who always suck, but they yell coaching advice from the bench. They keep track of how many goals they score in pickup hockey and recreation league sessions. I can imagine how much it must suck to work with a coaster fanboy when you’re a regular guy who makes the mistake of asking them how their trip was or what roller coaster is their favorite. This probably should have been embarrassing. Just reason #1291 not to go to coastermania or hardcore enthusiast events. I was weirded out enough at Coastercampout, but there was little involvement with the group. I don't know, it takes 5-10 minutes or less to drive from an Airbnb in Sandusky to the park. If you have a Gold or Platinum Pass you get the same early entry as the hotel guests. You make rope drop as a non-hotel guest and you'll get very close parking. Walk to the hotel entrance. Not that many extra steps, and you get a much bigger and nicer placer to stay at a small fraction of the cost. But that being said, I certainly support anyone staying on site and supporting the park. I'm not a cheapskate myself, but I appreciate a good deal. If anyone wants to full CP experience I fully support it, and I support people supporting my #1 park in the world. but you can’t just walk back to the room, drop a deuce in a private and clean toilet and be back to your day. that’s the best part for me. LOL Amen to that.
  12. FFFFFccckkkk! Coaster Campout is the weekend before the July, 4th. Last year it was the third week in May, which meant FL+ guaranteed waits under 10 minutes, if not walk-on. It was also great, because we didn't sweat much. That comes in handy when you can't shower. Welp. I guess that's a no-go for us. The timing also doesn't work out with one of our other trips. But damn. We thought it was going to be in May, again. I'm bummed out.
  13. That would suck for everyone if it happened. The FL+ lines at CP are already jam packed without including every guest staying on the Peninsula. It's already been said that Breakers is a great value considering all of the factors and it offers a ton of conveniences. That, and you're going to take away FL+ sales considering at least two factors. 1) You'll get less revenue from the guests who were going to stay at the hotel and also buy the FL+ passes, but now they get it for free. 2) You're going to jam even more people into the FL+ lines, which will make it less appealing and less of a value for everyone else who purchased it. I guess it just really irritates me to read comments like this, because I just feel like where do you draw the line? I think Hyatt hotels should give me a free lunch and free dinner to go along with the already provided good quality breakfast. After that, I think Hyatt should give me a free car to drive around during my stay. After that, I think Hyatt should give me a free massage with a happy ending. Eventually, you have to stop wanting more for your money and realize that in order for awesome places like Cedar Point and Breakers to keep staying awesome they have to have a hefty profit margin to go along with it. Maybe I'm just being too reasonable with my concept of the business/consumer relationship... Dude. It's never ever going to be Las Vegas. Breakers is located in between a beach and a world renowned amusement park. No, it doesn't have Broadway shows, but it has quite a few things to offer. It even included a hint of night life that you assumed it lacked. I really hope you've stayed there before to back up your comments with some experience. I say that not to be a smartass, but I genuinely don't know if you've stayed at Breakers. If you haven't stayed there, maybe you should. I think you'd be surprised and then you'd actually have some experience for comparison. If you have stayed there within the last couple of years, I'm not sure what wasn't up to your standards. I think realistic expectations are long gone. If everyone got what they wished for out of Hotel Breakers, just as an example, they would be outraged at the cost. You wouldn't hear the end of it. I have to drive an hour to a park like SFSTL and I'm still thankful for it. And then I read posts like these...
  14. Dang. I was hoping for a FULL Carowinds renovation. It doesn't look like that's happening.
  15. The backwards train is a reversal on the Six Flags philosophy. Meaning they're going to start out with the ride trains operating backwards. Ten years from now they'll turn the train around facing forward and market it as a new ride.
  16. Hah! I remember that TR, Thrill! That hotel looked ffffed.
  17. Trust me, it can turn into an issue in a heartbeat. The main problem is far from simply getting bitten by very ugly bugs when you sleep. It's the possibility of taking them home where it can really go bad. People with infestations have to get rid of their mattresses and often get new carpet. They can hide anywhere after the infestation takes place, including any crevice or crack. A clever little spot is any nearby electrical outlet. It's very easy to transfer them from one room to another. As far as infestations go, they can be just as difficult to get rid of as cock roaches. There's a lot more to it than feeling uncomfortable knowing something is going to feed on you at night. Use caution. They're much more common than you think:
  18. I didn't think about the new bedding from house keeping. We never strip the bed, we just look under the mattress carefully on all four corners. Sounds like you guys are really thorough in a good way. I'm sure you will run across some eventually. If you're anything like me, it will send chills down your spine.
  19. A warning to all fellow travelers. Always be vigilant and always check. We stay at nice places, with bed bugs being one of the primary concerns. We let our guard down and stopped checking, after always staying at higher end places and never having a bad experience. Our Pensacola Beach $2,500+/week beach front condo this past summer brought our bug free streak to an end, as I woke up at 1 AM and turned on the lights after feeling something crawling on me. I spent the rest of the night washing every shred of clothing I had with me, transferring to a new condo at 3am, and being scared shitless like a little bitch. Even with the new condo and a generous reimbursement, I never ended up feeling comfortable that trip and a few hotel stays after that. It's frightening, because they're easy to bring home unless you do damage control prior to being back home. We went overkill to the extreme on our damage control. I also knew a friend who was involved in the renovation of Breakers, which reportedly had quite a few rooms infested prior to renovation. Always lift that fffking mattress! Everyone seems to have great recommendations, but last year we had a pretty good time staying on the peninsula. It was our best trip to CP, by far. We paid $200 in total for the two of us, including tickets for two days and early admission. Free breakfast, too...
  20. Your guess is pretty close to what I would think it would be, based on being a regular Cedar Fair FL+ consumer.
  21. I'm wanting to say that I've heard a lot of good things about the nearby Super 8. I would suggest staying away from any locally owned hotels. Breakers Express is a good option. The rooms weren't great, but it was a good place to completely pass the FFFF out after two full days at Coaster Campout. Although, even if the room sucked, I think we pretty much died for eight hours that night, anyway. Wherever you choose to stay, just check reviews for any reported bed bug findings, unless you want to take them home with you.
