  1. ^ The second raven turn on X2 is my least favorite part of the ride. While I've had a few "rough-ish" rides on X2, I will continue to say that X2's new trains have smoothed out the overall ride over the old ones on X. Ninja is indeed a great ride at night. My first ever ride on a suspended coaster was on Ninja at night and was so crazy that I rode it three more times after that. That was when it first opened in 1988. Eric
  2. No. Would you expect a person who's had the same cell phone since 2005 to get the latest gadget? Do you change your own oil?
  3. ^ We have a B&M Beauty Supply here in town. I should get a picture and post it here. Eric
  4. Right now, having seen the ride in that condition, scrapping it seems like about the only option left. It looks too corroded to restore to operating condition. I'm glad I got to ride it when it was at SFMM back in the '80s. How's the other one up in Canada doing these days? Eric
  5. I wonder how bad Friday nights are? Being that I'm kinda busy these days, I may try to get out to the park after work, and I get off at 6. If they continue to stay open till 11, that'll work out OK. Eric
  6. I actually gave some thought to going because I haven't been for awhile. But if it's as crazy as Elissa said, then I'll pass. Eric
  7. I noticed nothing was said about Percy and wondered about it, but figured that since it is a many-times renamed/rethemed coaster, and not a new one, no mention of it was necessary. Which made me think about 2001 when the park supposedly got "three" new coasters. Deja Vu and X were new, but Goliath Jr. was just the third theme for that old Bradley and Kaye kiddie coaster (which supposedly dates back to 1947---I read somewhere that Newhall Land & Farming and SeaWorld bought it from an old L.A. area kiddieland when the park was being built). Eric
  8. ^ This is the second forum I've seen that on, so it must be true. AND WHO AM I TO DOUBT AN INTERNET FORUM? Eric
  9. ^ If Tidal Wave is removed, they'll theme the area as Davey Jones' L.o.c.k.e.r (without the periods, of course. ). Funny, I was at SFMM last month and could have sworn I saw the Gotham City Backlot sign still there. But maybe I've become so accustomed to seeing it that I assumed it was there when in fact it was gone. Eric
  10. What I find funny about the Fabbri model is its two-stage lift hill---halfway up one hill, a 90* left turn, then up the other half. My guess is that it saves some space? What made me laugh the time I rode Pole Position was how the carny operating it told me that "this Italian coaster is far better than the German ones." That was pretty...WTF?!? Eric

^ I think all you have to do is quote the post and write "QFHT" under it. (That means "Quoted for hardcore truth"). Eric
  12. ^^ Butler Amusements---that's the company I couldn't remember. Their midway pales to the RCS ones in the past. And we don't get the Hi-Miler anymore, either. We also used to get a Looping Star once in awhile. I'd like to give a Maurer Sohne spinner a try sometime. A few years ago, I did ride Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom, but can't remember who made those two rides (I think Reverchon). Eric
  13. ^ This "new" themed area could be a Gotham City makeover in the works. It wouldn't be a bad idea to freshen up that area a bit---perhaps even merge the so called Movie District (where Riddler's Revenge is) with Gotham City and create a huge superhero area. With Tidal Wave's rumored demise in the near future, that area and the former Freefall area could open up some possibilities with the available space there. Eric
  14. "But what has actually made WCB special these past few years is the 'once in a lifetime opprotunity' to get those backstage construction tours and some behind the scenes insight as the rides are going up." (Robb) Sorry about that---my bad. I wasn't even thinking about ride construction photo opportunities. Eric
  15. ^ There's also one that appears each year at the Ventura County Fair with whichever company does the midway there now. I rode it in 2006 one time and haven't been back on it since. They call this one "Pole Position." Eric
  16. ^ If WCB is held in March (as is tradition), I doubt if any of these rides will be open yet. Eric
  17. Maybe when I go to bed tonight I'll count sheesh. Eric
  18. ^^ To be honest, I don't think Superman will be going any faster unless there are changes to its launch system. It takes a lot of power to get the cars up to 100mph. As for the height limit, I hope it's 48" and not 54". These new restraints appear to be like the ones on other Intamin coasters that have 48" height limits, so I'd guess that will be the case. I was thinking about SFMM earlier and wondering about the flip-flopping of attractions at the last minute as of late. New coaster going in this year next to Deja Vu. No, wait, postponed till next year and now will be installed on the opposite side of the park from its original site---after land clearing has already been done, and will have a different name and theme. We all know that the parks read Internet forums, and I got wondering how much influence does that have on the decisions that are made? (The near-relocation of Demon Drop to Knott's was a good example.) I think it's a great idea to have a small ride or two close to the big ones. That helps to distribute the crowds more and gives Junior something to ride while Big Brother/Sister go ride the big ones. Awhile ago, I watched the promotional video for SFMM 2011 again, and I do look forward to riding The Green Lantern and Superman---Escape From Krypton. Definitely two solid rides. Hopefully something nice is waiting for 2012. Eric
  19. ^^ When did they start making cups out of fruit? Eric
  20. Since the land was cleared for the roller skater---and it apparently isn't going there anymore---I wonder what will or could go there? The beginnings of the 2012 attraction perhaps? Eric
  21. I find it kind of funny that Six Flags is making such an "epic announcement" when the news is already out there---and has been for awhile. Unless, of course, there are other things that we don't yet know about... Eric
  22. I have to agree with Robb on the "kiddie coaster" location. Next to Deja Vu was the right place because while the "big kids" ride Deja Vu, the young 'uns could ride the kiddie coaster. Years ago, there was the Speedy Gonzales ride right across from Viper, which was a good idea. Sierra Falls is a fun little ride, but if they moved it to Hurricane Harbor, I don't think it would be missed. Depending on what's on the other side, they could just turn it 180* and have it in Hurricane Harbor. Eric
  23. Interesting...I would guess that if the park was going to paint the brakes they would have either masked the brake pads or removed them beforehand. Eric
  24. ^ I haven't yet ridden 96 coasters in my entire life, let alone the last year. Eric
