  1. That, and the fact that Jaws, Dungeon of Terror and Bill & Ted are all in the same area. Amity will be really crowded. It's a shame, because Midway of the Bizzare is the only scarezone that's ever really scared me.
  2. The usage of Eddie is a disagreement between creative and marketing, I would assume. The marketing department probably don't want to use such a little known character to represent the event, and what they say goes, unfortunately. For those of you who don't know, the marketing department was also responsible for the oh-so-crappy Storyteller, who did not fit into last year's event whatsoever. Creative wanted the Terra Queen to be the icon character.
  3. HHN XIV was nothing like previous years at USF, since the scarezones were inbetween the parks. While I do think there should definitely be more than three scarezones this year, the overall atmosphere at USF usually trumps what they were capable of at IOA by a long shot. Certain areas of IOA, namely Seuss Landing, Toon Lagoon and Marvel, really worked against what they were trying to achieve. They weren't made with a Halloween event in mind. USF has much more realistic theming, which creates a more real and visceral atmosphere. Once you see the park made over for HHN, you will understand what the "purists" are talking about. You won't get to see anything as detailed and exotic as Lost Continent, obviously, but once you see HHN in action at USF, you won't care. The main focus of HHN while it was held at the Studios was scares, not overdone theatrics. Not only do I expect HHN to regain some of it's old intensity, I also expect this year's houses to blow last year's out of the water.
  4. Yes, this year's event revolves around the icons, as the website shows... http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando
  5. I don't think you give people credit enough. When it comes down to it, I'm sure who ever is planning the trip is not as arrogant as you think. Uhhm, who said anything about arrogance? It's ignorance. And yes, it happens dumbfoundingly often, so why should I give them credit?
  6. If someone has never even heard of IOA, chances are they're not too serious about visiting UO to begin with. USF isn't as well-known as you'd think. Remember, the general public are stupid enough to get Universal and MGM confused on a regular basis. Don't give these people too much credit. Also, the resort is usually marketed as a whole. When's the last time you saw a USF-only commercial that wasn't related to a new attraction?
  7. Certainly didn't see this coming, although I'm not sure I believe it either. While a new ride would be nice, I'll take any new entertainment the park offers. They need to start pumping the new rides into IOA anyway, not USF.
  8. That's probably just a general insanity reference. The darkest maze will be People Under the Stairs.
  9. It's up... it's all up. Well, except for that curious bloody sheet covering the contents of the 2006 drawer.... But hey, at least we have official event details!
  10. HHN XVI construction photos can be found here, if anyone's interested. http://www.horrornights.be/con_16.html
  11. You're much more likely to see Scary Tales and RUN documented. I'm wondering if they'll mention Eddie. The 2002 drawer should be interesting as well, with Caretaker and Scream House.
  12. Trying to use actual backstage areas against MGM's version. Nice. You pretty much lost any credibility right there.
  13. Construction is well underway. Most of the houses are probably finished by now.
  14. I just find it a little weird how this thread accumulated ten pages and then goes dead when actual info starts coming in. Speaking of info... http://www.robosaurus.com/schedule.html
  15. The 95-96 drawers have been opened, and the first Production Die-ry is up. Is anyone reading this thread?
  16. Official press release: http://media.universalorlandoresort.hassmsl.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=121
  17. I think you can directly blame Dinosaur for that. They probabaly had very similar concepts... except Universal would have done it better. JP still awaits a new attraction.
  18. One of this year's billboards:
  19. Go to the HHN site and go to the Behind the Screams section. The first drawer is now open. Enjoy.
  20. Details from a recent orientation, including spoilers. These are all tentative details. As you can see, this year's event will be icon-tastic! Scare Zones: The Arrival (Battery Park) - Possibly a show Horror Comes Home (Hollywood Blvd) - HHN's iconic characters will be present Harvest of the Souls (Kidzone) Deadtropolis: Zombie Siege (New York) - Bikers could be involved Nightmare Alley (Production Central, next to Shrek 4-D) - You might find the Crypt Keeper here Houses: Dungeon of Terror: Retold (Jaws queue) People Under The Stairs: Under Construction (Behind MIB) - Supposedly using the same technology as Terror Mines Psychopath: The Return of Norman Bates (Behind MIB) Run: Hostile Territory (Earthquake queue) - Eddie's been set loose Scream House: The Resurrection (SS 23) - Caretaker's back, back again All Night DrIvE In: Take 2 (SS 23) - More silver screen hijinks with the Director Psycho Scareapy: Maximum Madness (SS 22) - Jack visits the loony bin Univesal 360 will be utilized for a show titled "Cut!" Bill & Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure returns to the Fear Factor theater.
  21. Yep. Only Jack remains. It's a pretty good AA, especially if unload gets backed up and you stop right in front of him. But he's a little far away, and really the only thing to look at now. They should have at least placed those other AA's elsewhere. It also would have been nice if they installed another waterfall effect at the very end, so you couldn't see into the unload while in the last scene.
  22. What a crappy way to go... riding Gwazi. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
