  1. I am going with Gatekeeper. I enjoyed Wild Eagle, so I anticipate that I will also enjoy this experience. Of course, I will very likely rank it below Maverick, Millennium Force, and TTD. I also like how CP integrated this ride with a redeveloped front entrance. It should produce some awesome "fly-overs" during the day. Comparisons aside, I am also looking forward to YOLOcoaster (ahem, Full Throttle ). Since I should first ride this at WCB '13, I am little more excited about YOLO! than I figured.
  2. El Toro is obviously a fantastic ride. If only I lived closer to Jackson, NJ.
  3. I actually had an incredible pain-free ride experience last year. That said, I am a little cautious to re-ride this if there any significant changes.
  4. The station, at least inside, looks similar to the X-Flight station.
  5. Illinois Indiana Wisconsin Michigan Ohio Pennsylvania Kentucky Iowa Missouri Minnesota Tennessee New York New Jersey California Nevada Arizona Montana New Mexico Texas Florida Georgia South Carolina Virginia West Virginia Washington Oregon Utah Colorado South Dakota North Dakota Idaho Maryland Oklahoma Massachusetts
  6. I waited three hours to ride Batman at SFGA during its opening year.
  7. After seeing the "licensed" Disney characters, I thought for sure TPR went back to China.
  8. I really hope it's ready by then since I am visiting the park in August. More seriously, at least it is another credit.
  9. This coaster looks awesome. I-Rat and Outlaw Run? This is going to be one incredible coaster summer.
  10. Do I really want to wait until August to ride this? I suppose I will need some patience. In any case, the ride looks awesome! I am really looking forward to Texas/Midwest.
  11. ^^^ I would agree with El Toro and Sky Rush.
  12. I really like this addition by Cedar Fair. Now, if CF could install some better woodies at their other parks.
  13. ^^^I think it depends upon the old (ahem, "new") Kentucky park's attractiveness. Holiday World seems to capture the family market. If the park can appeal to families, I think it can be competitive with HW. Now, will that happen? At this time, we can only speculate.
  14. Since the state owns the land and the infrastructure is already there, the lease makes sense. The Hart-backed group did not have to outright purchase and develop/redevelop any land. Of course, they will need to update and rehab park areas, rides, etc. In fact, I wonder what the land valuation for this space is even with the current market. There is also the tax-benefit of leasing land, especially that state-owned. Last, the term and surrender clause is typical for this lease. If the park is able to generate revenue, both sides will benefit (a no brainer). However, given that the state owns the land, they have far more capacity to leverage a deal that works for them. But, time will tell whether the park will attract people. I also hope they install the $15 million dollar roller coasted mentioned by some media outlets so we have a new credit to go after.
  15. This will be my final submission,
  16. This will be a fine way to start Texas/Midwest!
  17. If Six Flags acquires the SeaWorld parks, we can definitely expect more concrete, parking lot-located exhibits, and maybe even a "new" Boomerang!
  18. Last summer, a random man commented that he liked my Great Bear t-shirt. He later asked me, "which Native American tribe is that"?
  19. Before the internet, there were obviously fewer ways to communicate. In fact, how did groups interact with their members? Since enthusiasts are a rather small total of amusement park attendees, there are arguably a few enthusiast boards, groups, clubs, etc. that will capture this niche market. There may have been too many forums, etc. for the number of enthusiasts. Additionally, those that have survived and/or thrive are able to offer products and services (information, events, tours) that others cannot provide. TPR is one of those that offers many benefits to its members and registered users. That said, here we are enjoying this great no-cost forum, trips, bashes, park index, etc. It also has about 40,000 registered people, yet has a much smaller feel (which I also enjoy). I also think it is somewhat difficult to estimate the number of enthusiasts by the number of boards. One, there are some people who "lurk" and prefer their anonymity. Two, some people might use other ways to get their info e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Three, competition has produced proverbial "winners" and "losers".
