  1. Which is a good thing! Replace it with something good.
  2. I'm reading "Moby-Dick." I'm about halfway through and really enjoying reading it, though it is pretty darn long. I'm not sure what I'll read after that.
  3. Go to the aquarium!
  4. I love it when people scream on rides but only if it's genuine. I like it when people scream heading down drops and in loops. Too many of my friends are coaster nerds who don't make a peep on rides anymore, so hearing a genuine scream is fun. But I don't like obnoxious screaming for screaming's sake. Some idiots were doing that behind me on Voyage once, and I had to plug my ears the entire ride.
  5. It's probably not going to be anything exciting. Everyone expecting a GCI with a splashdown underground finale is going to be disappointed. My guess: An upgraded bathroom. Oh, and if they build a ride on that island spot, it'll be a flume. A couple of tunnels, big drop and splash at the end.
  6. They're just pulling your leg!
  7. It definitely went away for me, and it's a little sad. I experienced it on my first couple of rides of the season on Raptor until about 2005, and I felt it on my first 10 or so rides on Maverick in the back seat. Now I don't feel it on anything.
  8. Seriously, they're just messing with us. Togo? I guess no one bit that the park is going to take King Cobra and put it on the Millennium Force island.
  9. I'm drinking a Skinny Dip right now and spending a Saturday night in the summer alone.
  10. Knoebels bit off more than it can chew with this project.
  11. D'oh. You're right. I haven't been following the clues. But if it's Splashin' Safari, Holiday World seems to be looking to build the biggest outdoor water park at an amusement park ever. But what else is there to add? There's a Proslide Tornado thing, two of those play areas with buckets, water slides and a wave pool. Maybe a Master Blaster?
  12. In sticking with the Thanksgiving and Voyage theme, I'd say it'll be Santa Maria. That's 10 letters.
  13. This is the strangest review of The Beast's ending I've read. You don't consider the helix the ending? The turn, drop and rise into the brakes aren't the ending. The helix is. What's Voyage's finale? A turn into the brakes? Because I consider it maybe the two twisting hills, two tunnels and the turn into the brakes. That I find spectacular. I also like Raptor's corkscrew into the double helix. For mine, as dull as I feel The Beast is, that ending is still pretty amazing. The helix -- yes, I consider that the ending -- is the most out of control ending on a wooden coaster I've experienced. And I've gotta go with either Adventure Express or Six Flags Magic Mountain's Ninja having the lamest finale. Bleh. A lift hill into the brakes! Oooh.
  14. Either path you take, you're going to hit every ride. And because you're going two days, you could take the second day to reride your favorites. Have fun. Be sure to write a trip report.
  15. I knew that's what this post would be. Sorry. I was busy with work, and I went to the zoo on my day off yesterday. Just trying to get my eyes off the computer. I'll post a review shortly. Here's my review: The first half of the ride is pretty good. It's fast paced, has good changes in direction and is a little disorienting, mostly because of the walls. Sometimes I didn't know what direction I was facing. But the ride slows down after the block brake. The layout's not much after that, and I didn't find that ending loop thing interesting. As I mentioned before, you should make the LIM sections brakes with the brake part invisible. That works better and prevents E-stop failures. In that same vein, you should remove the brakes in the stations and maybe the block before the stations. These types of rides only use brakes at the end of the ride or in block sections. The stations are only tire driven, and the brake segment before the station probably could just be tire driven. The uphill brakes are just weird. Brakes and tires? That's unusual. It might have been better as a lift hill. There are a few minor bumps and pumps, notably in the second inversion. Lastly, you did a pretty good job on supports, but there were a few parts that were seriously inadequate. I have attached two as images. The one not pictured is in your overbanked turn after the Immelmann. Overall, 6/10. This support in the Immelmann won't hold it up. Customizing supports is a challenge, and these couple of supports can't hold up. You should try different approaches. I know there's track below it that gets in the way, but just attaching a super long support won't solve the problem. That support juts way too far out. The little lateral support isn't enough. With the speed the car goes through it, it would bend or break. You could have worked around this problem.
  16. It's not upcharge. You're thinking of the name of tickets after 5 p.m., which is called Starlight. That's just to get into the park. For the Starlight Experience along Frontier Trail, it's free.
  17. I doubt they're brown recluses. They're called "recluse" for a reason. They don't really hang out in the open. In my years of working and visit the park, I'd never seen a terrible infestation of spiders. I have seen bad webs when people don't clean them daily, but I've never seen what you describe. Do you have any pictures?
  18. Who cares? Let's get back to talkin' about the park.
  19. It's free. There are courtesy phones located around the peninsula. One's at Pet Check, one's at the marina, one's by Rip Cord at Challenge Park, and I think there's one by Sandcastle Suites. Just pick it up, and they'll help you out. There's no schedule for the things, they just run when you call or if there's someone waiting when they're dropping someone off. Or you could just go in the main gate and push through the crowds.
  20. Those are kind of difficult rides to hit in that order. They're all in different areas of the park. Do you know what entrance you're going to use? I'd say your best order is Maverick, TTD, MF and then Raptor. But visit Raptor in the afternoon because the line will have died way down by then. It's hard to say how long the lines are. It's summer, so the park's usually busy anyway. But the economy also might be hurting the place. I haven't been this season, but I visited more than 100 times in 2007 and 2008, so I'm fairly familiar with it. The 16th will probably be your best bet. Sundays at the park are great days to visit. Unless it's a three-day holiday weekend. Then Monday's the best. But you should be fine. I'd suggest starting at the resort entrance by Magnum and TTD. You can take a park shuttle there (there are phones to call them located around the peninsula. Look on a map), or you can park in the Soak City lot. Once the gates open, head to Maverick. When you're at TTD, the queue forks on the ramp leading up to the station. Go to the left. That line moves faster because it isn't as congested. For MF, the line moves pretty fast. Even if three queues are full, you're probably not going to wait more than an hour. What else do you want to know?
  21. Woo hoo! Honorable mention! That picture of Maverick was probably the best photo I took in 2008. Thanks to everyone who voted. Edit: Psst. You spelled my name wrong. It's Chihak.
  22. Before I give a review and rating, I want to offer the advice of changing the LIMs on the crazy loop to brakes instead of transport. If you check "Hide Brake-Device," it'll just show the magnets. And if you E-stop, it won't be affected. The same goes for the launch segment. I feel it makes it a bit easier to prevent a rollback, and it can prevent collisions.
  23. NoLimits already sort of has that. All the B&Ms, the Gerstlauers. A wider variety would be great, and I'm sure that's coming. But I don't really see how it'd be much different.
  24. That doesn't belong in this thread. That's not weird nor does it really fit with the GP. Parents will do that anywhere. To contribute: When I would visit Cedar Point nearly daily, I'd sometimes sit back and listen to people in line. I was slightly amused when they'd get the facts wrong on Dragster even when they're pretty much spelled out in those signs in the line. They're right there. Or just listen to the ride host.
  25. The last beer I had was Shiner Bock, and that was a couple of weeks ago. I need to buy more. I also had Skinny Dip.
