PortAventura Discussion Thread

Looks good, but I really hope it breaks in because it seems to be crawling over the hills and by the time it gets to the breakrun it seems to only just make it. -
I have to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with it being rethemed to DC comics as over half the parks rides are now DC, including all the major coasters bar Scooby. However, there aren't many Warner Bros franchises that would've worked as most are cool but a bit dated (e.g Matrix), and DC comics are timeless. Also, I agree all the parks seem to be improving somewhat after TPR leave haha. Movieworld got a new coaster, a revamped coaster and a soon to be announced dark ride, Dreamworld got a new coaster and even Aussieworld are expanding with a new DiskO and Flume ride, and unannounced $1million ride. When TPR come back I'm hoping they will also be able to ride Australia's first B&M. I can dream

Its a shame to hear bad things about Fuji-Q as they seem to have a good collection of coasters - Takabisha especially looks awesome. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

^ Yep, my mum knows nothing about coasters but she knows the "cart" won't fly off and kill her. Found this on the Leviathan POV 186mph? Come on, even my Mum shook her head at that one. I can understand someone seeing a coaster that's big and fast and assuming it has a high top speed, maybe 100mph, but 186 is just incredibly unrealistic. -
Mine is because Superman Escape is currently my favorite coaster. Once I visit UK this June my favourite coaster, and therefore my avatar, will probably be changed to Nemesis.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

I think as others said we're really only pissed off by the completely stupid remarks. Remarks that aren't due to a lack of coaster knowledge, but a lack of common sense. I also hate when people compare two coasters simply because theyre both inverted or both launch ect or that a ride sucks because it doesnt have teh loop de loops. One of my pet peves is when a GP acts like they know everything about coasters. Like when someone comments on a POV that TPR posted and say "omg dis is (coaster at park) not (actual coaster in video) u retard" or "y did u say loop de loop thats a corkscrew idiot" -

Nemesis - really only 3gs?
australianalex replied to caffeine_demon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh ok, interesting information. BTW that thing about I305 pulling 6g was something I heard somewhere. I hope this isn't incorrect too but isn't the only operating coaster that actually pulls 6g that Tower of Terror deathtrap in Gold Reef City? I heard that too pulled around 6g but that may have just been another dodgy internet fact. -

is stupid by itself, but some of the comments are possibly even stupider. For people who can't be bothered clicking the link, its a POV of Goliath at SFMM titled "Biggest coaster drop in the world" -
Nemesis - really only 3gs?
australianalex replied to caffeine_demon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess so...thats a hell of a lot of gravity on one body, but from the tales of nemesis, i think its safe to say it pulls a helluva lot more than 3... I guess the 6g bit would be so quick that it'd be unnoticeable judging by the chart, unlike I305 which sustains 5-6g in its first turn if I'm correct. -

By that chart, they both spike at 6g? -

I think the idea is fairly good, but the article is so stupid. Even more hype for Thorpe Parks terrifying and extremely forceful B&M that you'd assume they have. -

I have to say, Dragon Khan's trains dont look so bad now that theyre running on the track. As someone previously said, they do look quite "glamorous" like a Chinese dragon. -
