  1. That's a great picture! As an expectant first-time father myself, I'm WAY jealous that I have to wait almost two years until I get to do this. I can only hope my child (or children) have as much fun! Congrats to Conner on his first ride!
  2. ^ Makes me glad *I* don't live in Yokosuka anymore. < Perfromed a Native American hoop dance aboard a US ship of the line in a declared combat area while on active duty aboard that same ship. v Can't finish a thought without asking "can I buy a vowel?"
  3. 'smatter of fact, I am...my work uniform is all black (supposed to be more "intimidating" that way - whatever) Do you have a particular choice of music that fires you up for your day at (insert park name here)?
  4. Edited: you missed my point, but whatever...
  5. Conjoined twins...
  6. Wahington Mutual ads on Yahoo! Old Mr. Six New Mr. Six
  7. As much as I loved San Diego (I lived there from 1993-97), I moved back to my home state of Massachusetts and haven't looked back since! One of the best decisions I ever made. Good luck with the move.
  8. Mine is a toss-up between zero-g rolls and immelmans...I voted zero-g rolls only because I've been on more of them than immelmans. Oh, and Lena...the inversion you indicate in the picture would indeed be a Pretzel Loop.
  9. I think it was either through RCDB or Google. I'd been a CoasterBuzz member but got tired of the Message Board Gestapo there (I still have a membership, but I don't visit anymore - for exactly those reasons). I went wandering around looking for a better place to get my coaster fix (other than actually on a coaster), and so here I am...
  10. ^ sorry to say it's more like coaster-riding HALF of a couple LOL...my wife has motion sickness issues (although I did manage to get her on Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Disaster transport, and she's a MEAN RCT engineer LOL). In any case, definitely we need to make plans to meet up sometime...shame Rocky Point and Lincoln Park are both gone...
  11. ^ ...a flea market...? I've found some strange things in some strange places, but this is pretty high up on the list.
  12. Me likey Turkish Twist. I remember going to Canobie this one particular time when I was a kid,,,my cousins and I just kept getting back in line for it. We could've ridden it as many as forty or fifty times that day.
  13. Robb, Here's a link with all the remaining brass ring carousels - at least the ones in North America. Unfortunately it would seem that the removal of the ring machine on the Battleship Cove carousel is permanent (I'd mentioned in my TR that the machine was not in place that day as it HAD been on my last visit sometime last year)... Anyway, scroll down about 3/4 of the way down the page for brass ring carousels - the rest of the page is pretty informative, too. Oh, and Sean, according to this list there are TWO in RI. Crescent Park Carousel and Watch Hill Flying Horses. http://www.nca-usa.org/census/census-awards.html
  14. If you take 79 north to 6 on the way to work, you pass right by my house, too! If you look to the right just after the ramp from 195 east merges (where the clearing in the trees is), the blue house is mine. For reference, here's the view from my living room, taken by my wife. Also, the Crescent Park Carousel is the one in RI that you're thinking of, and it's still alive and well! A few links: http://www.crescentparkcarousel.com/default.htm Official http://community.webshots.com/album/18324476lxiLsjSBCl Nice Webshots gallery (not mine).
  15. Dude! The guy's not even from an english speaking country! I thought he did a great job, lay off a bit man. I completely agree...the guy said right from the get-go that he was from a non-English-speaking country. Ease up a bit. Besides...shouldn't we...um...maybe...I dunno...let the mods mod, and maybe not do it FOR them?
  16. PART 4: Until next time... More amazing detail.
  17. PART 3: On my ride, I was alone...this is the crowd I drew! Who's that good-lookin' guy? The Fall River Heritage State Park building from the carousel. Looks like it would be quite at home as a loading station. The former USS Joseph P. Kennedy and the Charles P. Braga Memorial Bridge, as seen from the carousel. The former USS Massachusetts (the battleship) and the former USS Lionfish (the sub) as seen from the carousel. Look...we even have Bench: The Ride! Nice action photo.
  18. PART 2: My wife Jen, as seen from the carousel. Digit, as seen from the carousel. Another angle. The carousel's history. More detail. Some of the stunning detail. And my answer to the Signature Shot, REVERSE-POV OVER-THE-SHOULDER STYLE!!! My answer to the Signature Shot, POV STYLE!!! Yup! The carousel is on the second floor. Offices, restrooms, and the snack bar are on the first.
  19. For those of you familiar with the old Lincoln Park in Massachusetts, the carousel now lives (and has since 1992) about three blocks from my house. Despite the proximity, I only get down there a couple times a year. Today was the day this weekend. Of course, we took Digit (our dog) and had to make an on-the-way stop to her favorite swimming hole (posted in an earlier TR on the Random board). In any case, this carousel is one of the few brass-ring carousels left (sadly, the rings were not out today), but I did get a nice POV including the spectacular views this carousel offers. That'll be posted later when I get it compressed. In the meantime, enjoy! PART 1: This is what we're here for! OK, after 7-11 we stopped at Digit's swimming hole, she took her dip, and now we've arrived at our destination Nope...we didn't get towed. We were authorized (as evidenced by the previous photo). MMMMM...frosty goodness! Here's our first stop. Very important. But we're not going yet...got a pit stop to make. Here is the carousel pavilion. ...and 3. The parking lot is just to the right of the first bridge pylon. ...and 2... I said it's only three blocks: here's 1...
  20. That's eight minute and eight seconds of my life that I will never get back...
  21. ^ Before we get too far off track (or too excited) about "TPR's Hersheypark Hundredth Anniversary Celebration," let's remember that I was only asking if there WERE any plans or if anyone had given it any thought...I don't think it's even really been considered yet. In the meantime, when you start making your plans for SFNE, gimme a yell!
  22. ^ I vaguely remember our earlier discussion in the haiku thread about California English VS. Massachusetts English, so I realize I could be wrong, but I think Jahan's saying "wow." On another note, all that's left to conquer now is fanfilms, above and beyond the stellar collection of videos that currently exists here...more in the "classic" vein of fanfilmdom. There's a horrifying thought.
  23. Oh no Guy found out. He's laughing himself silly. His thread just won't die!
