Photo TR: It Came From Wes's Closet
AllenA07 replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow someday I've got to venture into my "nerd" box. I know it's sitting in my closet (I tell them every time I'm there I plan to take it, but in all honesty, I plan to let it stay there) at my parents house. Anyway inside you'll find all the best, recorded discovery channel shows, dozens of coaster shirts, including a Windjammer shirt! My personal favorite, a land marker from X construction, as well as a complete set of blue-prints for the coaster. Along with all that are dozens of press kits, and even a catalog from Vekoma (no clue why I got that). I also have a bunch of coaster magazine from Vekoma laying around in there, they used to actually send out a quarterly magazine with a bunch of company news. Never was quite sure how I got myself on that mailing list, but it made for an impressive array for nerdy coaster junk. -
Six Flags Over Texas Opening Day Photo TR
AllenA07 replied to sfotkid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sfotkid, were you at the park in a TPR shirt? If so I'm pretty sure I aw you as I was heading out. Anyways good report, and I'd add my own if I thought there was much I could add, but there isn't so I won't bother. I was a little bummed that Shockwave was down (in a big way) but it was still fun. -
Highest $$$ Earning Roller Coaster
AllenA07 replied to deano's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would actually that a ride like Viper at SFMM would bring in a lot of money. While the ride isn't as popular as it once was, it does offer a high ROI. The ride has decent ridership, can move through huge amounts of riders quickly, and has low maintainance costs. -
Baile de las Flores was one of the first rides in the park, sad to see it come out.

I actually have a picture of Circus Wheel from my old site, so I'll throw that one up here. It's not the best, but it'll get the job done. . If you're wondering, because I'm sure you are, the ride was originally built by Sensei. For it's history my notes claim that it was originally named Baile de las Flores, it was moved to where Goliath is now in 1988 and renamed Jolly Roger. In 1999 the ride became Circus Wheel and was moved to its current location. Hope this helps.

CSI: Live solving cases at SFMM
AllenA07 replied to jackskellington101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Any guesses for where they are going to be running this show? Magic Moments would make the most sense, but it might be as simple of a setup as throwing a stage up somewhere and sticking in a portable sound system. -
You know I actually was thinking about a ride like Raven or Legend... Then I thought about Six Flags Magic Mountain, and after a short chuckle, dismissed that thought. As much as I would love to see the park get a decent wooden coaster, I just have a very difficult time seeing it happening. Though I'll be the first to say that I really hope the park proves me wrong.

How many hours of sleep did you get last night?

It started many years ago on my websites forums, so let me be the first to throw it out there: Bench: The Ride, family edition. With that out of the way I'm a little surprised it wont be a cloned ride, I had really figured it would be a simple plug and play coaster. It will be a family coaster (or so we think) so as of right now I'm thinking maybe something along the line of Jaguar! at Knotts. However anything any of us say at this point is going to be nothing more then pure speculation. Alright as an edit I'll add that other then on RCDB I don't see anywhere where it claims that is going to be a steel coaster, so wood is still an option I guess.

CSI: Live solving cases at SFMM

I think it's a great concept, however before I'm willing to judge it I want to see how SFMM pulls it off. It has potential the real question is if the park can take advantage of that potential and put something good together. -
Dont you ever get Scared?
AllenA07 replied to Joan_Crawford's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I very seldom will ride drop towers, they scare me and I've never enjoyed them. The strange fear I have however it water slides. For some reason I can't handle them, they have always scared me. If the slide is enclosed I enjoy it, but a tall open water slide is simply something I won't ride. -

^It's debated if the Earth is going to be sallowed by the sun. As the Sun expands it'll get really really toasty on earth, but there is a good chance that the expanding sun will expand the orbit of the earth, so we won't burn up completely. However in something like 1000^100 years everything is going to basically end up at a constant low state of energy as atoms themselves break down, don't think the Earth is going to escape that one!

Segway Lawsuit With Disney Update
AllenA07 replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You must be delusional if you think that all judges have common sense. I spent too many years defending cases because of moronic judges. I fully agree that not all judges have common sense, I'm just saying that this case appeared to be a very open and shut matter. The people were in no plausible way hurt, hence I think most judges would have had to find that they lacked standing to bring the suit. -

There are thorn bushes around Scream to get poked on? Other then needing some landscaping I've always liked Scream. Nowhere near my favorite rides in the park (I've always found the floorless concept to be a gimmick) but a decent coaster none-the-less. The only thing I'll say about Scream is that it always seemed like a very rushed coaster, something the park decided on last minute. I'll be interested to see if the music idea transfers over to X, I think with the proper music (assuming it works) it would be a cool effect. Just please no more techno music on roller coasters!

Segway Lawsuit With Disney Update
AllenA07 replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What I wonder is if somebody who was planning on visiting the park is going to try to bring the same suit. This case was dismissed because of no reason other then the lack of standing. There is no ruling whatsoever on if Segways should be allowed at the park. Basically you can't sue if you're not somehow (and believe me, somehow is a broad term)hurt, and these people in no conceivable way were hurt. This has nothing to do with the judge lacking (or having great deals of) common sense, any judge in the United States (at least federal) would have had to dismiss this case. --Allen (who hopes to become the TPR legal analyst.)
