  1. ^Ah. Fair enough. Oh, that's not the case at all. We had an incredible time! The carefree atmosphere is hard to put into words and I think it's a place you truly have to experience to understand it. It was the most innocent fun I've had in years. Scooters, Phoenix, Black Diamond, Haunted Mansion... so fun! An afternoon refreshing swim and great food. There's really not much to dislike about Knoebels. As far as fascination goes, I just didn't get the hype. Maybe it was because there were some kids just schooling everyone and winning every single prize... It was hard to spend more than a short period of time in there without wanting to go back into the park. I still need to post a short TR.
  2. I just didn't understand the... fascination with this game. We played about ten games, scratched our heads, and left. I completely have no problem with the concept of its popularity being strictly associated with the fact that it's in Knoebels. I can't help but to think that's the case. Knoebels is the good/favored child that doesn't gett into trouble for breaking a window in the garage. Knoebels is the cool kid in school that can walk around with a black eye and get complimented for it. Not hating. Just saying.
  3. That's cool, man. Let us know where you'll be working.
  4. I mean... there are tangible records that can be broken with roller coasters, but is there really a definition for "best?" Isn't "best" all about your preferences? There are a lot of other parks that are in the same coaster lineup ballpark as BGT.
  5. Damn. This thing is taking shape in no time. Coaster construction moves along swiftly when all you need are aluminum ladders and a good set of power tools.
  6. Is the park pretty crowded on the first weekend of the food and wine festival? Will Le Scoot be open this time of year? This will probably be our last trip to BGW for quite a while and it's one of our favorites. It's our fourth visit in the past few years, but we've never been during an event. Will we benefit from getting Quick Queue, or are we talking a complete waste of money? Our max wait time before purchasing fast passes is usually 15-20 minutes. Thanks.
  7. Hah. I figured it had to be a filter. Looked way better in orange, though...
  8. I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know if it was a filter or what. It looks much better in orange than yellow, in my opinion. When I saw the original rendering I thought it was one of the ugliest coasters I've ever seen. I was hoping it would turn out to look much better in reality. That seems to be the case so far.
  9. Cameras can somewhat replace old school elevated guard towers. Either way, cars get broken into everywhere. It's no different from a standard parking garage. Most vehicle burglaries are from unlocked cars from owner stupidity. You'll always get smash and grabs everywhere you go, which would be pretty easy to identify on cameras or by a few extra security staff.
  10. Probably has something to do with the giant yellow roller coaster coming out of the top. Kentucky Kingdom is pretty much a beech bar in the middle of the Midwest that has roller coasters. It's like the cool version of Holliday World.
  11. ^We got lucky in 2015 with our one and only visit. It was operating all day. If they'd just left the temporarily closed sign out front until next season no one would have known the difference. Isn't it part of the themeing, anyway? You wouldn't have had Facebook users demanding their money back for 2019 Season Passes. I wonder when they'll start demolition. Seems like it would be a lot of trouble to save that tired looking volcano. I don't think it'll stay.
  12. Good job, man. Thanks for sharing.
  13. ^FoF is fun. Too many beers prior to riding is dangerous. Same with Verbolten's indoor section. Almost found out the hard way on both. Old school Premier launches are fun. Long live Mr. Freeze. RIP Chiller. I'd agree with those who have said something similar to Copperhead Strike being the most logical replacement for Volcano. That said, I actually think it's premature to talk about it. Based on almost every one of his posts, I'd be surprised if he's been to any parks outside of Tampa, and even that one is pushing it. His title says it all. Prime example: B:TR
  14. I agree. That area is awkward. I'm probably not thinking enough into it, but adding a decent mixture of flats and getting rid of the oddly themed areas would make this area really nice. CF could stick to what they do best, which is clean lines and minimal themeing. I prefer it this way. I'd rather have an area with less personality rather than an area with too many clashing themes. I'm sure KD has plans for this area well beyond my worthless ideas. On an unrelated note, how's KD's alcohol availability? When Emily and I visited several years ago I remember only being able to find one place that served beer. It was located somewhere on the Intimidator/FoF side of the park, IIRC. It was kind of a drab cafeteria restaurant area and you couldn't take the beers outside of the patio. I think they stopped serving pretty early. Emily specifically remembers three things about Kings Dominion. 1) Beer Man sucked. 2) i305 kicked her ass way too much. One and done for her. 3) She liked Volcano. None of these things increase my chances of her not throwing a pity party when I feel the urge to go back. We'll be in DC in May and she's not even considering it an option, especially over BGW being in reach. Looks like Food and Wine festival it is. I'm not mad about that.
  15. Don't worry. They'll cut out any awkward parts and make you look composed. When I was on the news I had to drive a car with a camera pointed 2 feet away from my face, while doing my job... I like public speaking, but felt that it was going to turn out much worse than it did. My point is, don't worry about it. Don't underestimate the power of professional editing. I'm sure you're happy you had the opportunity. I'm looking forward to your video. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Sorry for MY plug. Now, back to the eruption of enthusiast tears.
  16. KI is huge on nostalgia. I love it.
  17. Yeah, I liked Volcano. It was fun, but I didn't get the hype. I probably just didn't ride it enough. Emily really liked it. I actually hope they get rid of the volcano. I think it looks ugly.
  18. We used it in July last year. We walked on every ride. However, be aware that there are only a couple middle rows reserved for the fast pass. I'd go for it will Steel Curtain. I wish I could say how it helped us out throughout the entire day, but after being in the park for a few hours an hour long storm moved in. The park closed for the remaining six hours, despite it being one of the most beautiful evenings of our week long PA trip. Didn't even get to ride Thunderbolt. With that being our one and only experience, we're not big Kennywood fans. $300 down the shitter.
  19. Nice. Looks like the track is almost finished.
  20. I'm glad I had a chance to ride it.
  21. I think 90% of coaster fans won't catch it.
  22. If the theme wants to stay realistic at all "Granny" will keep that plastic wrap on the train and seats .
  23. They've got this. Knoebels will figure it out when the truck pulls up to unload the ride.
  24. I doubt it. Not knocking the park, but I think at this point there is just enough effort put into Mine Train to keep it running and that's where it ends.
