  1. These Gravity Group woodies have such an elegance to them. This one is beautiful! We need more of these in the U.S.!
  2. ^Same here. I rarely get neck chopped on Maverick, because I find myself leaning into turns without reminding myself to do it. The only time I got neck-chopped hard was on my very first ride coming out of the launch, and it was because I wasn't expecting that quick a transition so fast, but since then, I just anticipate it, and I'm fine. I'm just naturally a more defensive rider, and that probably comes from growing up riding a lot of rougher-than-average coasters haha. Maverick is still not only favorite coaster at Cedar Point, but it's also my #1 steel. I can't get enough of it. It's got great airtime, sick twists and turns, and great pacing in the layout. I can't stop laughing by the end.
  3. Started working on a recreation of some of Kings Island's coasters. I'm not taking it too seriously, so it'll just be the coasters with some basic scenery. In this shot you can see Racer, Vortex, and Beast. Later I'll add Diamondback and maybe Adventure Express and Banshee. Should be fun.
  4. I recently went mountain biking at a park about 20 mins from my house in Middle Tennessee. MTB is one of my favorite activities that can substitute coaster riding (even though I'm not that good at it ). In fact, one of the trails at the park was called Wabash Cannonball in homage to Opryland. It was a really great freeflow trail that had a lot of hills, tabletops, berms etc. It really felt a lot like a coaster!
  5. I don't count, but I would say most of the coasters at Kings Island like Diamondback, The Beast, The Racer, Vortex, Adventure Express, The Bat, and Flight of Fear. As well as SFOG coasters like Georgia Cyclone, Scream Machine, Mind Bender, Batman, and Goliath. I've been going to these two parks every year since I was a little kid. They're my second and third homes.
  6. It was only a matter of time since they closed the Tiger side. This thing was terrible on my visit, but at least I was able to get both credits!
  7. Looks sick! I'm excited to play around with this new style!
  8. Nope. Not embarrassed in the slightest. Pretty much all my friends and family (especially) highly respect me for my huge passion for theme parks. All they see is a guy with a really cool and unique passion. Everyone has their niche. Ours just happens to be the amusement industry. However, I'm not so cocky about theme parks that I shove my love down people's throats. I usually only bring it up in conversation if someone else does first, or asks me what my biggest passions are. One thing that I intentionally stopped doing years ago is correct false statistics blurted out by someone else talking about a favorite ride of theirs. I found that it was really rude and made me look like a know-it-all jerk. That's the only thing that ever embarrassed me about this hobby before.
  9. That definitely looks like the base for Sparkler.
  10. All I see when I look at the speakers are big ugly headrests that screw up the aero dynamics of the train. I feel like the trains would run faster without them.
  11. From that vantage point, Thunderbird looks HUGE, which is awesome!
  12. From somebody who visits Kings Island all the time, Invertigo can fall into this category. That ride is very intense and disorienting to the point of extreme dizziness. It's one of the few coasters that can make me really nauseous on a bad day. The g-forces on that thing are really strong, and the head banging makes it too much to handle. I only ride it when it has a station wait, which is really rare. I'll agree about Voyage, even though it's my favorite roller coaster. I love it's intensity and aggressiveness, and how it packs so much into one ride, but it's because of that aggressiveness that I can only ride it 2 or 3 consecutive times before needing a break. I think my record is 5 or 6 during Holiwood Nights 2013. That was a crazy night haha.
  13. What's even more frustrating is that SFMM now has one (and soon to be two) coasters with inversions that run with lapbars. Now Full Throttle and Twisted Colossus both have shin bars along with the lapbars, and it wouldn't surprise me that in the case of a train conversion on Revolution, shin bars and seat belts were added to the trains, but I wouldn't mind those additions if it meant getting rid of the OTSRs.
  14. That airtime-hill/s-curve looks awesome! This definitely has potential to be the best of all the wing coasters. Now B&M just needs to incorporate that kind of trackwork into their hyper coasters.
  15. Little Dipper at Six Flags Great America...
  16. 3-bench PTCs are so classy though on older woodies like Racer, Blue Streak, Great American Scream Machine, Phoenix etc. However, I don't think they should run on woodies like Viper at SFGAm (even though that coaster is actually pretty smooth). They run best on traditional out-&-back layouts that are mostly hills and not many turns. Should they go away completely? I don't think so. There's still a place for them so long as these classic woodies keep running.
  17. Wooo!! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning every IAAPA. Can't wait to see what's on display this year!
  18. Wow! This looks way better than I thought it would be! Looks like it'll be the best el loco if only because of the length. Not to mention how high up in the air you'll be!
  19. You know, I'm not as excited about Thunderbird as I feel like I should be. I don't really like wing coasters as much as I do traditional coasters. I've done all the wing coasters in the U.S., and they're all fun, but not amazing. Who knows, though. Maybe this one will surprise me. I am excited about this being B&M's first true launched coaster (I don't really count Hulk), and it will be nice to ride a major coaster at Holiday World that doesn't beat you up.
  20. ^When the dev team releases the wing coaster, possibly! Although my park file is already huge lol. Having 3 woodies in one park makes the file a bit of a struggle to run smoothly!
  21. I also liked this movie more than Frozen. In fact, it is probably the best of the recent string of CGI Disney films (Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, and Big Hero 6). It was seriously so freaking good. I want my own Baymax!
  22. Stunning!! I have some theatre experience, and seeing that 91-fly system made me drool.
  23. Florida wins. Despite the fact that the original Disneyland is my favorite Disney park, it doesn't come close to tipping the scale for me. At WDW, there's so much more to do. Add Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens, and a number of smaller parks like Legoland and Fun Spot, and you see why Central Florida is called the theme park capital of the world. Over in SoCal, the overall quality of the park collection just doesn't measure up to Florida's. Plus, Florida is closer to me.
  24. It's back from the dead!!! My work on this project had been getting more and more tedious and boring, so I ended up shelving it for a few months. A few weeks ago I decided to dust it off and keep going, and today I finally came to a milestone that was worth posting here. Voyage's speghetti bowl is totally done!! The only thing I have left to finish is the support work for the final third of Voyage's structure. Quick disclaimer: I'm not a huge nitpicker when it comes to absolute 100% accuracy. I wanted the track work to be about as close to the real thing as possible, but the support work is mostly educated guessing. I just want the supports to be realistic, but not necessarily completely accurate. And finally, I'm not even going to attempt making custom stations, at least at this point. Maybe at some point I'll come back and see what I can do, but once the supports on Voyage are all done, I'll call this project finished, and I'll post it on the game exchange. Anyways, here are some screenshots of current progress. I ended up re-building Raven, because it was originally about 400 ft short of the real length, and because this turn was never over water.
  25. ^I doubt it. Great Wolf Lodge seems to be doing a sufficient job of being Kings Island's "main" hotel. That old hotel reeked of 70s, and not really in a good way lol. It was time to knock it down.
