Drop tower accident injures 10
805Andrew replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I watched that video, then I watched another , then I watched the video that played for 10 seconds at the end of that video - the , followed by a bunch of other Pomplamoose videos. Funny how watching one YouTube video can lead to a chain link of watching videos that are barely related - and this is on a post of a drop ride accident. Okay, carry on. -
Ultimate 3 day trip?
805Andrew replied to MisterBrow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
you're going to go to Kings Dominion, but bypass the absolutely spectacular BGW (less than an hour from it) ?? hmmm. . Yeah, he just lost his own thread. How is this a 3 day trip? Yeah, I counted at least five days, and even at five days this trip is a death march. -
Wow! Pandora looks even more amazing than I expected. It's nice that they will open with not one, but two e-ticket rides (a thrill one and a family one). Pandora is what might make me finally pull a trigger on doing a Florida trip, although I've been wanting to do one for awhile. If I don't make it to Orlando this year then I will next year for sure. A lot of people won't notice little details like this but I certainly will. I collect theme park merchandise bags and I think this one looks really cool.

Unfortunetely too much companies do this or have this mentality and watch their product/service deteriorate and employee morale decline with increased turnover. It would be nice and make sense if companies would reinvest their profits in their business and people (not just the fat cats at the top) but for too many companies it takes several years of diminishing returns and decline in guest satisfication to realize this and when things start getting better again many of them fall back into their old ways - it's like a never ending vicious cycle. I would be for Six Flags raising their ticket/pass prices if they reinvested all this additional revenue back into their business, but if they're just doing this to pocket extra profit then forget about it! This! Most likely the case. I'll have to make a trip to Magic Mountain sometime in May (on a weekday) before it gets nuts there.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
805Andrew replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I only was at Kennywood for a few hours en transit from Cedar Point to Central PA (going to Knoebels the following day) last summer and while I'm really glad I got to go to Kennywood even if it was only for a short while, I left the place itching for more. I got to ride the three wooden coasters and the two main steel coasters, and do the Noah's Ark walkthrough, but there are so many other things there that looked like they were worth trying and I could have easily spent a whole day there. I definitely want to go back to Kennywood at some point. You're making the right decision. Being that the ride is already called Sky Rocket I wouldn't hold your hopes too high. -

I enjoyed the Walt Disney Family Museum when I visited it about a year and a half ago, especially the large scale model of Disneyland. Any Disney fan needs to see this museum at some point. -
Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, South Africa

There isn't much info or pictures on this park, so thanks for sharing your experience. Tower of Tower and Anaconda are both unique and the park as a whole looks pretty nice. I'd love to visit Gold Reef City if I am ever in South Africa, especially to ride Tower of Terror and Anaconda. -

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Last year when I did a trip that included Dollywood, Cedar Point, and Six Flags Great Adventure, I went to Kings Island on a Saturday and I'm glad I had Fast Lane Plus because it was the most crowded park day of my trip. So definitely get Fast Lane especially if you've never been to Kings Island. -

I always like seeing these outsider perspectives of Orlando, especially since I've never been I would be like an outsider on my first visit. Great pictures so far and I can't wait to see more. -

Orlando also has an MLS team now: Orlando City SC. Orlando is moving up in the world of sports. Great pictures of USH by the way - looks like Diagon Alley alone makes it worth a visit. -
It will all depend when WCB is (if its happening this year). If its after Labor Day like in past years than unfortunetely both CGA and the Boardwalk will be closed during the week. If its during the summer, then the boardwalk is open until 11PM on many nights and I would recommend going to CGA during the day and leaving around 4-7PM and heading to the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk is awesome at night with all the lights and atmosphere and if you go on a Retro Night its $1.50 (one ticket) per ride or $9.99 for a ride wristband and in the past hot dogs, soda, and cotton candy were the same price as ride tickets as well. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is worth it for the atmosphere and history, classic rides like the Giant Dipper and Carousel with the Ring Toss (it's like the Carousel at Knoebels but slightly better in my opinion), and some of the crazy flat rides they have added over the years (including two new ones this year). The cheesy haunted walkthroughs and dark rides are also worth trying out if you have a wristband. Here's TR of me at a Retro Night (called 1907 Nights back then) at the Boardwalk several years ago to give you an idea. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=60019&p=1069231&hilit=805Andrew%27s+TR#p1069231 (scroll down halfway for SCBB) CGA is worth it for Gold Striker if you can visit it (especially if you have a Cedar Fair pass). Flight Deck and Drop Tower (late 90s Intamin drop ride) are also great and now they have Patriot too which is supposed to be much improved over Vortex. Don't skip out on the flat rides at CGA, there's some good ones on the left side of the park by Boomerang Bay. If you could only pick one park though I would go with the Boardwalk though. Here's a quote from my 2011 TR: Of course this was before CGA had Goldstriker, which is the best wooden coaster in the Golden State in my opinion.

The UAE is one of the Muslim countries our president loves because he has a golf resort and gets money from them! We did a good 'US Apology Tour' while there, and it was interesting how so many people thought EVERYONE in the US voted for Trump. We explained that less than half of the country voted for him and don't share his values. So we're trying to help with how the world views Americans! Thank you for your service! I may have to do the same when I go to Europe - I can always play the California card though. On another note, Dubai looks absolutely amazing and it just keeps getting better. I'm glad they rebounded from the economic slowdown in the late 2000s and a lot of projects are resuming. Within the next few years I'll have to make a trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this TR.

Photo TR's: JordyC's Theme Park Adventures
805Andrew replied to JordyC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At least they learned from the mistakes of when Disneyland Paris opened Walt Disney Studios Paris and included Ferrari Land with the Port Aventura ticket instead of making it a more expensive hopper option. I'll have to check out Ferrari Land next time I visit Spain since I have relatives in the Barcelona area. Hopefully Ferrari Land will have a few more attractions by the next time I visit Barcelona.
