  1. I know last year there was a guy that was at Dorney Park everytime I went and he had a watch that kept track of how many times he rode Hydra. He rode it over 1,500 times. Then on the last day the park was open he bought a shirt and got it signed by all the crew members. Also the most he rode it in one day was 119 times I think.
  2. 2008 - Wooden Coaster - Rumor - (9/18/06) While we’re still waiting for the evenual confirmation that a GCI Wooden Coaster is going into Valleyfair for 2007, Screamscape sources tell us that plans are already in the works to bring something just as special to Dorney Park the next year. I really hope if this does happen that they will build it right. Dorney really needs a great coaster. I'm wondering where they would put it though. Maybe in the area behind Steel Force? Or maybe if they finally do take out Laser and put it there? I guess we will have to wait and see.
  3. Steel Force 2nd to backrow, with some decent airtime.
  4. I really like the view on El Toro. When you go around the turn at the top it really shows how tall Kingda Ka is. I also really like Lightning Racer's (Thunder) view. If you look to your right you see the whole layout and the rest of the park.
  5. ^ I wish I could but I don't have the money to buy a quality camera. Maybe for christmas though.
  6. ^ Yea I know!! If i just waited one minute I would've met the group and got 2 backrow rides on El Toro!
  7. 1. Nitro 2. Hydra: The Revenge 3. Storm Runner 4. Kingda ka Nitro and Hydra's drops have a very similar feeling in the back seat, but that is a good thing because they're filled with airtime. Storm Runner's drop is awsome because you already have airtime entering the drop. Also Kingda ka's drop is great because there's nothing like a 418 foot vertical drop with a twist in it.
  8. ^ It is possible to get on every coaster in the park without a flash pass on a regular day. You can get Nitro, Batman, Skull Mountain, Black Beard's, and Medusa all in the first hour. Then El Toro, Rolling Thunder, Kingda Ka, Superman, and GASM in the afternoon/night (without any breakdowns). And Possibly time to do a re ride or two on a coaster.
  9. Well my sister and I planned this trip at the beginning of summer because she wanted to go to the Smash Mouth concert and I could ride some roller coasters. So anyway, The day started by waking up at 6:30 in the morning, ate some home made waffles, and took a shower. We got ready and we were on the road at about 8:00 am. It took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there. We pull into an empty parking lot and were through the metal detectors by 10. Then we went to the bathroom and we were ready for an amazing day! First ride of the day is Nitro! It was a walk on 8th row. Awesome drop, great floater air over the hills, and the helix was intense. After the first amazing ride we had to ride it again. This time we rode front row with a 4 train wait. Another awesome ride! Now Nitro was running 3 trains with almost no stacking. As soon as the train on the lift went down the first drop the next train was being dispatched. The crew was great! Next ride we went on Batman: The Ride. It was a backrow walk on and there were only 5 people on the train including us! It was just as awesome as it was earlier in the year. But Batman's crew was so slow! The were running about 5 minute intervals. So after Batman my sister wanted to see where the concert was going to be held so we walked over to Northern Star Arena. After I showed her where it was we went on Medusa. Medusa was a walk on backrow. This ride is awesome, so smooth, fast, and long! It's so much better then Hydra. Then we walked across the bridge and got in line for El Toro! My sister got out of line after about 5 minutes because her asthma was getting to her so she sat down near the entrance. It was a full que but only took 45 minutes to get on, not including a 15 minute break down. So after a 60 minute wait I was on backrow on El Toro! This ride is just great! The ride starts by FLYING up the cable lift hill, then down the first drop and I got amazing ejector air . After the amazing drop we go over 2 camelbacks with crazy ejector air on both. The turnaround was awesome as were the next 2 hills. Then you bank almost 90 DEGRESS and get the most insane ejector air ever on the hill over Rolling Thunder. The twister section fast and fun as well. This is now my all time favorite coaster. Too bad the crew was as slow as everyone says it is 4-6 minute intervals. After El Toro we got lunch at Nathan’s, which was really good. Rolling Thunder was next up but after we waited in line for 10 minutes and the line only moved because people were leaving it we left. So we went over to Skull Mountain. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for Skull Mountain. We got last row of the second to last car. The drop was the only good part. We wouldn't have waited that long for it if we new the line was that long, but you can't really see how long the line is. Since Nitro is right around the corner from Skull Mountain we went on that again. The line was right to the switchbacks but they were not being used. It was a 20 minute wait for 4th row. Once again an awesome ride with great airtime. After that I dropped my sister off at the concert because she wanted to be in the front row of it. After I dropped her off I re rode some more rides until 8:30. I then went to the front of the concert to meet my sister, but she told me to go ride what ever and give her a call back when I'm done. A minute after I left the manager of Smash Mouth came out of the concert. My sister recognized him from a message board that she goes on for Smash Mouth. He also recognized her, so he asked her if she wanted to go on the bus with them. So she went on Smash Mouth's bus and got all sorts of autographs and pictures. Then she got to go up the exit for El Toro and got 2 straight rides on it without getting off! After that we met up and she told me this and I couldn't believe it. But I was pissed cause she got 2 exit pass rides on El Toro. This was defiantly a great day though. Notes: Kingda Ka closed all day with a fence and security guard in front of it. Freefall closed all day. Every ride running 2 trains except Nitro with 3 trains. Nitro's crew was amazing! Longest line was El Toro 1 hour 45 minutes (including a 25 minute breakdown) Ride Counts: Nitro x5 El Toro x2 Medusa x2 Batman x1 Skull Mountain x1 SpongeBob x1
  10. Yea I hope the lines aren't bad. I think running one train for the regular line for Ka is the stupidest thing ever! Ecspecially since their only running 2 train when they could be running 4! Also great pictures! I enjoyed looking at all of them!
  11. Great trip report! It sounds like you had a great time. I'm going on the 9th (next Saturday) and I hope the crowds are similar. I can't wait to see those pictures if you post them. Aslo was Kingda ka running one train to flash pass and one to the regular line or were you allowed to go on whatever train you wanted?
  12. I know that is your opinion and I'm fine with that, but I think you probably just rode it on a bad day or something. Next time your in the area you should give it another chance because it's definantly one of the smothest rides out there IMO. There's only 2 spots on Talon that I ever black out on and they are the vertical loop and the first helix. I'm telling you this because I go there usually 2 or 3 times a month and I've been on it over 125 times in the last 2 years.
  13. I prefer a forceful ride rather than a floaty one. That's why I like Talon more than Hydra. ^ I don't see why your saying Talon is so intense that it's not fun. I think it could have more forces IMO.
  14. ^ Yes thank you that helps me out ALOT!! About the picture thing would I be able to use my Dorney Park season pass picture, or school ID picture?
  15. It was closed all day when I went on tuseday 8/15. I really hope it's not getting taken out cause it's a classic.
  16. I also have a couple questions but its for a regular flashpass. 1. I'm 14 years old and do I need to show them and ID or something? 2. Am I too young to get a flash pass? 3. If I am too young would my 18 year old sister be old enough to buy one? 4. Can I pay with cash? 5. Do I need to give them something of value to them for the flash pass and then when I return it at the end of the day I would get it back? I know I'm forgetting a question but if I remember I'll post it later.
  17. For me I prefer launch coasters to ones with lift hills. I just love the feeling you get when you launch down a track at very high speeds in a couple seconds. But no launch coasters will never take over lift hills. 2 launch coaster per park would be perfect for me IMO.
  18. My favorite is talon because it has such a great layout and has great forces. I don't get why people say talon is forceless. 1. Talon: The Grip of Fear (Dorney) 2. Batman: The Ride (GADV) 3. Great Bear (Hershey) 4. The Great Nor'Easter (Morey's)
  19. Yea I could smell the chocolate but it wasn't a strong smell just a hint of it.
  20. ^ Yea I'm pretty sure I saw some pins in the Chocolate World but I'm not positive. I'm sure they would have some in the gift shop inside the park as well.
  21. Yea I was a little mad that Sooperdooperlooper was closed but I didn't let it bother me cause Hershey has so many other great rides. I also did really enjoy Wildcat but I just wish it was a little less rough. Also could someone tell me how to give credit when I quote someone, because I can't figure it out.
  22. Well I already knew about the zoo because I used to go in it when I was little, but I didn't feel like going to it when I was there. I did go over it while on the monorail, if that counts.
  23. ^ Yea I always thought Lightning Racer was going to be a smooth as glass ride but it's not. It is still very smooth for a wood coaster though.
