Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, I honestly don't know what a flying fork on a trycicle why "LC12" is the codename for Thope's new coaster. To me, "LC" means a "Launch Coaster" while they're obviously getting a Wing-Rider. Maybe using a similar name could mean a similar type of coaster... a 212-foot wing rider, anyone? X2 (4-D coaster we have here) goes up 175 feet, then drops 215 feet. Hell, Eejanaika goes up a whole 250 feet, bigger than what Hershey should be building, so it's very possible to have a ride type with that size. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well... I decided to dissect this one just a little more. The only major things I found were both of the brothers graduating in 1990, the year B&M made their first coaster, and the year they made the "auto-hover dump truck" with MIT, 2005. That year was a boon for Intamin Rocket Coasters (Which seems to have been hinted at by RIT); five opened (Including Kingda Ka). I also sent an Email through the company's website, considering that was a major step of the RIT website. I'll be sure to let you know if I get a response... -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

^You think that's a troll? I personally just saw one worse, on for Cheetah Hunt: I know this might be very subjective to some people, but *Facepalm* -

TPR's Front Page - What do you like/dislike?
Blatch replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sounds like an interesting topic! The front page hasn't changed a smidge since I first visited this site... but I feel it could use some tweaks. The general layout of the Main Page doesn't need any updating... although I would like to see new features. The ideal design I want is still there... it could use just a little bit more. The randomizer has been one of my favorite parts of the main page, but I feel as if some of the links there are very outdated (Like, 2004-ish outdated ). I would like, if possible, to see trip reports from 2009-2010 and see some newer special events (Like... Cheetah Hunt's media day) to go along with them. I feel that you could use a bit more integration with the site's Game Exchange. In particular, I would like it if you had a feature where you could look at a random NoLimits track and, if you like it, possibly download it on the spot. I would also like some links to the latest NoLimits user contest where you can create new tracks, since I often forget about things like that. Not that much, really. I wouldn't change a thing more. I hope you find my wonderful tidbits of knowlege to be of upmost importance to the site! You're an awesome guy, Rob! -
Oh my goodness... the Wild Cheetah's queue has to be the best queue I've seen thematically... ever. I love how they spaced the ride's factoids out all over the path, as well as the "Cheetah Rock" and how that thematically fits in the path. Whenever I get the chance to ride this kitty, it should be an amazing experience! I just hope that I won't have to wait long, as I was spoiled in my only previous visit here.

Ummm... wow. Just in case you wanted to know more about these Looping Coasters, they're made by Interpark, same company that made the Wild Wind coasters. There's one more of these in the world, and it's in South Korea. http://rcdb.com/401.htm Anyways, amazing trip report, Steve! I'm pretty sure I've never seen anyone go to 9 parks in one day, and I was suprised to see that some of the coasters you featured were actually pretty good!

Photo TR: Rainbow Magicland
Blatch replied to Six Flags Enthuseast's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Interesting TR... Rainbow Magicland looks like a really underappreciated new park, and not a lot has been said about it. I was fascinated myself when I first "discovered" this one on RCDB. For a park with such an ironic name, it sure has some amazing stuff! A lot of the rides look really neat, most of them are rides we don't really see all that much, especially Shock... that thing looks AMAZING! It's twisty, it has the launch of Maverick, the non-inverting loop of HRRR, Abisimo's overbanked turn, and an awesome looking transition into the MBCR! Too bad it wasn't open when the park first was. I hope you get to go there again in a couple of weeks, Enthuseast! -
^... Hard to believe that this ride is opening tommorow! I've been following this ride since the day I heard about the leaked layout, and to believe it's been over a year since that! The amount of space the ride takes up is just plain amazing, and it seems they did a great job with the Rhino Rally section at the end of the park where it sorta shows off a terrain-ish design. And as for that Robb POV Video... awesomeness! It was a lot more fun to watch than the standard POV, that was for sure. I also loved his overjoyed reactions of the "Twisties" as the ride went through the Trick-Track on steroids! *Pokes Fujiyama*

Wow, some amazing pictures so far by the TPR crew! Cheetah Hunt is a very photogenic ride, and I love all of the different shots you can get of the coaster through it's long, winding course. Unfortunately, I seem to have gone just a bit too early. I wish I could have known all about their new coaster before I went last April. I guess I'll just have to wait until 2012 or 2013, but I'll be spending some quality time with Untamed myself this summer...

Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hope they make it a multi car train. But... that's wanting to have the coaster be a higher capacity! Everyone knows you can't have that at Fuji-Q! Not to mention, they've probably picked out the right opening day for the coaster, because it will probably raining when everybody tries to ride it. Then they'll postpone opening and wait another month or so. Fuji-Q's got it down to a science, peoples! -
Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I don't actually think that they'd be that careless with that kind of capacity. Unless they wanted to get those fancy lap-bar only cars that get used on Dare Devil Dive, there's no real reason why they could downsize.... ...then again, a lot of the big-ticket rides at Fuji-Q are painful, right? This may actually be a case where having a better capacity might cost them. -
What is the coolest coaster name?
Blatch replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, even though it's not even opened yet, I'll have to say that Untamed is a pretty cool name. Quite fitting for a compact Gerstlauer Eurofighter. And as for World Joyland (That park in China with the B&M Flyer)... well, I personally think they've gone above and beyond at naming, with coaster names like Dragon Soaring the Sky, Mystery in Clouds, Starry Sky Ripper... -
Canobie Lake Park Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great news for all! I should be up by the Salem area this weekend, so I'll take a small trip around the outside of the park via the back roads and get a look at the completed coaster. I can only imagine what the views would be actually inside the park... Oh, and a 75th Birfday Celebration for the Yankee Cannonball? That should be pretty good as well. Hopefully, there's some ERT to compliment the event. -
^Actually... Green Lantern's loop was indeed painted green for a while. One of the corkscrews would have been yellow, and not the loop, but then they changed it for some odd reason and made the biggest inversion the yellow one. Compare for yourself: Dominator's loop, on the other hand, has always been yellow.

Looks like a really fun coaster. I've heard it's the smoothest of the Stand-Up coasters (Next to Riddler's), but I haven't ridden any Stand-Ups, however, so I can't compare it to anything. Not to mention, based on how the coaster's station is layed out (Isn't it the same as GASM's station?), I wasn't actually expecting that much theming on the ride. The theming is looking awesome! I was definately impressed with all of the Comic Storyboards in the path to the station. The Yellow Loop was a nice touch, as well as Hal Jordan's plane.

Wow, it took them until just now to start vertical construction on this ride? I know about them trying to move the ride so that it didn't interfere with Skycabin, but did it really take that long? Well, I live on the opposite side of the country from them, so my answer may not be correct. Should be a good ride for the park, however!

Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
121 Degrees? Seriously? I bet the guys over at Fraispertuis City (And S&S, they're building Timber Drop over there) are really PO'd right about now about them not getting the drop record now that Gerstlauer's built this. This Euro-Fighter's gonna be absolutely mental, and I thought that Untamed was going ot be crazy. It also looks like (Not much people have noticed this) there's gonna be an indoor section, and that should be pretty cool. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Blatch replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm still oogled at why there are all of those empty boxes layed out for us. Clearly, it must be an in-progress page that got leaked too early. Either that, or what CoasterFreak101 said. Hershey definately got really cryptic with this last case study. Hopefully, it doesn't get that much harder from here. *Cough*Nantami*Cough* Not to mention, we still have to find Dr. Cupone! Maybe he could possibly give us more information... -
How much can I bribe you for one of those? I am so bummed I didn't win either of those contests on the BGT blog. I wanted to go to that night time ERT SO bad. *sigh* Oh well. /done whining There were ERT contests on the official Busch Blog? And one of them would have been composed entirely of night rides? If I actually lived close to BGA, I would probably have stayed up as long as I could in order to nab tickets. Hopefully, a trip in 2012 will be close enough for me.

Nürburgring launched coaster
Blatch replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well... I was amazed when I saw this guy for the first time on TV, having a coaster that could actually break Kingda Ka in terms of overall speed. Now, Formula Rossa is open and people don't care diddly squat about this thing anymore. It's a miracle that they're still trying to get this open (In my eyes), since they can't get the speed record anymore (Unless something absoutely horrible happens to FR). Whatever happens to the project, Kingda Ka still won't be the fastest anymore, and hey... having the 2nd fastest coaster in the world could make you have a notable increase in thrill-seeking guests. If they get something positive for an outcome, which may or may not be likely, considering how much money was probably put into the coaster... than good for them. I personally think they should have stopped on this project a long time ago, and the frequent breakdowns have only seemed to point them in the right direction. ~Blatch -
