Disneyland Paris (DLP) Discussion Thread
rcjp replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey there, I'm planning to do a trip to Disneyland in April (a week before Easter) and I want to decide exactly when to go. Technically I could go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. I know Saturday would be the worst in terms of crowds but, for other reasons, it would be the most convenient for me. So my question is, for those who visit the park more or less often, how bad is it? Is it "impossible" or just a bit worse than a Friday (for example)? -
I'm also getting that "forbidden" message on firefox

^They definitely still are. However, even though we have seen a few coasters break inversion records recently I'd say most modern coasters tend to feature more of a mix between inversions, airtime hills, twists and turns and so on. Which is definitely not bad. I love rides like helix which, despite having quite a lot of inversions, manage to throw a few other types of elements in there (like airtime moments). I'm interested in finding out how steel curtain curtain turns out because, in my opinion, it's the only coaster in a few years that manages to have a lot of inversions without basically being two rides glued together (like Smiler) or having 5 of the same inversions (like the intamins)

Speak for yourself. You can keep those floaty barrel rolls or whatever. I'll take Kumba's zero G roll that tries to kill everyone on the train over any inversion I've ever experienced on any coaster ever. It's ridiculous. Haha agree. While I haven't been on kumba I've ridden dragon Khan and its zero g roll is by far my favourite. It's ridiculous how close you get to the actual upside down bit before even starting to twist. And then you're violently thrown around while floating out of your seat at the same time. Overall I agree that's it's just the park's choice. I personally really like multi inversions coasters but if that's not the case with the majority of park guests then it's not worth building one

I also knew it was close but not actually that close. Looks like really cool and useful idea. Hope the project goes forward. -

It still amazes me how they seem to be building these huge rides in such a short time interval as if it was nothing. The layout looks great. I don't think it has anything that we haden't seen before on an RMC but that's not bad at all given how awesome their rides are (at least the ones I've been to). This might be a good opportunity for me to finally try an "original" wooden RMC as I've only ridden hybrids. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Stunt Fall at Parque Warner Madrid for some reason this is always the last coaster I ride at this park -

Nice report(s)! (I only had time to catch up now) And yes, we did suffer at Busch Gardens because of the weather. While we can't complain because, overall, it was pretty good for the trip (almost no rain) it was almost unbearable that day and I also felt like I needed a shower very badly when we got back to the hotel. -

Cool pics! Did you notice all the lightning around that area during ERT on twisted timbers? I was surprised that it was open given that a few days before pretty much all coasters at Carowinds closed due to thunderstorms being close even though I actually saw nothing. -

Nice It was actually great fun! Especially with the operator shouting during the ride -

Great report and YES, I also loved the Blackberry Cider The other thing I quite liked during this visit was the most enthusiastic rip op ever (who was running the teacups) vlc-record-2018-08-29-23h41m32s-2018-07-27 13.43.37.mov-.mp4 -

Great report! I still can't really believe how we managed to hit so many rides given that they pretty much closed everything twice while we were there (if I remember correctly). And the takeover on Woodstock Express was pretty amazing I got a lot more airtime in the back than I expected which was quite scary as I'm relatively sure I could easily come out of those restraints if I wanted to. -
Which Coaster Gives The Best AIRTIME???
rcjp replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me it's still Skyrush. And after learning a riding technique which saves me from the terrible pain the ride used to give me it's even more enjoyable! -

Great report and really glad to know Hyperion lives up to the hype! I definitely have to visit this park but maybe I'll wait for the RMC and vekoma launched coaster or whatever it is. It's amazing how fast this park is growing. -

Wow that's really unfortunate.. I thought this was the kind of thing that only happened to guests and not actually workers -

So here's what I think about the ride (as I hadn't commented yet). I rode it not long after my first two RMCs (twisted cyclone and twisted timbers, which I loved) and so I was basically expecting a taller, faster and longer version of those with more or less the same level of intensity. My first ride was in the afternoon in the front row and it honestly was a bit disappointing. There was airtime all over the place, no doubt about that, but it just didn't feel anywhere near as intense as the other two. It didn't help that the MCBR was braking fairly hard. I thought this was because I had extremely high hopes (I kind of was expecting it to be my no one ride) but then these expectations had also been set by other much smaller RMCs and not just my excitement. Later that day we had ERT on it (thanks to an amazing TPR tour) and it was running much better: it was fast, smooth, intense, twisty and the MCBR was barely on! This really made a huge difference. So, all in all, it's definitely an amazing ride under any circumstances but even though those amazing night rides made me think this could be my favorite coaster I can't really say that given that it's only "that good" sometimes (when the MCBR is on I actually prefer Maverick, for example). So I'm really curious about what will happen when they start running three trains (assuming they will) and how consistent this ride becomes. -

Great POV despite the not so great coaster, to say the least It was only my second SLC and the other wasn't too bad (Blue Tornado at Gardaland). This one made me wish it was over, though.. -

Wow this ride kind of looks like it was a kid's dream made in NoLimits but in a good way, with all its amazing stats and very unique support structure. Can't wait to see how it turns out. -

That happened to me when I went to Six Flags Great Adventure six (!!!) years ago. I was afraid that the phone of the woman who rode next to me on El Toro would come out and smack me in the face Fabio-style. I have actually been hit in the forehead by coin or two on one of nitro's airtime hills. It wasn't pleasant, but at least it was just one and not all the six or seven the flew out of this guy's pocket. -
I remember seeing some older POVs and thinking that it did indeed look fairly unique and while some rides are better than others on this aspect, there are many coasters which, after one initial ride to “detect” each critical point, can be enjoyed much better. I’ve never been on a Togo but I’d certainly like to try one just for the experience, some day.
