Revenge of the GeoDuck!!!!!
pete4winds replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Who would've dreamed this thread could possibly be resurrected? If anyone's interested, next week's "Dirty Jobs" features a "Geoduck Farmer" among others, and is appropriately titled "Geoduck Farmer" (wow, creative). It'll be on Discovery at 9:00 PM, next Wed., July 18th. Enjoy! I know I'm marking my calendar... -
2 seriously hurt on carnival ride
pete4winds replied to tsmcdon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I totally love the Zipper! Except, there was that one time years ago... I was at a carnival with some friends, and this one chick (some friend of a friend..I didn't know her) jumped on the Zipper with me...she had this gigantic pocketbook that she took on with her. At one point the car we were in started flipping kinda slowly and on one of the flips it almost slowed to a stop. The pocketbook, having been on the floor of the car, removed itself from said floor and drilled me square in the face. One split lip and one chipped tooth later, I made every effort to avoid Megapurse Lady for the rest of our time there. -

OK, I'll admit I got suckered by the "Photo TR" subject line. Still waiting for the pics, but good TR anyway. Reminds me that I haven't been to BGE for some time now and I really need to. -
Jahan's Trip to Thailand--A Photo TR!
pete4winds replied to arrowfanman's topic in Random, Random, Random
Great PTR!!! I've been to Thailand twice, and I miss it in the worst way...this brought back some fun memories (although some memories of Thailand, not directly inspired by this TR, are not so appropriate for this family-friendly site - oops, maybe I should keep that to myself ). ^ Guy, I'm WAY jealous! Born in Thailand??? -
Photo TR: Western New York and More
pete4winds replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great PTR...always nice to get reports from some of the remaining classic parks of the Northeast (unlike my defunct local parks Lincoln, Whalom, and Rocky Point). But here's a philosophical question...does this qualify as "Parking Lot Theming?" Borrowed from this TR for reference. -
I'm looking for the link that Robb once posted for bulk miniDV tapes (pretty inexpensive, as I recall), and I'm having trouble finding it...yes, I did a forum search. If anyone has that link (or the thread it was posted in), any chance it could be posted again?

I happened to catch "Great Old Amusement Parks" on Rhode Island PBS tonight (Wednesday) at 8:00 PM. As my sub-title says, I'm sure most of you have seen it, but for those who haven't seen it or would like a copy, I found the link of the VHS from Pittsburgh PBS affiliate that produced it. http://www.wqed.org/tv/natl/amusement/index.shtml

Not really stupid or funny, but I suppose it's random...this is a special effects test I created (of a "ghost") back in September '05. Thoughts or opinions are welcome, preferably constructive...

To quote Bill Paxton's "Fred Haise" from Apollo 13: "I could eat the *ss ot of a dead rhinoceros."

25% Mohawk and 25% Italian on Dad's side, and 50% French-Canadian and Irish mix on Mom's side. I've been hoop dancing since about April or May (or so) of 1993...and yes, it can be pretty intense. Lots of work involved.

The Navajo hoop dance (although I'm Mohawk, not Navajo). It's an ancient and sacred storytelling dance that tells the story of life and how all life is interconnected. Both of my brothers, Corey (10) and Forest (7) are also hoop dancers...Corey joins me in the photos below. Mother Earth...the finale Corey transitioning between shapes Butterfly Eagle

I was wandering around the BNR Metal website today, and came across this obscure Japanese metal band from the 70s, Bow Wow (generally regarded as the first Japanese emtal band). Their fifth album, Guarantee (1978), could very well be TPR-friendly "Bench: The Album." Their BNR Metal listing, and the BNR home page, for those of you who (like me) love your really obscure bands. http://www.bnrmetal.com/groups/bowo.htm - Bow Wow's listing. http://www.bnrmetal.com/ - BNR Metal home page Sorry the photo's so small.

best AIRTIME!!!!11!!!
pete4winds replied to colossus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to throw my $.02 in for Wildcat at Hersheypark (and of course, its twin, Roar at SFA). More specifically, the first drop during a backseat ride. I floated down the hill an inch or two behind the seat...dare I say literally? Now THAT was airtime! -
OK, I think I've now officially "seen it all." A block party on a freeway. Imagine that.

Mine is a picture of me and my wife Jen (in my pre-contact lens days) from Thanksgiving...maybe 2004.

Whats your favorite Vekoma?
pete4winds replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I can carrow mine down to two: Batwing - it was my first flyer, in its opening season... Sidewinder, Hershey - certainly nothing spectacular on its own, but I happen to love its location. -
^ You mean the jumblies? What's really on your mind? Sean (ECZenith) beat me to SROS at SFNE, but I'll add two more. I found Comet's brakes at Hershey to be kinda sudden, and I also had a surprisingly quick stop on SFNE's Thunderbolt last August. It really sticks out in my mind because it was so different from most of my experiences on T-bolt.

More accurately, "All your BALLS are belong to me." -
I looked at my driver's license, and shortened the "Four" (in FourWinds) to "4"...

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
pete4winds replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In August of last year I opted for a non-Qbot visit at SFNE, and at one point I was in the B:TDK queue (specifically behind the station). Thee three guys were in front of me talking about the rides they HAD done that day, and the ones they were GOING to do after B:TDK, and I overheard this (my thoughts in bold/italics): Says one: "Have you seen that Switchback ride? It goes backwards up a hill and down through a bunch of loopty-loops, then it goes backwards." Clearly referring to Flashback Says another: "Isn't that the one some guy died on early last year?" Obviously S:ROS Says the first: "No, that was the one just like it down in New Jersey." I haven't the foggiest idea WTF this was referring to
