  1. I have several favorite Bumper Car attractions to name: Rough Riders at Holiday World, Dodge 'Em at Kings Dominion, and Bumper Cars at Camden Park (They are the only ones I know that has uses tires in the middle and those are spaced apart far enough to drive your car through). As for least favorite Bumper Car attractions, they are the one located at Knotts Berry Farm (The cars run too slow) and the one at Worlds of Fun (The layout looks ugly and they don't run many cars at a time). "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  2. "Holy Smokes!!!" It looks like I found another one that could be brought back and kept anew with some fresh posts. I went to a lawn party several years ago and played my favorite game in which I always win: The Fool the Guesser game. So I paid my five bucks to get that carny to guess my weight. His guess: 230 pounds. I smiled as I stepped upon the scales because I know I weight at least 250 pounds and I said I would like the fuzzy dice please. Imagine my shock when I looked at the scales and it read 230 pounds! I was flabbergasted to weight 230 pounds when I know I should be 250 pounds. The carny had to add this line: "I guess the one in the doctor's office was lying to you," and he laughted as I stomped off mad. I did go home later that night and I did weight 250 pounds. I hope that carny got a fair amount of usage out of those five bucks, and I hope he choked on it!!! I have never played the Fool the Guess game ever since. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  3. ^I'm sure that they'll be watching the Weather Channel and pick some good days that'll be warm and pleasant enough to do their series of testing on Outlaw Run. The weekend of January 12 and 13 was springlike if you live here Bridgewater, VA (Today it's cold and rainy) so it wouldn't be usual if one or two warm and pleasant days arrived in Branson right in the middle of winter, but I bet it'll be AH SO BAD if a blizzard shows up during Outlaw Run's opening day. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  4. Here's an interesting idea for a future coaster: a coaster in which you ride sideways. It'll be a steel coaster of coaster and it'll feature heartline rolls. Or how about this new concept, a roller coaster that begins going forward until hits the mid-station, the tracks are switched from behind the train, and ride continues going backwards on a new set of tracks. This isn't your typical forward and backwards coasters that utilizes the same track, but a different type of ride.
  5. Well, I called pillow and it sent me this text message: "I'm on vacation, but don't you worry, I'll be back when the next amusement park season rolls around, probably around April or May!
  6. All right then, I know this old post still exist, so let's add some more funny stories I happen to saw while at amusement parks. During an outdoor show at Kings Dominion, a group of college-aged boys decided to do some crazy dance in the middle of one of the songs (I must stress that I wasn't one of them; I was sitting in the audience taking a needed rest and catching the show). This went on for about a minute until one of the park attendants stopped this group and told them to move on. We decided to give them our applause. And then there was this happening at Six Flags St. Louis while waiting to get on the Highland Fling, one kid was too excited and couldn't wait to get on, and after getting on and with the ride in motion, this same kid began crying and wanted to get off. I decided to get revenge on this poor kid because he was bugging me in the queing station, so I call out to him: "Come on kid, show some courage! This isn't a bad ride!" This kid was still crying as we exited the ride. And also at Six Flags St. Louis I ended up riding Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast with some scaredy cat. I enjoyed the ride, thought it was great, but Scaredy Cat could stop screaming and hung on to the handle bars for dear life. Back into the station, he did stop screaming, but he couldn't let go of the handle bars. "The ride is over, so you can let go," I smirked to him and just gingerly walked out. So let's hear your funny stories. And while you're at it, somebody posted this a few years ago and I have no idea what it means (I DON'T SPEAK ACRONYMS!!! ). It was posted by themeparkologist and it read Can I please have a translation before I have a heart attack? "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  7. It has been seven years since this thread received its last post, so I decided to bring it out from the dark corners of the many unread threads and show it to the light once again. And since it was my idea, I'll guess I begin. I'm not really a big fan of freefall towers even though I will ride one every now and then to help improve my ride ability. During the years, I've have notice several generations of freefall towers. The first generation would have to be the ones that stood about 150 feet tall, fit four riders per car, takes an elevator to lift this car up, and you slide down a track and end up on your back. This attractions were rough and very noisy. By the mid 2000's, many parks got ride of them (Dorney Park still has theirs, even though it's a hand-me-down from Cedar Point). The second generation of free fall towers consists of a tall circular tower with sections of seats being pulled up by cables, released, and slowed down by magnets. Later models would have rows of seats circling around the tower (like the Drop Zone at Kings Island) and even reaching high and higher heights. The third generation would be the compressed air model that would feature towers that would feature models that'll shoot you up, left up up and shoot you down, or even do both. As for me, I like to be shot up. But regardless of which generation freefall tower it is, how high it goes, or its manafactorer, all free fall towers have one thing in common: they lift you up high into the air and you freefall down to the ground. So to keep this post up and running, I must asked out loud: "What is your favorite free fall tower?"
  8. "Hey Ya, look what I found!!! I believe I found a very old post that can be brought up, dusted, polished, and presented again for a new set of posts. I haven't seen many park fireworks (Usually I'm gone by the time they started), but I did remember one attraction that was once shown at Six Flags over Georgia in 1993. This was a laser/firework show that deplicted Batman battling his four most fearsome foes. Nearly seven years since its last post, I'm sure there have been many park fireworks both past and present. Care to join in and voice your favorite?
  9. Methinks this is a good move for Michigan's Adventure to add the Flying Scooters to their park - this is a fun family ride that will go over well. My question is this: where did the Flying Scooter attraction come from? As far as I know both Kings Dominion and Carowinds still have their flying scooter attraction, Knotts Berry Farm is also getting their own Flying Scooters, and I cannot think of any other Cedar Fair Park that has the flying Scooters, so could this be the first "brand new" attaction for Michigan's Adventure in many seasons instead of the old "hand-me-downs" the park received? Next think you know, Michigan Adventures may get their very own Gateway coaster. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride"
  10. Okay, okay, I will admit that I miss the train too since it was taken out in the mid 90's (just like I miss the old sky ride that ran back and forth across Candy Apple Grove - when that area was called "Candy Apple Grove"), but if they should ever consider putting the train back in to be used for the visitors to travel from one side of the park to the other, then where can they put the train stations? Methinks I may have a solution in the next paragraph below. Suppose they did take the Hurler out and put Train Station #1 (south end) in its place, then have one set of tracks that will head to the Intimidator305 by crossing through a pathway of the waterpark section, go under and through the Intimidator305 coaster and head to Train Station #2 (north end) that lies somewhere between Flight of Fear and the Intimidator 305 and having the second set of tracks (heading back to Train Station #1) by taking the long way around the Intimidator305 and the waterpark and heading back to Train Station #1. I believe that's one way they could do it. With two sets of tracks, you can two sets of trains running at the same time. But if they decided not to take the Hurler out to put Train Station #1, then I'm sure they could put the Train Station in the area that is between Ricochet and the Hurler. Either way, the layout would work just fine. And I'm also thinking that this attraction will pay off in one of three ways: One, as a mode of transportation to give the visitors a chance to relax as they travel to the other side of the park; two, A quick method to get to the other side of the park to ride Volcano and Intimidator after you've ridden Windseeker and the Rebel Yell; and three, another attraction to those visitors that can't handle the extreme thrill rides. Hold it - another idea just popped into my head: how about during HalloScream they use the train as a haunted train ride attraction? If they did it with Blue Ridge Toll Road, then they could also do it with the Train Attraction. One last thing (and I'll give away this idea for free so I can't sue them) - They could call it "The King's Express"! What do you all think about that? Before I leave, I would like to mention that this upcoming season with be my 35th season with Kings Dominion since coming to the park in 1978. I've been to Kings Dominion more times than any other park, and that ain't gonna change anytime soon! "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride
  11. ^ and I would like to second that statement. Knoebels has a few things that the other parks don't have: two train rides, two merry-go-round (not to mention a museum in one of their gift shops to houses the vintage horses), an attraction where you can steer your own motor boat, a great log flume, two "must ride or die" dark rides, Looper flat ride, and so many other rides and attractions it'll take too long to name them all. Plus, in between rides, I would like to play a few rounds of Fascination and Pokereno and win more tickets. Adding a drop tower without taking anything out, plus putting it in an area that could use it shall be a great boon for Knoebels. And should they ever get the "Lying Turds" ride running and open to the the public, then that will be an even bigger boon and I shall call it the "Flying Turns". "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride"
  12. I have two things I would like to contribute to this thread. First, I went over to YouTube and watched those old Kings Dominion Commercials. I did remember one in the early eighties that featured the tagline "Betcha you can't do it all". My comment on that tagline: "I bet I could do it all if the stupid lines weren't too line for those rides!" Can any of those commercials be found in Youtube? Now, as for the new and improved Planet Snoopy, I'm looking forward to all the construction updates and seeing this new area get the facelift it needed all those seasons ago. The opening 2013 season cannot get here soon enough. I'm not perfect; I just love to ride
  13. For a woodie that is under 75 feet tall, my vote will have to be on Kennywood's "The Jack Rabbit". This coaster was designed with the natural terrain in mind, therefore using less wood in its construction. And the double dip is still my favorite part of the ride. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride"
  14. Well. . . With my new Cedar Fair Platinum Pass already purchased, trips to KIngs Dominion and Cedar Point are planned. Plus during one weekend during the summer, I plan on visiting Dorney Park, Knoebels, and Hersheypark. And while I'm on my way to Cedar Point this summer, why not hit Kennywood on your way? As for Carowinds and Kings Island, visiting those two parks are on my "Maybe" list. I might add or drop more parks as summer approaches. I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  15. I last been at Lake Winnie during my 2007 summer vacation, and this was the first stop before I would head up to Pigeon Forge, TN and the soon-to-be-ill-fated Ghost Town in the Sky visit. Lake Winnie was a blast having Cannonball Run, the Paratrooper (my favorite old-timing flat ride), and the Boat Chute (it may be the oldest ride in the park, but it still packs the longest line!). Now with Lake Winnie adding this water park expansion, I hope the park is ready to expect more visitors entering their park. I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  16. "Oh well, there goes another enterprise ride" I was at Six Flags over Georgia this year, but I didn't ride Wheelie (the park was crowd-ded that day, my friend was with me and he doesn't like rides like this, and I wasn't feeling too keen that day - a condition I would finally beat when I headed to St. Louis one month later), but I have rode Wheelie in the past and plenty of other enterprises. Although I'm sad to see Wheelie go just like Free Fall and Starship Looper, I'm delighted that this park will get its own Skyscreamer, a ride I first rode in Six Flags St. Louis and found it to be a smooth and fun ride. Hey, it could have been worse: they could have announced that they were taking Mind Bender out and one million people in the state of Georgia would have cried "NOOOOOO!!!!!" "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  17. I'll say: walking through a passageway and suddenly an air jet shoots a loud stream of air at you is pretty scary to me! And how about riding through a dark tunnel and suddenly a pair of headlights beamed their high beams at you and a car horn is blasting in your ear? I think the fun part about an attraction like this would be riding with your girlfriend and she ends up hugging you to death because she is so scared. That has happened to me before: at Disney Studios, Florida riding the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. During the elevator free fall, a woman next to me grabbed my hand thinking that I was her husband ( her husband was sitting on her left while I was on her right) so you can imagine how embarrassed she was when she realized that she grabbed the wrong hand during her fright. I haven't had that much fun since I rode King's Dominion's apple turnover ride with a female and she had her hands around my waist (and I could feel her chest pressed against my back - an exciting time for me as a young kid) I think I should end this by saying to Wild Bill's Nostalgia Center: "Keep up the good work; I know I visit you one of these days!" I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!
  18. Ah, now we have three reasons to visit Brazil: 2014 World's Cup, 2016 Summer Olympics, and the newly built and much more improve Chiller. But I was fortunate to ride my one and only ride on the Chiller ( Batman side ) when I visited Six Flags Great Adventure. This was the first coaster that I ever got to experience the top hat inversion, the same inversion that I will be riding again and again with Mr. Freeze. So if Brazil didn't buy this coaster so they could use the extra metal for their Olympic stadium, I hope they can get this coaster running again, and once again become a cool ride ( if you pardon the pun ). "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!"
  19. Even though I bought a Six Flags season pass this season, I never did go to Six Flags America (I bought the pass at Six Flags New England and used it at Six Flags over Georgia, Six Flags St. Louis, and Six Flags Great America). In fact, the only time I ever bought a Six Flags season pass at Six Flags America was so I can use that pass to enter the other Six Flags parks whenever I'm traveling. During the years I've visited Six Flags America, I often found the park to be less enjoyable compared to the other Six Flags I've been too and the other amusement parks I'd visited. I wonder if the reason could be how many of the rides are run ( such as Mind Eraser - they take too long to load and unload each train), or the fact that so many rides were taken out (some due to being a maintenance nightmare) and not replaced, or it could be the park's layout itself ( many parks have circles in which one area leads into another, but Six Flags America have many dead ends. ). But I have seen this park getting it's act to together in recent years, with the addition of Whistle Stop Station and Apocalypse: The Last Stand. Plus, they'll be adding another water body slide next season. Still, it'll take a few more additions before this park can return to its former glory and have me excited once again for a revisit. PILLOW IS ON VACATION, SO I'LL USE MY FORMER SIGNATURE "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!"
  20. ^ "Hey, I can dig that!" Of course, if Holiday World did decide to put in another ride or another area related to a theme (I'm still rooting for Easter), then where would they put it? I wonder if Holiday world has any more spare land around that is begging for something to be built upon, or (say it so, Joe!)will they have to take something out so they can put something else in? Here's another thought: methinks that Holiday World, after putting in two awesome water coasters that'll get you so wet it'll short out your water resistant watch and a fun swing ride, may wait until 2014 before they even think of putting in another attraction. The park is just AWESOME!!! just as it is. But all this is just speculation on my part. I will have to wait and see, wait and see . . . "I can make it easier for you to wait, just lie on me and go to sleep. When you wake up, a few hours has passed and you're closer to whatever announcement Holiday World might make in the future. If that doesn't work, then go back to sleep until it does.
  21. After visiting Holiday World in Late July, I must commend them for keeping such a fine water park. My only gripe about it: I got so wet from riding both Wilderbeest and Mammoth that my wristwatch shorted out (it did say "water resistant", but I guess it wasn't "water-proof"). So I'll keep my wristwatch inside the locker on future trips. So, Holiday World, you won several Golden Ticket awards, got some great roller coaster and some great water coasters, plus some excellent rides and shows; the next question is - what are you going to do next? "I don't know, so why don't you come here and sleep on me for a while?"
  22. Ah Ha! I knew it, I deep down knew it that it was going to be the expansion plans for Planet Snoopy! In my second to last post, I reported that I saw two unused areas that might be candidates for the next, new attraction that Kings Dominion was going to put in. Now after seeing the announcement and seeing the video of four new rides they are putting in, I am well pleased. "Finally!" I said to myself. "Kings Dominon will have its own Kite Flyer, its own Woodstock Express, its own Rocking Tub, and a Tea Cup ride". With those additions, it makes it easier for me not to mourn over the lost of Treasure Cave (although I mourned the lost of "Yogi's Cave" when I visited the park in '98 and saw a lowbrow excuse for a replacement. Of course, I should stop mourning for the lost of "Smurf Mountain" as well, but that's another story.). But anyway, congrads to Kings Dominion for finally doing what they should have done seasons ago, but didn't have the capital handy at that time. And why should this rider and amusement park flyer be happy about the expansion to Planet Snoopy? Because I too can ride those attractions (Hey, at my age and condition I will often need to ride the fun low-impact rides in between the thrilling rides once in a while.)! Can anyone say Platinum Season Pass next season? "Hey, I'm waiting for you to say 'I'm tired and I want to sleep with you for a thousand years'!"
  23. ^At least they kept CLUB BLOOD, the nightclub where people are dying to get in. Coaster_Fanatic replied after my post: And I will say "Oh Goody; it's coming one day early. I won't have to wait that long!" "And I'm glad as well, at least he'll be able to sleep better at night once that announcement has been made!"
  24. Okay, I think this will count as a rare credit because it doesn't happen every day. How about getting to ride Skull Mountain at Six Flags Great America twice, first time with the lights on and second time with the lights off? Years ago, my friend and I were attending coaster celebration at Six Flags Great America and there were two ERT's: one in the morning and the other at night. Late at night, while everyone were getting their ERT's on El Toro, my friend and I were going to the other side of the park were the three other coasters (Nitro, Batman - the Ride, and Skull Mountain) were having their ERT's. Because we were the only two that showed up, the ride attendants decided to give us a treat: by giving us those two special rides. We felt like we were VIP's. I think I can also add another rare credit: how about riding Nitro by yourself in the front seat at 12:15 in the morning? That happened after we rode Skull Mountain and my friend wanted to sit Nitro out. And I got to ride it twice in a row (I wanted to ride more, but my friend was sleepy and the hotel we were going to was about two hours away, so go figure)! "My credit was when this rider and amusement park flyer got so sick he spent the whole day in bed with me. That don't happen to me very often.
  25. Okay, here's my take on this subject: I visit those amusement parks that are far away from me when I'm on vacation. In my advanced age, I have to consider the driving time whenever I travel and whether something is feasible or not. For example, I took a friend with me to Six Flags over Georgia. Now we both live in Bridgewater, Virginia (We're next to interstate 81 and 240 miles north from the Tennessee State line). We spent Friday driving to Georgia and a stayed at a hotel in Carterville; Saturday, we spent the whole day inside the park; and Sunday, we drove home. Because of our ages and physical capabilities, there was no way we were going to try and do that within a day. So my advice is if you can't travel to that amusement park within a few short hours, then you be better off planning extra days to take that trip. As for me, I can do day trips to Kings Dominion, Six Flags America, Busch Gardens, and Hersheypark; but other trips to any other park will require an overnight stay at a hotel. "Here's my advice: don't go out - just stay home and lie on your pillow!"
