  1. Aw hell, I thought that was hilarious. I can see that being a caricature of oblivious GPers that overblow the stats of rides.
  2. I'd like to think of it as the "reverse RMC treatment".
  3. Pretty ironic that it was just the turn into the station where the restraint opened, and that did him in. At least it doesn't sound as horrible as being thrown out like a rocket mid-ride. My thoughts go to the victim and his family.
  4. Looping Tobaggan for the loss, post apocalyptic Fire Brigade for the win. I love seeing TRs of parks I know I'll never visit, but probably wouldn't want to anyway. Also, I'm suprised nobody's mentioned how big that Mine Train was. It's one of the biggest I've ever seen, and certainly one of the most badass.
  5. The ill-fated Parque de la Ciudad in Argentina has had some weird coaster occurances: one of them, a Jet Star, was never even constructed, while another, Vertigorama (A.K.A. what would be the only Intamin Double Coaster in existence) was completed, but its electrical system was never set up, so it remains SBNO to this day. Other coasters at the park did operate, but have been SBNO themselves for over 10 years. The park closed in 2003 for "maintenance reasons", but when it reopened (in 2007), only the kiddie rides were open, and none of the coasters have reopened since. If you're one to assume that something is seriously wrong with this park, then you are right: RCDB says that a nationally-known scandal involving military dictatorship took place at the park during its construction, which led to an incomplete park, and many like me scratching my head.
  6. That Sky Screamer is just nothing but jaw-droppingness the whole way through, or rather, up. I'll probably never ride it anyway, as I don't go along well with Chairswing rides anyway, but I'm certain the view from the top will be unmatched.
  7. I came here just to see if everyone was reacting as intended. Yeah, it looks horrible, and I would never buy this anyway because I don't play any sort of games on my phone (I mainly just stream the internet, listen to music, and... you know, call people).
  8. Here's an idea that I've had in my head for a long time: a wooden coaster with a a beyond-vertical drop. With RMC technology, do you think it would be possible? We already have a few of them with near-verticals.
  9. Too early to tell, but I'm hoping that it's something at Dorney Park. We've been talking about going there ever since we passed it by on a road trip.
  10. My home park is Canobie Lake Park, and... well, I've already been spoiled enough for Untamed not to care if they get anything for a while, but if they did (and they could squish it in there, since they are relatively cramped for space), I'd like to see them put in a junior coaster, preferrably a Vekoma Roller Skater, if only to bridge the gap between the pitfully small Dragon Coaster, and the larger thrills (Cannonball, Corkscrew, Untamed).
  11. Glorious. Too bad I'll never be able to ride it, but regardless, another of Schwartzy's creations has been saved! How awesome.
  12. Wow. "Ever wanted to give your customers whiplash? Order now and get an additional roll of duct tape". That's actually their version of the Tower Coaster I mentioned earlier in the thread... think about that for a moment. A chinese rip-off of an SBF Visa Group coaster. To quote the Angry Video Game Nerd, "that's like puking on a pile of shit!".
  13. I think Wiener Prater removed 21 coasters http://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&ex=2&pk=4926 Weiner might be a unique case, though. I heard that most of the rides there are owned by different operators.
  14. Pfft. That's nothing: I knew that there was one that operated in Russia (albeit one that they only subcontracted on). http://rcdb.com/4242.htm
  15. I didn't get half the credits at Six Flags New England when I went this year, mainly because we burned a few hours at the water park and didn't have a whole lot of time to spend riding stuff once we got back... which did include Goliath. Also, I missed out on half the credits at Hersheypark when I went a few years ago, though that was more because of laziness. I did get to ride the Roller Soaker, though, but I wish I could have gotten on at least one side of the damn Lightning Racer that was right next to it.
  16. Wow. And I thought Lagoon's in-house roller coaster was innovative: this seems to be like no other experience I have ever seen, heard, or eaten. It also looks pretty scary, too, even if I'm a guy that's not especially afraid of heights so long as I'm strapped in well.
  17. I'd like to see what anything is like on a dive machine. The only inversion B&M has used so far on those is the Immelmann.
  18. Canobie Corkscrew's original paint job never looked good. Maybe it's an iconic paint scheme for an Arrow, but... mustard yellow track with black supports? That combo never looks good. Thankfully, it was just repainted last year. Now it has electric blue track, a teal spine, and white supports, and looks a lot more relaxing, not to mention unique.
  19. So strange to see a B&M with a curved drop, but no pre-drop. It violates everything I know and love about my life! Still an awesome coaster coming together, though.
  20. Well, I only went to two parks this year, and drove past two others, but I do have enough moments to make a post out of. *Best moment: Reaching the top of Bizarro's lift hill. I had never been on a coaster that high before, and I marveled at how small everything seemed from below. *Best individual ride: Getting to ride Untamed at Canobie Lake Park with my aunt beside me. I never get personal moments like that, so I treasure every one that occurs. *Funniest moment: Going on Blizzard River at SFNE and getting soaked, even though it was dusk and not remotely hot outside. Me and my sister waited for Pandemonium shivering cold. *Scariest moment: Being able to see another state at the top of Bizarro's lift. Also, the entirety of Screemfest at Canobie Lake Park. *Strangest moment: Realizing that the line for Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE was much longer than we expected... an hour longer. *Favorite individual park visit: Well, I only visited two, and both are about equal, so I'll go with my SFNE visit. So much new stuff to ride. *Nerdiest moment: Everything that I do at theme parks is a nerdy moment, but the one that stood out in particular was when, coming home from a wedding in Pennsylvania, we stayed at a Howard Johnson's that was right next to Dorney Park, and I proceeded to rattle off as much about the park as I could while we were there. *Best non-coaster related thing to happen at a park: Screemfest. Especially Cannibal Island. Me and my aunt were laughing our arses off in addition to being scared at every corner. *Best thing to happen on a park trip outside of the park: See "Nerdiest moment". Though I guess it doesn't count since I didn't actually go for the park. *Favorite new experience: Ejector air, baby. Also, my first halloween event, my first taste of big-business corprate parks, and-hey, my first TPR Photo TR, all went very nicely. *Anything else you'd like to mention as a highlight: I do plan on going with my family to Dorney next year, and I'll make a PowerPoint presentation showing everything they would ever need to know about the park. Because that's exactly how I do things.
  21. The third ride of my yearly visit to Untamed at Canobie Lake Park, during Screemfest. Still as forceful (and as minimally rough) as ever.
  22. Going to Canobie Lake Park today for Screemfest. Offseason hasn't started for me just yet.
  23. They also made the spine-crushingly painful looking Cool and Fresh, A.K.A., the Tower Coaster. You know, from RCT3? I've heard that it's on the fair circuit in Australia right now.
